RAOK~ Random Act of Kindness

Featured Replies

I felt the urge to make this thread because helping loved ones or even strangers is the best gift/feeling to spread. It can be something simple by writing an appreciation note or letter to a friend, family member, neighbor, co-worker, teacher, stranger. It can really make a person smile who might been having a tough time. What is your “RAOK” (random act of kindness) today? Share your RAOK stories/experiences/ideas too. :)

Few of my inspirations come from... :loveshower:

In my second year of high school, my english teacher had us do a “RAOK”. Classmates took creative ideas to spread the love by anonymously paying a stranger's dinner, complimenting somebody's hair who seemed to be having a bad day, creating positive cards to neighbors, and many other positive uplifting actions.

During the past Black Friday, a friend was buying a new TV and her car didn't have enough room to carry the TV. So a stranger randomly offered to help her drive the package to her place with his truck. Even though my friend and her boyfriend were a little suspicious at first sense they didn't know the stranger. It really inspired me to hear a such generous stranger to help my friend when he didn't even work at the store and really took a moment to help a complete stranger.

Recently, my university started a facebook group where messages sent by anonymous people are posted to the page for the public to read about positive compliments and appreciative words to friends, family, staff members, students, and even strangers. “This is a social experiment that started at Queen's University in Canada. Brown, Washington University in St. Louis, UA and Yale have all done similar.”

And of course this beautiful story of a cop helping a homeless man...

This post just made my day. :) I love to know that they're are people out there willing to help others and expect nothing in return. I remember hearing about that police officer. That was such a generous thing to do.

i told a guy i liked his shoes the other day but i cant remember if i was just being kind or if i was hitting on him

or maybe he just had cool shoes (he did)

This thread is so nice and really made me smile:)

Random acts of kindess, i think, should be natural:) Just done everyday

This is an amazing thread:)

I had a presentation on RAOK a long time ago now. I've done my best to perform my own, nothing big but kind nonetheless.

I bet he was very flattered with your compliment! :)

Me and my boyfriend are buying a washing machine and shower for his family. Also did we connect an oven yesterday. His family is really nice. People are poor here and when they come by to ask for money the family always gives them some and also does his mum always give half of the salary to a disabled guy who is on the streets here. I am going to give so much money, hahaha, but for them it's so much more than for me, because the country is so cheap.

This is a great thread!! Thanks!

Our RAOK: me and my sons baking little cup-cakes and then selling them at a christmass-event in our neighbourhood. Just to collect money for a little Dutch child (3) who has a rare kind of cancer. He needs an (expansive) therapy in the USA afther his chemo-therapy.

^That's very sweet of you and your sons to help the child. Best wishes to him and his family.

I saw this video a while ago - had to share this.

I Called my friend during the Paralympic Closing Ceremony let them listen to Yellow because they did 'nt get tickets .

In the parking lot of my local supermarket today, I saw a tiny lady with a cart full of groceries. As I was hesitating, debating if I should offer her my help, her husband came out of their van, he was limping. It looked like he's had a stroke and lost some motion on his left side. I walked up to them and proceeded to help them load the groceries in the trunk, then took the cart back to the return area. It felt really good. I then got back in my car and blasted Politik on my way home.
