MICHAELSD
Hyped up for A Head Full of Dreams -- it's going to be one of Coldplay's best! I love when a band releases a limited edition CD in retail stores to entice fans to buy a physical CD and receive a bit extra with it, such as the Mylo Xyloto Target exclusive limited edition boxed CD. Unfortunately I haven't heard of a limited edition for AHFOD yet, any news?
Empy
Currently there won't be a limited edition. However, if you pre-order the CD from Coldplay.com you'll get a few holographic stickers as a pre-order bonus. The Japanese get a bonus track on the album (Miracles, which was released last year as part of the Unbroken soundtrack) but that's because CD's are a lot more expensive over there. Also, I like the idea of having some incentive to buy the music physically, but only if they do it the right way. I don't like the way they tried boost bonus tracks on Ghost Stories, for instance. Ghost Story, All Your Friends and O (Reprise) were only available through Target, a chain of stores that's only active in the US and doesn't ship internationally either. I would've really liked it if I could buy it here in the Netherlands as well. As a consolation prize they later released those tracks as part of the A Sky Full of Stars EP, but that didn't get a physical CD release here in the Netherlands either. Eventually I managed to import it from Germany, but I still don't like the fact that I have to go to so much trouble to get those tracks on a CD. So if Coldplay, or any band for that matter, decide to do some incentive to boost physical sales I'd prefer some deluxe packaging or booklet over bonus tracks. MICHAELSD
Agreed, I didn't purchase the Target deluxe edition of Ghost Stories as I wasn't enticed enough frankly. I would love to go out later and purchase AHFOD from somewhere that at least throws in some type of bonus, any ideas? I've been checking but I haven't found anywhere that even includes a launch day goodie. Really not that enticed to solely buy the CD since I subscribe to music streaming services. Jedi Leo
The closest we come to a special release must be the 2-LP vinyl plus stickers on the online store. I kinda miss the single release as we used to have. I mean even with MX we had quite a few single releases, but so far nothing from ahfod. I hope for upcoming special releases. The CD online with stickers? :) I love streaming for convenience but as far as music quality goes CD or Vinyl is the only way to go for me or lossless downloads. You miss quite a few nuances by just going with the streamed version.
Mylo19
I'm buying it from Target anyways because when I bought the live ghost stories video from their website I didn't get it for like 2 weeks after it was released.
fhqwhgads
The punchline to Target's Ghost Stories thing, they had exclusivity for the vinyl(at least brick & mortar stores), and the vinyl didn't come with the bonus tracks on the download! That was kind of a bummer to find out.

That was kind of a bummer to find out. Speaking of Ghost Stories and Target. Back then I got the CD from a girl who would then become my girlfriend within two months or so of GS release. She bought it for me in Target because of the special edition with bonus tracks. Said girl is to this day the love of my life and we broke up in August a few days before True Love was released as a single.... speaking of the perfect soundtrack for both wonderful and saddest moments all related to one person in a particular span of time! I hear ya, though I dont see this as a jinx as initially it was connected with us getting together as she was the one who gifted me the copy of the album :) Later on I was thankful Ghost Stories was there to help me cope with everything. It was truly the perfect soundtrack. Matter of fact so was MX for me in 2012, so I am kinda hoping Ahfod bodes very well and 2016 will be a bang super joyful year for me! hehe To tell you the truth that is why I am in Cali right now, I realised she is the one and so I have come to the States to get her back. I arrived here as the first hints of Adventure were released so once again I have Coldplay to soundtrack me through the defining moments of my life. They are the best :)
MICHAELSD
Always buy the Coldplay Cd it's Well worth it!! Of course it's worth it! But not sure I need to have the physical CD when I can listen to it in high quality online.

I do have a Tidal subscription currently so I can listen to the album losslessly ;).

Jedi Leo
Ghost Stories was indeed a perfect breakup album. Just don't let Coldplay convince you to do anything rash . I went through a realisation about her being the one around September/October and decided to come over then, so it was still unclear back then if they would even release something this year at all hehe So no it was not a case of me following the Coldplay vibe but the other way around, the vibe followed me hehe :)

I listened to some samples on iTunes and WOW this album is already sounding incredible. I already see myself replaying some of these songs a couple hundreds of times. Now I'm more hyped-up to have a physical album in my hand but hoping I find some store with at least a little launch day goodie!

I dont think there is such a store I am afraid, at least Ive not been able to find one here in LA. The closest I´ll come to a goodie experience will be grabbing a cup of Gingerbread latte at Starbucks while securing my vinyl copy at Barnes N Noble hehe Hopefully it will be on Tidal soon, cant see it there yet. Apple Music and iTunes have it up already so I expect Tidal to have it at 3am ET/midnight PT, or at least by morning.
Jedi Leo
Incidentally I just found out Tidal has opened a download store, which I am considering using once my free subscription runs out. Maybe its good bye iTunes, hello Tidal for me hehe I really appreciate the high fidelity bonus.

Maybe its good bye iTunes, hello Tidal for me hehe I really appreciate the high fidelity bonus. If I were purchasing albums rather than paying for a streaming subscription, I would definitely want the best quality available. Tidal's prices for purchasing music are similar to iTunes surprisingly so it's a no-brainer. Although, of course CDs are also lossless. Edit: the cost for lossless music through Tidal's shop is about double the standard price. It's more cost-efficient (and funner) to buy the CD itself. It looks like they dont sell single songs but only albums or EPs/official singles, so yeah not a substitute for iTunes for me :/ When buying an album, I go vinyl/CD but I use iTunes a lot for single downloads

Technically if you're always subscribed to a streaming service then you have every song you could want till the day you die.
fhqwhgads
All I did was buy the CD from Amazon to get the digital version, so I listened to it right when I bought it at 11PM CST last night.
