  • Finally a new album from the band! Haven't heard the full album yet, just the 3 pre-released songs and they're great.

Okay, people, I got a bit silly this evening and thought of making something (alomost) Snow Patrol related. Here is what I came up with.

At least I had fun making it! :D

awww...too cute!!! :D

btw, this round's questions have a couple of toughies!!!

i've no idea how to answer 2 of them... :shame:

Yeah, Gary's voice did sound a little more gruff than usual, I think they mentioned in the interview that it was pretty early, so I bet that had something to do with it. But even gruff, he's got the most amazing voice. :wacky:

awww...he's got "morning voice" too?

@Jea- thanks for the head's up about the UK edition of Eyes Open... I didn't know that it had bonus tracks. I also don't have the actual cd... now I may have to get that one also!

i think there were like 3-4 extra songs on the UK edition. i didn't realise it myself when i bought it that it's only for the UK edition. but Warmer Climate is a good track & i love In My Arms.

i've ripped the album to my PC, but unfortunately it's in the repair shop right now...so i can't share the tracks with you guys. :(

just saw this on a website & thought you Polar Teddies in the US would be interested in this special Up To Now pack. :D

Prize: One winner will receive a Snow Patrol "Up To Now" Prize Pack; See Details!

Exceptions: None, see official rules for eligibility

Number of winners allowed: 1

Ends: Monday November 30th 2009

Enter here for your chance to win a Snow Patrol Prize Pack! One winner will receive a Snow Patrol Umbrella, Snow Patrol Tumbler, Snow Patrol Lollipop, and a copy of "Up To Now" - the band's new compilation CD out November 10th!

Multi-platinum recording artists, Snow Patrol, will release the compilation album, Up To Now, on November 10th, 2009 via Fiction/A&M. This 30-track double album is a must-have for Snow Patrol fans everywhere as it features all their hit singles, cover versions, rarities and album tracks that span the part-Irish, part-Scottish quintet's amazing 15-year career.

Up To Now includes three previously unreleased songs, "Just Say Yes" "Dark Roman Wine" and "Give Me Strength", as well songs from the two albums Snow Patrol released on UK indie label Jeepster Records: 1998's Songs For Polarbears and 2001's When It's All Over We Still Have To Clear Up. The album also includes two songs by The Reindeer Section - an indie supergroup featuring members of Belle and Sebastian, Idlewild, Mogwai and Teenage Fanclub, among many others - from their 2002 album for Bright Star Recordings, Son of Evil Reindeer.

Other highlights include a cover of Beyonce's "Crazy In Love" that was recorded as a live track for BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe's evening session at Maida Vale in London (with a rap performed by Lowe). Up To Now also features live versions of Snow Patrol's hit singles "Run" (from their 2003 album Final Straw) and the double-platinum "Chasing Cars" (from 2006's Eyes Open) that were recorded at London's Union Chapel as part of an exclusive one-off show put on by Radio 1 presenter Jo Whiley to raise money for the charity MENCAP.

Snow Patrol is singer, songwriter Gary Lightbody, bassist Paul Wilson, guitarist Nathan Connolly, drummer Jonny Quinn and keyboardist Tom Simpson. Since the mostly-Irish band formed in Scotland in 1994, the band's hard-earned rise has seen them become one of the world's biggest bands, culminating in sales of more than 10 million copies of their last three albums, taking in Grammy, BRIT, BMI, Meteor, and Ivor Novello nominations and awards along the way.

Snow Patrol have recently finished up supporting US tours with Coldplay and U2 and are currently on a headlining tour.

omg! a lot of stuff here:cheesy::dead:

i promise i'll do;)

i wonder how a "Snow Patrol lollipop" looks like? hehe :wink3:

i wouldn't mind a Snow Patrol umbrella or tumbler tho... :)

oh & November's just around the corner!!! Up To Now & the Reworked Winter Tour are just round the corner!!!

...no word about the status of my Up To Now boxset order yet. & there's the whole postal union strike still on here. i hope they don't use Royal Mail for my order...tho i don't think i paid much for delivery, so i doubt it'll be courier delivery.

ok...i am quite stuck on 2 particular questions in this week's round of the Pub Quiz.

there's one that's asking what song Gary performed acoustic amongst the crowd in the recent UK & Ireland arena tours which really stumped me, then i found these 2 videos on YouTube...so could this be the answer dear SP gurus?

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6L97bYsOxBc]Snow Patrol AECC 26/2/09 Run Part 2[/ame]

btw, i was laughing myself silly seeing how there's this 1 girl who keeps taking advantage of the situation to grab Gary's head & give him a couple of kisses!!!

personally, i would NEVER EVER think to do that if i were ever that lucky...i'd probably be too busy trying not to faint from the very idea of him standing next to me singing Run. :P

Hey Kim! I already had a look at the questions as well and I must say there are quite some tough ones, but I did some research yesterday and think I found out about most of the answers... I posted them all to Bianca yesterday and just wanted to wait for her comfirmation. ;)

But yeah, I'd already thought that it obviously HAD to be Run and then I looked for some videos which would confirm that on youtube and found a similar one to yours, so I guess "Run" should be right. ;)

Seriously, I think such people are just annoying and I would never DARE to do that, especially not in that situation! Just like you, I'd probably either be rooted to that very spot and not able to move at all or just busy trying not to faint... You know, "Run"'s my absolute favourite, so I'd nearly die anyway if he just came near to me during that song.

which ones are you stuck on Ilione?

the only tougher ones i'm kinda sure of are these :

Q : Name the Belle and Sebastian drummer who originally played on Snow Patrol's first single Starfighter Pilot and has now returned as a member of touring party

A : Richard Colburn (as per Wikipedia...i personally don't know much about Belle and Sebastian beyond that they were on the same Jeepster label as SP)

Q : Which track that features on 'Up To Now' features an air-raid siren, the only Snow Patrol track to have featured that sound?

A : Post Punk Progression (or PPP) - very confident of the song, since i have it on my WinAmp...but i'm not entirely sure what would be the right answer since i know the song as "Post Punk Progression" but the tracklisting on Up To Now is stated as "PPP" only. :shame:

Q : Where did the band play a show in a strip pub (the pole having to be unscrewed to fit the drumkit on stage)?

A : High Wycombe (again thanks to Wikipedia & a news article, but also cos i saw Karen's answer was the same...so i shouldn't be too far off, eh?) ;)

the other one i'm stuck on is this one :

Q : Who brought the band's 2007 T in the Park headline slot to a standstill?

at least he didn't get pissed off or anything. he just looked pretty bemused by it & he managed to carry on with the song pretty well...given the very obvious distraction of a hand creeping up twice & quite literally grabbing his head to one side.

maybe the girl was a hot chick so he didn't mind at all? :wink3:

the other one i'm stuck on is this one :

Q : Who brought the band's 2007 T in the Park headline slot to a standstill?

1st question: Yeah, I'm pretty confident that this has to be Richard Colburn because that's at least how Gary always called him when introducing "The Golden Floor" at the three gigs I've been to. :)

2nd question: Umm, I haven't got that one yet! :stunned::confused: But yep, "Post Punk Progression" would be my answer as well. It's on the Live DVD from 2004, I really like that song. :D And I guess "PPP" is just the abbrevation for it... ;)

3rd question: Did some research on that as well and it seems that we both found the same sources... So, unless those sources are wrong, "High Wycombe" has to be the answer...

4th question: The answer's probably "Spiderman". Research on youtube led me to this video: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6DD6mqcez4&feature=player_embedded]YouTube - Spiderman climbs speakers during Snow Patrol, T In The Park[/ame] Gary's comment on that is just legendary... :laugh3::laugh3:

But I'm not quite sure about the question which album was Mercury prize nominated... I've got the feeling that it's Final Straw, though. I think I read that somewhere... Is there anybody who can confirm this?

And that Park in Bangor's called Ward Park, isn't it? At least that's the name I remembered. Might be wrong, though, because my memory's not the best (Bianca can actually tell a thing or two about that...:lol:).

It indeed was Final Straw. Look here on Wikipedia and on Mercury's website. So we'll have that then. ;)

In Bangor there are three big parks: Castle Park, Ward Park and Upritchard Park. They've been in Ward Park, look on their official page.

Did that help? :)

oh yes! that helped a lot...& well done, you two SP gurus you! :D

i kinda thought Final Straw & Ward Park were the answers respectively, but i wasn't sure.

& that video! you're right, Ilione, his comment is just hilarious!!! & toast with marmite...yummmzzz!!! :D :D :D

woah baby this thread is like under my Christmas tree today! soo many goodies! Thanks Elena, Bianca, & Jen. I feel so greedy...someday I will find something good post it here and surprise you all. :o

that is some TOUGH trivia!

PS FYI i do NOT recommend getting the swine flu/h1n1! just thought i'd put that out there! :):P

You're very welcome, Kim, but I think Elena would agree: We're not really Snow Patrol gurus.

You'll find something, I'm sure. Some videos or something we overlooked. There's a documentary coming up ... :sneaky: (Oooooh, I can't wait to analyse all that! :D)
