  1. soooooo from what i've just heard, one of my all time favourite bands are coming home if not just that, finding new homes too 1) arabesque. GODDAMN. Stone Roses vibes? you were right about that. horns/sax/brass overload? you were right about that, too. this thing is wild, it's like nothing I've heard from Coldplay since 2014... 2) orphans. yeah, this is destined to be a radio smash. but it's totally not overproduced or stamped with Beyonce's name...it's just the boys doing one of the many things they do best, creating a catchy-ass pop rock song. i mean, maybe Chris could do away with the 'oohs' and the 'woos' (please? pretty please? lol)...but that's like asking a 7 year old to give up Fortnite. loads of U2 influence here, too. i'm genuinely hoping each track on this album sounds nothing like any of the others...cause that's the sort of idea i'm getting from this love both. welcome home.
  2. HNGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! almost everything i've read so far is giving me good vibes. can someone time-jump us forward an hour so I can hear this thing?
  3. if it’s Daddy I’ll launch a computer chair out my big window
  4. well, tonight's the night bois. gotta say, after reading/hearing about everything to do with LP8, i'm very excited... ...an album about 'how they feel about things'? a Stone Roses-esque track? some of these lyrics? explicit content? the fact the whole thing is a double album, which is way more than what we've ever got before on a single release? honestly, after hearing the Kaleidoscope EP back in 2017, it was apparent to me that the guys were gonna go back and do something crunchy again...and we've finally arrived (at what at least appears to be) a potential new sound. and considering how fucked the world is at this current state in time, and how many artists are speaking their hearts/rebelling with love (IDLES, The 1975, Foals, Kero Kero Bonito, grandson, slowthai, Childish Gambino, black midi, Billie Eilish, Sum 41, A Perfect Circle, just to name a few), this couldn't have arrived at a better time. PLEASE DON'T BE AHFOD 2.0.
  5. DOUBLE ALBUM? i'm really fucking on board now loving almost everything about this so far
  6. a beautiful & atmospheric piece of music that brings the Winter season to mind, and not just it's cover 8/10 LET'S GET SOME IRISH-NESS UP IN HERE
  7. yooooooooo i'm all here for some 'experimental' shit seeing that the teasers are now everywhere, i think it's time to prepare for November 22
  8. QUICK UPDATE ON MY MIXTAPE, FUTUREWORLDS_002: I'll likely get mine done last, of all the tapes. I want to make sure I'm happy with everything on it, so it'll probably be finished in a month's time. Due to multiple other things, such as college work/personal work, I've not been able to get nearly as far with this tape as I expected. Just wanted to clarify.
  9. ...only me that's beginning to prefer Liam (as a person) to Noel?
  10. I'd love for some new CP material next year, and I'm hoping it's as far away from AHFOD as humanly possible. Awesome that Chris is getting the guys involved in Global Citizen again, too (with Muse, RHCP, Metallica and Billie Eilish, to add:)). but yeah...that's a terrible setlist
  11. Coldplay Radiohead Nine Inch Nails IDLES Tool
  12. Time to give this another go, after ANOTHER year hiatus. The Coldplaying Mixtape Exchange is a fun way to discover new music while also giving you the chance to share music that you enjoy with other Coldplayers. Basically what happens is that you'll be given the name of the person who you will be making your mixtape for, and all you have to do is get together some songs that you really like, that go well together, and/or that your partner has most likely never heard before; but you must not let anyone know who you're making your mixtape for, and your partner must not know what exactly he or she is listening to - it has to be a surprise! After your partner reviews your mixtape, you will then get to reveal yourself and the tracklisting. You will of course be receiving a mixtape to review as well! How this works? 1. Sign up saying you want to participate - leave your name on the thread 2. When the deadline for signing up is over, you'll get a PM from me giving you the name of another participant in the Exchange. You will be making a mix for this person, whoever they may be 3. You mustn't reveal who you are making the mix for, on pain of being tickled by a thousand feathers 4. Make your mix-tape (average length is around 50-70 minutes) and delete the info for each song. The person must not know what songs/artists are on the mixtape. Rather than just calling the songs 'Track 1', 'Track 2' etc you could be creative and make up fake titles. 5. Upload the mix-tape to something like MEGA.nz and send me the link and a tracklisting. I will then send it to the person assigned to you, keeping your identity a secret of course! 6. When you receive a mix-tape, listen to it, write a review and post it in this thread. 7. The person who made the mix-tape will then post the track-list and the link so everybody can download it. Simple as that. Note: Please make sure before you sign up that you're actually going be able to follow through on this, or at least let me know before the deadline ends if you're going to be too busy to participate and you need your name taken off of the list. In past mixtape exchanges, several people never received mixtapes or reviews because their mixtaper/mixtapee never bothered to go through with it, and that's pretty inconsiderate to those who worked hard to make a mixtape and never got anything in return. Mixtape exchanges only happen a couple times a year so they're to be taken pretty seriously. The deadline for signing up is October 20th 2019(GMT)and you will have some time to create your mixtapes in for 19th November 2019. Here is a good guideline for deleting the song information: The Song Information Deletion Tutorial 1. Find the tracks you plan on putting on your mixtape, and copy-and-paste them to a new folder, away from all the other stuff. You can either right-click and find "copy" and "paste," or you can use the shortcuts (Ctrl + C for copy and Ctrl + V for paste). 2. Once you've done that, go track by track, right-click, choose "Properties," and clear everything. Remember to change track numbers if you have a specific order (and almost everyone does, so...yeah). Also, it's helpful to name your album, even if it's something as simple as "mixtape." If you want, you can fill in the blank spots with fake information to add a personal touch to the mix. Once you've done all that, click OK. You'll have to do this separately with each track. 3. Move that folder into your iTunes library by clicking and dragging it into iTunes when it's open, and go through the tracks one by one and double-check everything. Typically, the one thing that usually needs to be altered if anything is the album art. In that case, just select your entire mixtape (either by going under "Edit" and choosing "Select all" or just typing your mixtape name and using Ctrl + A), right-click on it, choose "Get Info," and clear all of it using the options in that menu. 4. Compress your mixtape into a .zip or .rar, upload, and give the link to the head of the exchange. Looking forward to your involvement soon P.S: If I like your post mentioning you are participating the exchange, that means you will be on the list I'll be uploading my mixtape of mystery songs either tonight, at the weekend, or at some point next week, but it will be for everyone to listen to and review, unlike the others that you will make. It's a sequel to the previous one, titled futureworlds_002. __________________________ The participants: yoyo2000 The Jordanator I ran away (I apologise for the all-over-the-place nature of this year's exchange. Next year, if it does happen, I will make sure that we get more people participating, and also mixtapes passed around quicker/reviews coming in earlier). __________________________ futureworlds_002 download link: https://mega.nz/#F!P0U1UIrS!xFw9fBaOhAk1xysxWbscZQ listen in this order: 1) *thoughts processing in a dream* 2) good morning 3) an interference in the signal 4) drinking & vibing 5) judgemental people/vault code 6) vampire masquerade 7) newfound power 8) as you stop to think... 9) the eruption 10) falling debris 11) inception 12) interception 13) hijack 14) access 15) the truth 16) outrun the collapse 17) bios corrosion 18) the shutdown (DISCLAIMER: while I'm happy with the majority of this mixtape, there is one thing I need to note. due to the lack of space (i think?) on my laptop, some of the transitions between tracks sound slightly glitched. at some point in the future, i intend to upload a version of this mixtape with completely seamless transitions after A) i buy a new laptop (speaker's fucked, too) or B) clear space on my hard drive). aside from that... e n j o y
  13. ...right, I'm back. Fill me in on anything, would ya?
  14. [spoiler=Honest opinion]Fuck yeah. I'm all for that.:)
  15. sure, if you want to do that. maybe you'll interest a couple of people in the process. :)
  16. i don't know, tbh. people seem to be creating/posting on other threads and this one seems to have been left in the dark. if all has truly come to a halt here, then maybe when the next exchange happens we can continue where this one left off first, before you all create your next tapes.
  17. ...that's a simple answer: Jon Hopkins and Treefingers. I'd probably say that Radiohead was the band who not only introduced me to other ambient artists, but also loads of other rock/alternative artists as well. (But I wouldn't have been introduced to Radiohead if it wasn't for Coldplay's blog post about them failing to play Paranoid Android, lol)
  18. Imagine Dragons...the band that doesn't want to embrace rock...a lot. Personally, when I see other people shitting on this band, I can understand where they're coming from, but truth be told, they clearly haven't heard shit like I'm So Sorry or Friction. That shit fucking slaps. Or even their more Coldplay-esque stuff like Hear Me. Or, more a obvious one: Radioactive. When they and K. Dot did that live at the Grammys (same year as Metallica and NIN...what the fuck happened to that show??) it was apparent to me that they (unlike Coldplay) could have been a band to embrace a heavier sound and be the true face of rock. I love Coldplay, and yes I'm still dreaming for them to record something as gritty as the live version of GPASYF, but they are a band that fits with a lot of styles (not bubblegum pop though FUCK NO:)). ID? To me, they are the band that works best as a rock band, because they truly pull it off. The energy of their live shows is insane and incredible. Such a shame that they are choosing to cater towards the masses. Their last two albums are utter trash. Thunder is probably one of the most annoying songs ever recorded, bar none. It seems as if they are going to continue down this route, though, unfortunately.
  19. it would seem as if the person i sent it to has yet to respond. that's a shame. hopefully they will eventually. they should, at least. they definitely recieved it.
  20. Frank Ocean's younger brother? :joy:
  21. Well, I've just heard the EP, and I do have a couple of thoughts/opinions: - E-Lo, no matter how much I listen to it...I just can't get into it. this song would work better as a Pharrell-only track. like, if he brought N.E.R.D. on here or something, I could probably vibe with it better. - Voodoo is kinda cool. Jonny still doing a good jobs with his licks. Loving Guy's bass, too. Hell, everyone else on this track sound like they belong on it...except Chris. Holy shit, Chris, to me anyways, DOESN'T fit here in the slightest. Stargate and Guetta fucking things up as per usual, too (production-wise). - Timbuktu is probably the best of the tracks. Chris fits here the best out of the four. I'm not a grime person whatsoever, but Stormzy's flow works very well on this one. I quite like this one. - Rise Up is kinda house-y. It's cool. Very world music. Fits well with the theme of the EP. Overall, I think this is a perfectly fine EP as a side-project for Coldplay. Chris though...don't get me wrong, I love the man, he's the heart and soul of the band we know and love. But here...he sounds very out-of-place. I mean, it's nice to see that he's having fun experimenting in this genre of music, and that he's doing it for a good cause, but as someone who adores songs like Atlas and Clocks, yeah, I hope he doesn't stick with this sound for the next album. If he wants to, and the others want to, then cool. But I'm out if they do. It's just not my scene, and this sort of pop production pisses me off. I mean, soundcloud rap is more intrestingly produced than some of the tracks on here. It's too clean. It feels too manufactured.
