I read this and I am speechless. Is this a joke ?? Is this for real ? I really wanted to help but if this is what you are trying to do, I have to say I'm not going to contribute to that in any way. If these really were original signatures and you made that mistake - alright, shit happens, but at least own up to it. Be honest with your friend and tell him exactly what happened, instead of trying to cover it up and fake the signatures. That's my advice. Hope everything works out alright for you.

Sadly, I agree that it is probably a one-off, because its roots are in an older Era :( But together with Hypnotised and AICTAIY I do think it might indicate that the band are getting better again. Although their output is quite hit and miss on Kaleidoscope EP (SJLT...) for me personally the EP has 3 good songs vs. 2 not so good ones, which is a much better ratio than on the AHFOD album for example :)

Exactly, Eno's influence brought them onto the path that would eventually change their sound and style for good. But in the meantime they got so mainstream poppy (Stargate...) that many of us wish Eno to be back because no one denies that VLVODAAHF is much more artful and experimental than their recent stuff...

In the rush of adventures (2xFrankfurt, Hamburg...) of the past few days I almost forgot, but there is the B-sides repeat listening party tomorrow/today (July 8)! I really love ALIENS. Upon first listen I couldn't believe this was Coldplay, and I felt the song to be a bit inaccessible and hard to grasp, but I felt it would be a grower and indeed after not even a day that it's out I can't stop listening to it. It has such a beautiful underlying sadness, and Chris's vocals sound very clear (ahem AICTAIY, i'm looking at you !!), almost like they used to sound earlier. Love this song. Along with Hypnotised my top two of Kaleidoscope EP (AICTAIY would be up there too if it weren't so awfully produced in the studio version)

Yeah, I was also a bit sad that this didn't turn out to be ALIENS in the end (even though it is a good song), cause I really really loved that guitar riff.

UPDATE 2: The song has just been out for 17 hours or so but it's already one of my favorite Coldplay releases in recent times. Can't stop listening to it

Update: Already grew on me after a few listens, can't stop listening to. Sad and beautiful...

Listened to this song twice now, here are somw thoughts: During the first listen I kept the beat and synths caught me so off-guard that I kept thinking "Is this even Coldplay ?" So unlike anything they have done before Refresheningly different from what they usually release, it seems they are finding their way back to more original music again ! Love the underlying melancholy/sadness in the song, which is evidently about refugees losing their home. This isn't a song that seems immediately accessible, I found it very hard to grasp and "alienating" but I think it's one of these songs that grows on you A good release !
