Breaking news has it that Capello has resigned as England manager... hope he stuck to his guns and told the miscreant dictatorship at FA headquarters where to stick it!

bad news for Spurs fans!

Would be very surprised if 'Arry taks it. He said he didn't want it for a few years. And with the current Spurs side and the prospect of Champions League football next year he'd be daft to give that up!!

Martin O'neill has just gone to Sunderland.

Who'd want such a poisoned chalice! Mourinho?

I've always been a big fan of Capello well before he became England manager in December 2007. I thought he was absolutely quality who saw the qualities of discipline and professionalism above all else. When he applied that to the spoilt, attention seeking bastards that is the England national team they didn't like it. They couldn't handle it. He contributed to the poor 2010 World Cup but he was never entirely to blame. That lay at the feet of the players. He was ultimately the wrong choice for manager because his footballing culture was worlds away from the quite backwards culture that has encapsulated the England national football team. It's a shame that he turned out not to be the right manager for England. The reality is that it doesn't matter who is manager. For a football nation as big as England they really have to invest in expanding their coaching base. Reform like Spain did in the mid 90s after Euro 1996. Get as many top UEFA graded coaches as is possible and then England can fly.

Capello: 'England FA insulted me'

Fabio Capello launched a stinging attack on the FA after resigning as England manager. “They really insulted me and damaged my authority.”

The Italian tactician resigned after he criticised the FA on RAI television for taking the captain’s armband off John Terry before his trial for racist abuse.

“They really insulted me and damaged my authority,” Capello was quoted as saying on Italpress this evening.

“What really hit me and forced me to take this decision was the fact the much-vaunted Anglo-Saxon sense of justice, as they are the first to claim that everyone is innocent until proven guilty.

“In Terry’s case, they gravely offended me and damaged my authority at the head of the England side, effectively creating a problem for the squad.

“I have never tolerated certain crossing of lines, so it was easy for me to spot it and take my decision to leave.”

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is the hot favourite to take over for Euro 2012.

Capello had already confirmed he would not renew his contract when it expires after the tournament.

I think there needs to be some form of compromise, and he was a stubborn old bastard. You can't really expect people to completely change their habits, drinking in a bar until the early hours is obviously unnacceptable and he had every right to keep an eye on every player, but having rules like lights out at half 9 during the world cup is just a joke.

Guus Hiddink would be the best option available but the players would probably only play for one man, Harry Redknapp. I believe tactically Redknapp will come to be very suspect at Euro 2012 if he gets the job.
