Alright thanks for helping ill do some research shes only 16 :/

firstly, i'm not neither doctor nor nurse.. do you know the gel called Voltaren ? It can help for your friend but you should read Voltaren's usage field.. and do not use it before ask a doctor.

Ice packs.

And stop carrying a backpack.

Once in a great while I sleep on a couch, which usually doesn't do any harm, but sometimes my back muscles get pulled or strained in some strange way, and I find it almost impossible to stand up. Is that how it is with her?

Generally then I sleep flat on a stiff mattress or even a carpeted floor with just a heating pad supporting the arch of my back, and rest - be real careful not to strain the muscles further, keep the back warm and properly supported, and wait. It may take up to a week or two to fully recover from a severe back strain.

Sometimes this happens when the weather turns cold and I don't have the right warm clothes to protect my back, on those windy days walking out in the woods - suddenly it's like a muscle cramp. I've herd that not having enough calcium or an electrolyte imbalance may affect the muscles, or if one is starting to do a great deal of lifting using the back muscles after not having done so for a while, then strains can happen.

Patience, support, no sudden moves or drafts (suggest that she wear warm fuzzy sweaters), and slowly it goes away, and when it does, it's like heaven.

Unless it's something else, which it could be, but usually it's a back muscle sprain.
