Straightening your hair

Featured Replies

I have naturally wavy hair and I wish it were straight. I have bought various hair straightners/flat irons, some work better than others, but I just don't get it straight enough. I've been using a real iron (like for ironing clothes) on my hair lately because it gets it perfectly straight.

Any suggestions, does anyone else do this?

Hey Reindeergirl!

I have pretty straight hair but i always want it to be SUPER straight. I've owned 3 different straighteners and the first two sucked total ass. One was a clamp straightener and the other was a flat iron. I found that they just killed my hair and didn't even straighten it as much as i wanted. Then i went and bought a ceramic plate straightener. They're a little more pricey than metal plate straighteners, but they definitely do the trick.

When it comes to the clothing iron, i've done that myself. The important thing to remember is to place a damp towel over your hair and run the iron over the towel. It prevents any extreme heat damage to your hair.

Also, i find that if you use a straightening cream, or an anti-frizz cream, it helps keep your hair soft as you straighten it. Thermasilk has some good stuff like that. :)

i look gay with shorter hair

i dont even have long hair it barely goes to my eyebrows!

my parents are on the conservative side

Bah! I love curly hair! Guys with curly hair look even cutter than girls! :D

I have a con-air ceramic straightening iron.. if I find a picture of it, I will post it.

I am considering buying a salon straightener as they actually work very well, but I don't want to dish out $200 (or more) unless I know that what Iam buying will actually work.

Also, there is the option of chemical straightening. Has anyone tried this?

When the sides of my hair were longer, and I used a curling iron and wanted it PERFECTLY straight, it did take a while. But it was worth it.

I have a blue plated Curl Master hair straightener.... It makes my hair pretty straight, but with body.. I dont know if that is good or not, but ive gone to salon store and seen REALLY nice straightener that with one stroke of your hair, the wave is dead, but these were like 110 bucks!!

Dont ever use a plain gold medal straightener, those are like death to your hair.. incase any of yall didnt know that. I havent had a bad experience.. but a friend of mine has.....

 :wink3:

lol! your such a cutie when you look like that!

Good night :snore:

:wink3:

My hair is naturally straight but I use a flat iron to get the frizz out of it.

I think this kind of irons aren't very good for the hair, it could be damaged.

My hair is not straight and not curly, it's weird. Twice I use chemical straighteners on the hairdresser and they worked fine, but you need to work a bit with the hair dryer after washing.

Different kind of haircuts could help you so. Now I have a haircut who is comfortable and fantastic to get straight.

The serums are a good help too. I always use it before drying.

I have long straight brown hair!!!!!!!!!....... :wink3:

oh...yeah I saw your pic Jess...beautiful hair!.....sometimes I do the same!.... ;)

Ya, I'm going to ask for one of them for my birthday since they're pretty expensive and I don't have enough money to buy one myself haha.

My friend got chemical straightening done and her hair turned out really well. But you know what sounds really good but is uber expensive? Japanese Thermal Reconditioning. I think a lot of the celebrities get it done, and it doesn't sound as damaging as other chemical straighteners. But I'm not sure though...I don't know too much about it.

I had my hair chemically straightened for a wedding once. It worked really well at first but i found that it kinda killed my hair, particularly my ends got really dry. A whole lot of conditioner was needed afterwards.

Michella, I've heard of that Japanese Thermal Reconditioning process. Apparently it makes your hair like, baby soft! I want baby soft hair! :stunned:
