Sigur Rós influence

Featured Replies

Am I the only one who think that it was inspired by Sigur Rós? Especially in the first part of the song.

The first part is more inspired by Leonard Cohen, since they had borrowed a line from him. It also references a "Wonderful world" which is possibly a reference to Louis Armstrong, who to me is quite similar to Cohen and Cohen has confessed that What a Wonderful World is one of his favorites, and Coldplay have covered that before, so the beginning seems to be inspired by Cohen if anything

Not sure I see a Sigur Ros influence here yet...perhaps the interlude between the two parts, but I hear What a Wonderful World for sure. Second part reminds me of 42.

Sorry to be naive and a bit arrogant but all I hear is an epic song that will go criminally unnoticed by anyone who isnt a big Coldplay song!!!

I can see it! Does anyone think that DLIBYH kind of sounds like the song 'Go Do' by the lead singer of Sigur Ros?

This very well could be the best song on the album. But, it will go unnoticed. It is simply amazing.

Nope i cant compare it.

It's a cover of Leonard Cohan.

Sigur Rós is there in other parts of the CD too :) They are even thanked in the booklet I understood!

Eh, how is someone a big Coldplay song? Do you mean big Coldplay fan? :P

and by 'going criminally unnoticed' you mean that people who are not big fans wouldn't notice how epic this song is? Eh, how would that make you arrogant?

Definitely hear it in multiple places on the album and I love it!
