  • Finally a new album from the band! Haven't heard the full album yet, just the 3 pre-released songs and they're great.

Just got an email about this. They are coming back here during their Australia tour in September.

14th September - Vector Arena, Auckland

15th September - Westpac Centre, Christchurch

Awesome. I went to the Auckland show in February and will definitely go again. Be good to get to checkout the new Vector Arena for the first time too. Hasn't been anything on there that I've been interested in yet.[/url]

SP TO HEADLINE OXEGEN & T IN THE PARK THIS WEEKEND!

Snow Patrol return to both Scotland and Ireland this weekend, to headline two festivals that they have gotten to know very well over the last few summers.

The Patrol headlines the Main stage at Oxegen this Saturday at around at 9:45pm , before they head to Scotland to close the Sunday night of T in the Park, kicking off the set just after 9:00.

The headline appearance at the legendary Scottish festival will mark the fifth time the boys have played T in the Park, first starting out on the unsigned stage.

Both the events have long sold out, however you can catch coverage of T in the Park on the BBC, over the weekend starting at 7pm on Friday. For full details please click here. You can also tune into Xfm Scotland to hear coverage and interviews over the weekend.

Oxegen this year will be covered by RTE 1, 2fm and RTE 2Xm. Tune in on Saturday to hear live sets as well as interviews from the site. For more information check out http://www.rte.ie/2fm/oxegen/

LIVE EARTH

The band will also be taking part in this weekend’s Live Earth concerts, which are set to take place simultaneously in 8 cities around the world.

The concert held on Saturday (7th July), is set to be a monumental music event that will bring together more than 2 billion people to combat the climate crisis.

The UK concert which will take place at the new Wembley Stadium, will boast appearances from some of the biggest bands and artists in the world including Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Madonna, Foo Fighters, Beastie Boys and Geneisis.

Due to the Patrol headlining Oxegen the same day, the band are set to play an early afternoon set at 2:30pm (covered on BBC2), and then travel over to Dublin. The carbon footprint created by the bands travelling has already been offset by the band. Along with their other flights over the next few months.

For more information on the event please check out http://www.liveearth.org

Snow Patrol star arrested

The band are due to headline T In The Park tonight

Snow Patrol's preparations for their T In The Park headline slot tonight (July 7) have been thrown into chaos after one of the band was arrested following their Live Earth show yesterday.

Keyboard player Tom Simpson was apprehended as he prepared to board a flight at RAF Northolt in Middlesex. The band were on the way to the Oxegen Festival in Ireland.

Simpson missed the show after being taken to Uxbridge Police Station, where he was still being held last night.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "can confirm that a 35-year old man was arrested at Northolt military base. He will remain in custody at Uxbridge Police Station until he is transferred."

The alleged offence was committed in the Strathclyde force area, where the band are based.

Police release T in the Park star

Snow Patrol were the headline act for the last day of the festival

Keyboard player Tom Simpson has headlined with his band Snow Patrol at T in the Park, despite being detained in Middlesex by police on Saturday.

He was arrested in connection with a failed court appearance in Glasgow.

Strathclyde Police said a 35-year-old man had been due to be transferred to their custody from Uxbridge Police Station, but was later released.

The band, who met while at university in Dundee, were the headline act for the festival in Balado, Kinross-shire.

Earlier, Amy Winehouse pulled out of her slot from the event suffering from "exhaustion".

Organiser Geoff Ellis said: "We just hope she can take a bit of rest and get back to her best."

Meanwhile, the car parks at the site were fully reopened after heavy rain left the area thick in mud.

Parking at the event had been limited on the second day of the festival and fans had been urged to travel to the site on public transport.

Good weather had since helped to dry the fields out, and police said there were no traffic problems in the area.

Mr Ellis said the site had been bearing up well and the mud had not dampened spirits.

"We've got glorious sunshine today and we had fantastic sunshine yesterday," he said.

"Obviously there were problems with the car parks on Friday due to the weather, but most people had got in by then."

Tayside Police said they had arrested 46 people in the first two days of the festival.

Ch Supt Matt Hamilton, the officer in charge of policing the event, said: "Encouragingly arrest figures on site at T in the Park are much lower than a town centre on a Saturday night.

"The numbers are incredibly low considering the amount of people on site and we're happy with the way things are going."

Replaced Iain Archer (I think), whose 2006 album beats Snow Patrol's radio-friendly dribble hands down.

Just got my tickets for September in the "fan club" pre-sale which is today. :D

Apparently being a member on their website (ie, the mailing list) is the "fan club."

Would've thought it was something you'd have to pay to join.
