Coldplay Covers (Kawai MP9000) & Live Version Piano Tutorials

Featured Replies

Hey guys!

Since I am a proud owner of a Kawai MP9000 and I try to let my covers sound as close to the original versions as possible, I decided to start this thread.

I will post Coldplay covers played on my Kawai. Let me know what you think! I hope you'll like them. If you have song suggestions, feel free to post them here and I'll try to cover them.

Hope you like it!

Let's start with four covers that are already uploaded to YouTube. I might record another version of Everglow since I feel like it's played a bit too fast.

YELLOW - ACOUSTIC VERSION

THE SCIENTIST - LIVE VERSION

EVERGLOW

CHARLIE BROWN OUTRO

Feel free to share :)

Sounds good! Did you adjust the sound any? It sounds a little bit different than mine lol

  • Author

Yes! I set it on bright voicing (piano 2). I think coldplay's sound was brighter than the standard sound of the kawai and they adjusted as well.

I figured it was piano sound 2. Just need to mess around with the settings to get it to sound as close as possible

Exactly, that's it. I find piano 2 on bright voicing to be the original sound.

Special thanks to FUZZYMAN20 for providing the warm pad track!

One last question. How were you able to record the piano sound? Not the best when it comes to this stuff. I'm guessing from a USB sound card?

Yes, you're right. I'm using the Behringer UCA222 soundcard. Only 30€ and I am very pleased with the quality.

Thank you!

Fm chord makes the difference, thx for the hint.

Got ahold of a UCA222 sound card so I'll post some of my demos when i figure out how to record with it lol

Nice! You need to connect it with two mono audio cables to the piano and then usb to your computer. I record my videos with audacity.

Nice ;)

the sound is unreal, can see why they stuck with it for so long lol

It is an amazing sound, the thing I love the most is to awake up in the middle of the night with no sleep, put my headphones on, and play and listen to that fantastic piano...

WOOOOOOW!!! I always wondered if the sample of the kawai they added some external effect during clocks live, because the sound of the piano is different from all other songs. But with this video it is proved that it is a proper sound of the piano! amazing!! I would be happy if I could have some sample for my piano to sound like this :sob:

thank you! i was always wondering as well. but it's really just the combination of the piano sound and the backing track.

I put the voicing on 'bright' and I usually go with 'room1 or 2' reverb.

I've always wanted to hear a good cover of Reign of Love on the MP9000.

Stay tuned for something I'll be doing in the coming weeks. Unfortunately I'm getting my piano repaired at the moment, so I have to put it off for a bit.
