Although I think there is some error with the numbering of the songs. For example, there's a tie at #305 (Atlas Sound + Jamie Hartman). The next song should then theoretically be #303 right?

 

The next two songs after #305 are also tied, so they are both ranked as #302. The way they're ranked (and I didn't actually rank them myself, I used excel) is that all songs that are in a tie are given the highest rank possible; notice how there are 308 songs, but there isn't a #308 because the bottom two are tied. So yeah, it looks like a lot of numbers are skipped, but it's just because there are lots of ties.

 

edit: Actually I see now that you're talking about #304. I'm not sure I understand why you think it should be #303?

Yeah, I see what you're saying. If I did it that way, then the tied songs would just be ranked at the lowest possible place rather than the highest. Excel doesn't give me that option though :tongue:

I'll try to finish this as soon as I can, I've just been busy.

I wish there was a better method of tallying up the results. It doesn't seem right to me that one song might be ranked above another just because it got more mentions. For example, the #23 song Ordinary Things had an average position of 2.5. Yet it still finished behind a song like Surgeon, only because the latter received more votes.

 

I'll be the first to let you know if I come up with an alternate method :awesome:
