I think it will win a ton of technical awards, and while I think it has the best chance at winning Best Picture fomr "The Academy," I would say the field is spread out enough between that, Cold Mountain and Mystic River that no movie could be said to be a clear favorite.

 

Which is sad. At some point you have to recognize that the achievements of that movie outweigh a lot of it's shortcomings; area's where Cold Mountain and Mystic River might be better, yet they lack the imagination and achievement.

You weren't right. My father was called Dick as I grew up. Being a dangerously independent child, I insisted that nobody call me that.

 

And that attitude has carried over to this day, though nobody calls my father Dick anymore and I am extrememly proud to be named after him.
