  1. In my Place (Live in Buenos Aires with Will singing vs. Death Will Never Conquer (Live Will singing)
  2. I read up on the success of Blinding Lights yesterday and I saw that the Weeknd has used EXACTLY the same word about Max Martin, curiously. That they have a great friendship and it's like a marriage that has come together...
  3. Welcome to the forums! And yeah I absolutely agree with you.
  4. Well, yeah? Why not? These songs would work perfectly in concert.
  5. Official instrumental of Higher Power:
  6. Could be some truth in there because in that one interview with Will and Guy, Guy was asked if they tried to record an 80s sounding song and he said that it was not at all planned, but while working on it they realized the song was asking to sound like this....
  7. Not gonna lie, hearing in a couple of interviews (e.g. Zane Lowe) today that Chris had to audition the songs for Max Martin before the producer decided if he would work on them gave me traumatic pre-AHFOD album release flashbacks. Because in interviews back then Chris said the exact same thing about Stargate. I know Max Martin is leagues above Stargate, but still i feel this spells no good for the album. I feel like all recent albums where big name producers had a power over the band's input weren't as good as the ones where the producers were less high-profile people who grew up alongside the band and have worked with them for a long time like Rik Simpson, Dan Green and the Dream Team.
  8. Yeah, my hopes are also on not all songs of LP9 being poppy. And I hope the Asian influence on the backig vocal melodies in Higher Power is pursued in more depth. We know that Chris at least worked with Jacob Collier recently too, so he might be on LP9 as well.
  9. Sadly, as you said they would never do this. I'm afraid they have also moved well beyond the sound of that brilliant song by now...
  10. It might be! After the success of the For You shake and the Scientist breakdance it will become massive.
  11. No, I don't agree with that. I don't think new Coldplay songs are songs. I feel like the old Coldplay songs were so much songier songs. (yes, I'm poking fun at myself here ?)
  12. Guess we can all agree on THAT lmao I know it's a typo but this sentence is so funny ?
  13. I think you can close that bracket in your signature with "2020" ?
  14. Oh yes that one too!! Absolutely.
  15. I honestly prefer Coldplay without big collabs, but since this is not gonna happen...I've always thought Coldplay x Lana del Rey could be amazing.
  16. I think it's lazy writing, especially if it's not even a full sentence or meaningful phrase that is being repeated (I don't mind "Open up your eyes", for example) but some meaningless snippets ("you've got - yeah you've got -"). It's the same for me for some songs that I immediately love. Like most recently Arabesque, I heard it once and loved it already. It's the songs that I'm not immediately sure about that take more listens for me.
  17. At this point I'm not sure what to think of the song tbh. I like some parts of it, like the intro and the Eastern Asian vibes and background chants - more of that influence on the album, please! But other parts were too generic for my liking. I don't get why everyone loves the bridge. The repetitive lyrics in the bridge ("You've got - a higher - yeah you've got" etc.) were the worst of the entire song. Then Jonny's guitar was missing in my opinion. SJLT was saved by Jonny's great riff for me, this song has none at all... The last part/outro was good but could have used some more power (no pun intended), or at least following through the melodic change that was slightly hinted at with the last "You've got" of the chorus. I felt there was some missed potential there. EDIT: Oops, sent off the post too early. I wanted to say that I feel it will be the kind of song that grows on me with more listens, and I definitely have to listen many more times to get a complete feel for it! And then I guess I'll know if I like it or not.
  18. I'm so happy that you love it, but...in years? Where have you been during Everyday Life ?
  19. I can't help feeling a tad alienated (if you'll excuse the pun) with regard to the new era. Like when AHFOD was released, only a bit better this time because EL gave me confidence that they can still be great - if, like @nvdmmsaid above, they choose to. Not gonna lie, even if there are parts of the song that I like (e.g. the Eastern Asian chant vibes and the intro, and some other bits), I can't help but feel it's not the same band as the one I fell in love with.
  20. They are in all likelihood simply pink shoelaces!
  21. That's hella short if you consider that the song itself is 3:31...where does Thomas Pesquet even come in there?
  22. Chris's vocals were so great! The rest has been restoring his voice and it sounds better than during the whole GS-AHFOD period imho!! I didn't notice any audio issues to be honest, I wonder if I didn't have them?
