Old Friends sounds like it could be lifted straight from Parachutes. Low key one of the best songs on the album.

Everyday Life and depression
Mental health is such a serious problem that gets ignored in society. Especially in my own demographic of young men in their twenties, I know all too well how depression can take someone’s beautiful soul and just wreck it entirely. I went through a rough patch in 2015 where things in life just got on top of me. I was feeling really down and didn’t see much light at the end of the tunnel.. but I pulled through in the end, my circumstances changed and I’m in a much better place now. So all I would say to you is this... hang in there because you never know what tomorrow might bring. I salute your braveness for speaking out and in regards about how EL is making you feel worse, the album and the band will still be there, just wait until your in a better frame of mind. There’s more to life than just Coldplay.

Everyday Life Leak Discussion [SPOILERS INSIDE]
So now we’ve all heard the album I still have a few unanswered questions. What relation does the old-timey cover art, references to 1919 come from? There’s no music like that on the album really Why were the thumbnails of those songs turned black and white, what relation do they have to the album? Why was it put into two halves? To me you could interchange any of the songs on either sunrise/sunset and it wouldn’t really drastically change anything.

Everyday Life Structure: X&Y + Viva
A double album of AHFOD new play.. Shudder at the thought of it.

Everyday Life Leak Discussion [SPOILERS INSIDE]
The stretch from Eko to the end is the best part of the album for me. While I think Trouble in Town and Arabesque are the stand outs in the entirety, the latter end has such a warm feeling that hasn’t been on a Coldplay LP since Parachutes (Or maybe X&Y) It feels that Chris is just melodically hugging you, begging for you think introspectively and about the wider world. Some great falsetto singing there too. I love it. Cry Cry Cry sort of breaks that immersion there a little bit. It seems to me that would have been better placed at the end as a hidden closer, it strikes me as a Life is for Living type of song. Song placement is a minor gripe for this album. An absolutely stunning return to form.

Everyday Life Structure: X&Y + Viva
I think the whole “double album” thing from them is just a bit of a marketing gimmick like the way they said MX was a concept album when it wasn’t really a concept album in any sort of traditional sense. They’ve said in the past that would never do an album more than 45 minutes long too. I think also it’s a way for them to justify to themselves a way of having a longer album.

They’re definitely back. This album and the last 3 are like night and day.

Everyday Life Leak Discussion [SPOILERS INSIDE]
Not every song needs every member of the band. That sort of thinking is what leads to the bombastic ness of MX.

Everyday Life Leak Discussion [SPOILERS INSIDE]
I disagree, I really like the intensity it adds to the song. The voice samples are really good in my opinion, it adds a very interesting dimension to the songs.

Everyday Life Leak Discussion [SPOILERS INSIDE]
All the songs sound different on Viva though and people tend to say that’s one of the stronger elements of that record. So to the people who think the album is a bit messy and lacks cohesiveness, what makes the difference on Viva good, but not good on EL?

Daddy sounds like a b side from the AROBTTH or Parachutes era (and I mean that in the best possible way)

Why would you do that?!

Everyday Life Leak Discussion [SPOILERS INSIDE]
I don’t think there was many people “scream, kick and whining” just people who weren’t happy with the direction the band was going. If you have gripes with this album, we’d all be happy to hear them, that’s what this website is for at the end of the day. If you want the next album to be AHFOD 2.0, people will disagree with you but no one will stop you from saying that. If you really want to sit this era out then fair play, but who’s saying anyone has to do that?

Everyday Life Leak Discussion [SPOILERS INSIDE]
I’m very surprised you feel that way if I’m honest and I’m sorry you don’t like it. I suppose you’ll never please everyone in the fandom. Looks like the shoe is on the other foot now and you’ll have to start wondering what you, as a newplayer, would like the band to do next.

Everyday Life Leak Discussion [SPOILERS INSIDE]
Yeah definitely the weakest on the album for me. I think probably because it was produced by you know who...

LP8 Thread - Everyday Life
I think if you have every intention of buying the album it’s okay to listen to the leaks. The above argument is a bit strange, we don’t know how long we’ll have to wait for new Coldplay because this album is not being toured, so we should wait even longer to listen to Coldplay when a leak of the whole album is already out there? I don’t see the logic in that if I’m honest. If you’re still dead set against listening now I’d advise you to stay away from any Coldplay sites because, if you’re anything like me, you wouldn’t be able to wait after reading what people have been saying.

Everyday Life Leak Discussion [SPOILERS INSIDE]
They were big concerts but I don’t think they were any improvement over the MX era ones. The were more or less the same with a far worse set list.

There’s no songs like ASFOS or Princess of China so I’ll think you’ll be disappointed :joy:

WOTW/POTP has a real Parachutes (the song) essence to it.

Everyday Life Leak Discussion [SPOILERS INSIDE]
I wish I could forget it all and listen for the first time again. Took me about an hour after to pick my jaw up from the floor. If it wasn’t for Chris’ vocals I would have seriously doubted I was listening to an album released by Coldplay in 2019.

Everyday Life Leak Discussion [SPOILERS INSIDE]
The more I listen the more I love it. Brave, Raw, Emotional. I take my hat of to them, because I didn’t think after the last few years they had an album like this in them. There’s plenty to like on here for all types of Coldplay fans because they’ve taken their best elements and wrapped it up in one beautiful package. I guess the old Coldplay were not “dead and buried” like I thought. They were just in a blissful sleep waiting to come back again.

Honestly, You’ll really like Trouble in Town. It’s a similar vibe to Cemeteries of London but much better in my opinion.
