In a sure sign of the apocalypse, Pitchfork, that infamous indie rock trendsetter, has given the new Coldplay live album (which was released on 15th May) a 6.8 out of 10, which in Pitchfork terms equals a pretty frackin' high score, reported Graffiti Magazine earlier today. After you've put your eyeballs back in their sockets, you can read the review they were referring to:   When most of the world first met Chris Martin, he was a sad dude wandering around a beach in his windbreaker and singing

The available tickets to Sunday's Juno Awards sold out in 15 minutes, so telecast executive producer John Brunton’s enthusiasm isn't calculated to boost the box office.   "It’s going to be unbelievable. The show is shaping up to be a barnburner. Strap your seatbelts on, baby," he said during a phone interview conducted earlier in the week while he attended Canadian Idol auditions in Ottawa.   He is concerned, however, with drawing a television crowd to the two-hour show starting at 8 p.m. on CTV

We've had a good response to our latest poll - over 3200 votes have been cast in just a few weeks. We asked you what your favourite video from Viva la Vida era was - and interestingly the last three videos that Coldplay put out are so far the most popular. Shynola's hard work on the Strawberry Swing is recognised as it gets the highest number of votes, followed by the creativity of the Life In Technicolor ii stage-show in second and the fast-paced Lovers In Japan follows closely in third.   You

The hunt for the next big music star is on!   Bosses at Dagenham's renowned sound studio MusicTek have launched an X Factor-style contest in a bid to unearth the next Justin Timberlake, Chris Martin or Gwen Stefani.   With the chance to headline a festival and record an album, organisers are expecting competition to be fierce. Contestants will be given top-drawer vocal coaching and - if they make it through an audition - will get the chance to perform in front of audiences with a band as the num

Coldplay may have made their name with heart-stirring rock ballads, reports The Sun. But that’s about to change thanks to drummer Will Champions’s tinkering in the studio. The tub-thumper wants to take the rockers on a rave odyssey after investing in some top-of-the-range beat-making equipment.   Recent sessions have seen the sticks-man unveil a thundering, 168-beats-per- minute banger of a track. That’s proper hands in the air, big fish, little fish, cardboard box tempo. And at that speed it’s

The time has again come to have a good long look at the music world around us and ask ourselves: "What albums did we like this year?" [thanks Space Cadet]   We are now accepting your favourite albums from the past 12 months in preparation for the December countdown in the World Of Music forum at the Coldplaying messageboard. All you have to do is make a personal list of at least 5 and as many as 25 of your favorite original studio albums (no live albums, eps, compilations, or rereleases, sorry)

The Sun's 'Bizarre' Editor Vic was given a farewell present by Coldplay - a goodbye picture. Here's what she had to say about Coldplay:   I’m a huge fan of COLDPLAY and I have followed them since they first emerged as one of Britain’s best bands in 2000. I have interviewed CHRIS MARTIN a few times and bumped into him at different gigs during my time as Bizarre boss.   Chris, GUY, JONNY and WILL took time out at Coldplay HQ to draw the brilliant goodbye picture. Needless to say it will be framed

Coldplay have hinted at a surprise for fans during their set at this weekend's Sydney Sound Relief concert, and are rumoured to be joined on stage by John Farnham to perform his iconic hit You're The Voice when they open the bushfire and flood benefit concert on Saturday.   Chris Martin played coy when asked about it ahead of the first Sydney concert of their Australian tour tonight. "Nothing particularly special is happening, probably at the end of the set," the singer said with a knowing smil

Advance sales for next year's T in the Park festival broke all previous records yesterday, when 25,000 tickets were sold in less than three hours.   Music fans inundated the festival's hotlines with calls to get a ticket for next year's event, without even knowing the line-up. The first 20,000 tickets released for T in the Park 2006 went on sale at 9am and sold out before 11:30am. An extra 5,000 were sold by noon.   Last year, it took just under a month for 20,000 advance tickets to be sold. T
