Zone française

Hi everybody ! Thanks for the things you said about french :) I find English very beautiful, and really, really cool. I wish I could speak it without any accent...

Chris became better and better in French ! At Coldplay's first gig in Belfort, in 2000, he was hardly understandable. He tried to say "My french is shit, sorry", but he said "French is shit" !! I wonder what the crowd thought... "Who's that young rude guy ?" But he became better and better, and now he can improvise in French :)

Sinon, je suis malade... :\ Jamais autant vomi de ma vie qu'aujourd'hui :sweatdrop::sick2:

I think that it's good that you can come on ZONE FRANCAISE and practise your French now that the semester with French ended. I think that you're doing fine - almost perfect. Just remember: Prendre / comprendre.

VIVE LA FRANCE et VIVE LA LANGUE FRANCAISE.

Merciiiiiiiii  :smug: *french pride rising XD*

What does English sound like to you guys? :P

Hummm  well, english is a very 'singing' language.. I mean, the voice goes 'up and down' (if you know what I mean  ) while you're speaking. French is more 'flat', we say everything on the same tone. I like hearing and speaking english, even if, as 98 % of french people, I've got a +/- bad accent.... I remeber in Dublin, first day, I ordered a chocolate icream in a shop. WHen the waiter asked what I wanted I juste said 3 words 'chocolate icecream pleas'. And then, the guy said to me 'oh, you're french'!!! and starts speaking fluent french with almost no accent at all. I felt :dozey: And it was like that during all my trip! But this year, no one told me that in London...Dunno if I've improved in 2 years or if brits are used to see french invade their city :laugh3:

c'est les crêpes ??

French is more 'flat', we say everything on the same tone.

Then why does our French teacher mark us on having intonation? :inquisitive:

You're very understandable, AVA.

When in Denmark at the Roskilde Festival, Chris said something in Danish - a full sentence with NO accent, and I was like :o - my first thought was who said that - a Danish security guard? But it was Chris! Yes, it is impressive that he learns a few sentences where most other artists might learn: Tak and GODDAG! (Thanks and Good Day) - and that's all. He is very impressive indeed. TIP TOP QUALITY belonging to a quite unique league.

With no accent ? He's amazing ! I saw a video and he also says few words in Japan and in spanish... :awesome:

Exactly.... I remember the two last gigs in France (Arras and Paris) and he speaks french all over the show... In Arras he said "Je suis désolé parce qu'il pleut" (I'm sorry because it's raining) and a lot of sentence like that, it was pretty pretty funny !

Merciiiiiiiii  :smug: *french pride rising XD*

I totally agree with you ! I love speaking and hearing english too ;)

I lived the same thing the first time I went to Ireland, four years ago... When I tried to speak english everybody told me "oh, you're french!" because my accent was very horrible :laugh3: But when I went to London three months ago noone told me I'm french.... An english boy who was in the same hostel said "your english is very well and you have just a little accent but it's cute"... I think I was dredge me

So.... Enough about my life

Salut tout le monde, ça va ?

Bon courage à toi Lu'kaa !

Then why does our French teacher mark us on having intonation? :inquisitive:

Yes you have intonation to express exclamation, interrogation mode and stuff like that but in general when you prononce a word, you don't stress any syllabe like in english.
