    UPDATE: The O2 pre-sale for the 2012 UK stadium tour has now sold out, according to the O2priority website!   Last week Coldplay announced a UK tour for next year, playing stadiums in Coventry, London, Sunderland and Manchester - in that order - and priority tickets for O2 customers go on sale from 9am GMT (Wednesday), with the general sale following on Friday.     Universal Music, the world's biggest record company, is poised to announce the £1.2bn purchase of EMI's recorded music division, home to the Beatles, Coldplay and Tinie Tempah, according to almost a thousand online sources across the world, today.     Coldplay have announced five stadium shows in the UK for May/June 2012 - will a promise of more dates in North America and Europe to follow. They will play all the venues for the very first time - Coventry's Ricoh Arena (home of Coventry City FC), Stadium of Light (home to Sunderland AFC), Emirates Stadium in London (home to Arsenal FC) and Etihad Stadium (home to Manchester City FC).     Digital albums sales in the UK this year have already passed the total amount sold in 2010, according to the NME today. The British Phonographic Industry (BPI) has revealed that 21.3 million digital copies of albums have been sold in 2011, breaking the record set last year with two months of the year remaining, according to the Official Charts Company.   They also report that this year, digital albums represented 26.2% of all albums sales, which is up from 17.5% from 2010.     Coldplay's Mylo Xyloto has smashed a new digital record in landing the Number 1 spot in yesterday’s Official Albums Chart, the Official Charts Company can confirm today - the new studio album scored the biggest one week digital albums tally of all time in the UK – becoming the first album to top 80,000 downloads in a week as it did so.     Coldplay have gone straight to number one in the UK with their fifth studio album Mylo Xyloto, which sold 208,000 copies in its first week, according to the BBC this evening. The album, which was withheld from streaming service Spotify, outsold the rest of the top five put together.     Coldplay have played tracks from their new album Mylo Xyloto for the first time in the UK since its release, at the University of East Anglia in Norwich last night (27th October 2011). They performed a 75-minute set in front of 1,500 fans at Norwich's East Anglia University - most of which was streamed live on Radio 1 around the world.
