PenandPencil
Hi all :) Unless I'm mistaken, why aren't Coldplay playing in Ireland this year? :shocked2: I mean, if they are playing in the summer in Ireland surely it'd be announced by now. No? :embarrassed: I've been searching for what seems like forever for information for the past few weeks about them playing here, but NOTHING has surfaced. I missed them at Oxegen last year and I swore that I'd see them this year. Well ... :\ Thanks in advance for any information. :) Oh - and sorry if this thread is in the wrong place. I'm a bit new here and this forum is a big place. :inquisitive: -P&P
Denise
Hi, unfortunately you're not mistaken, there's still no Irish date announced so far, however there are a few rumours going around, you can find more info here (where you posted too), here and here : )
PenandPencil
Hi, Denise :) Ah, thanks for the links! I'll keep an eye out on those threads. And yes, I did post in one of them, hoping for some promising answer, but no. Thanks for your help! :D
SprayCanSoul
I was hoping they would play The 02. It seems likely they will preform at The Aviva or that they'll headline Slane (If Slane goes ahead). Either way I hope they announce something soon. BelfastBoy
Since it's nearly March now, I'm guessing it'll be Slane or nothing. It seems amazing that Coldplay would skip Ireland, but sadly I can see it happening. (Would prefer Aviva myself as I don't like standing at gigs generally, especially in open countryside!) lovebeginswith
Lots of rumours that it will be at Slane this year.
PenandPencil
@SprayCanSoul - I really don't mind where they're playing, to be honest. I just hope they announce something. @BelfastBoy - Slane seems fun :) Never been up there myself, but I like the idea of listening to them in the open countryside. Only if it's not raining, though D: @lovebeginswith - Well, hopefully! Slane, Aviva, o2 ... ah Jaysus, can't they just announce something? :(
lovebeginswith
I have been to Slane for a lot of shows. If I gave you any advice, it would be "book a b&b in the area for the night". That walk back to the coaches is (or was when I went there) about an hours walk, through fielding and darkness. When on your feet ALL day at the show, its horrendous. Then when you get there, you still have the journey back to your area. horrible.
Major Minus
Is it possible that the band will play Ireland in 2013? For example, as a final concert or for a DVD or production?
Clocks In My Place
I wouldn't mind them playing in Ireland the spring of 2013 as I most likely will be going on exchange to Limerick then. :)
BelfastBoy
I have been to Slane for a lot of shows. If I gave you any advice, it would be "book a b&b in the area for the night". That walk back to the coaches is (or was when I went there) about an hours walk, through fielding and darkness. When on your feet ALL day at the show, its horrendous. Then when you get there, you still have the journey back to your area. horrible. Indeed. My other reason for preferring a venue to be in a city, with allocated seats is a simple one. My wife has limited mobility and so it's always preferable for us to have seats and not having to walk miles to get anywhere!
SprayCanSoul
Theres one reason that they may not be coming to Ireland in 2012, as maybe they could be holding out for Slane in 2013 - its a long shot but It seems possible.
