May 20, 201214 yr bwahaha i have no obligations to the educational system as of yet *runs around thread with arms in air*
May 20, 201214 yr Am I the only one who feels that some teachers are purposefully trying to make their class hard when it's not necessary?? My chemistry teacher is insane. She gives us mounds of work that she doesn't even grade sometimes and she never teaches us but instead tells us to "read the book, it's a pre AP class" I even noticed that she purposefully tries to fail kids who she thinks don't deserve to be in her class. When you ask her a question, she gives you this smart ass response that just makes you feel so stupid. Then when you don't understand a topic she's like "really what's not to understand. This is pretty easy stuff" BITCH YOU WENT TO COLLEGE AND GOT YOUR DOCTORATE IN CHEMISTRY OF COURSE IT'S EASY TO YOU. THIS IS MY FIRST TIME TAKING CHEMISTRY. Gosh teachers like her are the reasons why teachers get paid little. She's not worth my parents tax money Sorry for the little vent session. But it avtually helped. Ah yes! My english teacher does that. I also hate teachers who think they´re so special because they arent all sweet and are going to change our lives because OHH HE HAS EXPERIUNCEE!!!!! and talks about their life but never of the subject. And then when we have an exam he treats us like crap because we "didn´t study" well WE DONT KNOW WHAT TO STUDY. Just a reason why im starting to just not give a crap anymore.

And then when we have an exam he treats us like crap because we "didn´t study" well WE DONT KNOW WHAT TO STUDY. I agree with both of you. I'm on college now. This shit happens here as well. I fucking hate it when a student asks a question or makes a mistake while trying to answer a question the teacher made and the teacher treats him/her as if s/he were stupid. Acting as if the issue was obvious and/or regarding your students as morons won't help them understand the subject the least bit. I also hate it when the teacher goes 'Well, I won't dwell long on that part because you read the textbook and...'. Well, each student learns on his own way. Some like to read a text before the classe, some afterwards. The fact that some read it only afterwards doesn't mean they're lazy. Besides, if reading something was a guarantee that the students would understand it, what's the point of going to class? I know it's important to read at least what the teachers assign, but they shouldn't take it for granted that everybody is the same and that doubts or misunderstanding won't happen, even they read the textbooks. It's not because they read it halfheartedly (though it does happen). If you're acquainting some subject for the first time, for example, you're prone to miss some details and not pay enough attention to significant parts. It's only a human feature. What I hate most is teachers whose ego is so inflated that they can't stand when I student confronts some claim the teacher made: classes shouldn't have anything to do with individuals; it should be all about the subject itself, irregardless of the person standing in the front of the class.** I have absolute respect for decent teachers, but they should realise that students learning the subject they are teaching is more important than their egos. I also can't stand when teachers make up an answer when they don't how to answer a question. Being bold enough to admit that you don't something and trying to find an appropriate answer should be a pre-requisite of being a teacher. Just a reason why im starting to just not give a crap anymore. I think you should put yourself in the first place. If you don't agree with some of your teachers behaviour, then study for yourself, not for them. What you learn at school will probably be relevant throughout your whole life. edit: **I just realised what I said can be interpreted as 'students and teachers aren't people'. Far from that; I only meant that people shouldn't think they're untouchable or way smater than everybody else.
May 20, 201214 yr On the other side of the extreme, there are dumb "Jewish Studies 23" or "Art History 163" teachers who think their subject is THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU WILL EVER LEARN and make the course full of reading 3 textbooks and material online, tests every week, cramming every detail that could be possibly read into the final, etc. No I'm not making this up, well not entirely. It's even dumber at a community college, because almost everyone there has a kid or a job or two jobs and they don't have time to focus on some insane teacher who thinks "The evolution of clay scuplting in the 19th century" will change their lives when everyone is just taking it for the general education requirements. /rant
May 20, 201214 yr I won't say anything about these specif subjects because I wouldn't choose them myself (and they wouldn't be obligatory on my course), but I'd rather my teachers were enthusiastic about their own subjects than assign something way too basic, something that only gives you the idea that this or that exists and end of story. Having said that, I agree with you when you imply that sometimes teachers exaggerate the ammount of reading and of tests.
May 20, 201214 yr Author I can't stand teachers that think all their students are geniuses and can do anything by theirself too. Like I remember when we had to draw the Pantheon in assonometry for our technical drawing hour our teacher told us that he didn't have enough time to explain everything because he had to interrogate some persons and we were good enough to do it by ourselves. Seriously, we have to draw such a complex thing (he also told us that to get a satisfactory mark (6) we had to draw at least the main shape, which isn't already that easy) without a f*cking complete explanation?
May 20, 201214 yr ^a friend of mine goes to an extra class of that and she says its hard as shit! also who thinks history is a pretty useless subject for school?...
May 20, 201214 yr Author ^a friend of mine goes to an extra class of that and she says its hard as shit! also who thinks history is a pretty useless subject for school?... I love history actually and I think it's useful because it helps you to understand how today's world is learning from the past but that's just my view
May 20, 201214 yr I also like history, but what is there to teach? you can just read a book and boom there you know history
May 21, 201214 yr I actually love history but what I hate is I don't know what it's like for you guys but at my school you have to take four years of English science history and math to graduate. It's so stupid. SO IM FAILING ALGEBRA 2 and chemistry, two classes I know I will never need in the future because I want to be a linguist, yet I have to Take them because it's mandated by the state. HOW STUPID
May 21, 201214 yr ^You'd be surprised at how many redundant classes there are at uni and you're complaining now...
May 21, 201214 yr Only my college would have a bomb scare and complete evacuation at 9 oclock in the morning :blank:
May 21, 201214 yr Only my college would have a bomb scare and complete evacuation at 9 oclock in the morning :blank: I'm surprised anyone could be bothered in the morning at school

May 22, 201214 yr for the past three weeks we have been doing NOTHING and i just cant keep waking up at 5 in the morning to do nothing
May 23, 201214 yr i have a nutrition final tomorrow, which i'm currently studying for. 100 questions. not super worried. it is a difficult subject, but nothing is too difficult especially if you have an interest in the subject.
May 23, 201214 yr I'm writing a ~formal complaint~ to my principal about my music teacher. She's an awful teacher and she's head of music :( we had a student teacher this week who completely showed her up...he was helping us all out individually, explaining everything, showing us techniques to help us remember things etc but she always just stays at the front of class, writing things on the board and telling us to hurry up...
May 23, 201214 yr ^Wish you luck. It's better to try to change it and don't waste time with "teacher", who does nothing good. Now I regret that my class didn't do anything with our teacher. We had 7 hours per week, but everybody had to have extra lessons to pass exam. Sad.
May 23, 201214 yr Author can we also talk about bullies or dumb kids at our school? of course, it's a school related issue
