I ran away

I would so like I Ran Away to be played live. Just once....

I am going to Boston Gillette Stadium on July 30, if I stay in the US that long...I bought two tickets just in case I have someone to accompany me. I wanted to give it to someone special, but this person doesn't like Coldplay...

Right now, listening to the Ghost Stories Album. As you probably know it is one of my least favourite Coldplay albums, but there are rare moments when I want to listen to it. I found that in the middle of the night, when you are down, it's actually not that bad. And you're always in my head :(

Here is my entry ! It's about how listening to Coldplay songs helped me get through a dark period of my life, every single day. Many of my emotional connections to particular Coldplay songs still go back to this time. As far as I can see, all pop and mainstreamry is wrong. Coldplay, come home to me. You've been away from me so long. So long....

I am also a bit worried for the tour after hearing the NME set and now this....

I watched the BRITS performance of HFTW and I have to say....no offence, but Coldplay looked ridiculous in that. I feel this song is just very awkward live, and flowers and confetti are not making it better. I watched a performance of Talk immediately before that and I was like, is this even the same band ?

I just got laughed at because I told someone I collect Coldplay CD's.... :( I want to say I'm sorry that I hardly visit the forum at the moment, and that I didn't respond to a few private messages or threads I should have responded to. Just going through a very stressful and somewhat depressing period at the moment. Funnily enough, I noticed Up&Up has grown a little on me in the past couple days. Hope I'm gonna get it together, somehow.

When my Coldplay tickets arrived from Ticketmaster by mail yesterday, I hung them to the wall next to my desk. They should serve me as a reminder that I have to work hard in order for my project to succeed so that I can stay in the US until July and see Coldplay ! I hope this will come true !

Off-topic, but from Rihanna I really like Stay. That's about it, apart from (somewhat) Princess Of China.

Oops sorry, I meant LP8 :D I'm really worried they might turn to rap, or hip hop, or just in general melody-lacking vocals over drum-loops (XMTS anyone ?) I would like them to return to the sound and richness in melodies of the AROBTTH, X&Y or even Viva Eras. I would like the songwriting and lyrics to be like earlier, and the themes to be a bit deeper than 'my heart got broken and now you make me feel alive again, believe in love'. For example, themes like the passage of time and memories would be great. I would like them to leave out electronic drums, pop and dance beats and too much computer-produced music in favor of just sitting in a room together and recording something that feels warm and organic. Give me real, don't give me fake.

I think the foundations for the sound of LP9 are being set right now and in the coming months. That Chris listens to Selena Gomez and Drake makes me lose hope. On the other hand Joni Mitchell is a good influence, would wish his tastes to go down that lane rather than the others....

Unfortunately my hopes for a lengthy hiatus that might save the band have been destroyed by Chris saying in that NME interview that they will probably return soon to the studio after their world tour....please not !!

I think he was just referring to the fact that their Seven - full-length albums contract with Parlophone, which begain with Parachutes, ended. Unfortunately I think for a major transformation they would need a major hiatus, which the latest NME interview gives me little hope for since Chris said they aim to be back in the studio soon after the world tour...

Have been away for some days from the forum ! So busy these days... Anyway, yesterday the same coffeeshop that played Fun played Sparks !!!!!!!!!! (do I sense a person with great musical taste among the staff ? :D)

All valid speculations. Yes, it's really hard to tell what category Up&Up falls into :) Let's wait and see.

Coldplay always gets bashed and trampled on by so many people. It is as if it has become some kind of a sport to bash and hate Coldplay, which is sad to see. But I think it is symptomatic of our times, and the main reason is that after all we live in a superficial world, yeah we do, yeah we do...

Yeah but we already have three singles with videos from AHFOD (AOAL, Birds, HFTW) so I think Up&Up might fall into this category of secondary singles that get no video, like What If or White Shadows. At least that's my theory :)
