THE MORNING- an upcoming short film project
Hello, fellow Coldplay fans. I have not been here for a long time to make any sort of announcement like this, but I have something I want to share with you all. Just before you ask- no this is NOT Coldplay related- but it’s very much in the interest of you all, and something I’m sure the guys in the band themselves would very much like the idea of- bringing people together. I am currently in the process of working on my first ever short film, titled ‘The Morning’. So far, I have shot 50% of it with two friends and I’m currently editing what I have filmed together. It was written by me, and I am also starring in it. There is still more footage we have yet to shoot- and very soon we will arrange this- but at the moment I am gathering together something that is a large part of the film- voice clips. Yes, you heard me right- voice clips. These voice clips are coming from various people around both the social sphere and of whom I know in real life. In the film, my character hears various voices while he is walking around in a place that appears to be normal at first but soon turns into something quite the opposite. These voices are a seminal piece of what throws my character off into a psychological frenzy. While the story of this film is dark and unsettling, the idea behind it is not. Not only is this a passion project for myself, but it is also a collaborative project- ideal given the circumstances at the moment- in bringing people together from all around. I’d love for as many people as possible on Coldplaying to be apart of this. The way in which that is possible is as follows... Send a voice clip of yourself to my email ([email protected]) whispering the phrase ‘come closer’. After I have received all the clips from everyone I’ve asked, I’m gonna layer them on top of each other to create something ultimately horrifying- but truly beautiful. I can’t wait to put this out into the world. Jack x

Everyday Life and depression
christ. @cp3176 , a lot of this speaks to me. the voice inside your head? the fears of 'monsters' killing you as a form of it in earlier life? (for me, this was anything that was remotely 'scary' as a kid) the fact that sometimes that voice can be so loud that it ruins great times in your life? i reach out to you man. this isn't far off from the shit i've been going through.

Everyday Life and depression
hello @I ran away , and all the other coldplayers who've had rough times. i want to tell you, my friend, that you are absolutely not alone in this, and we're all reaching out to hug you. as an album that talks about deep subject matter, i totally get that listening to EL in such a mood can worsen it. for me, personally, listening to music or watching tv/movies have been the solace to bring me out of dark places. believe it or not, i have had really bad anxiety throughout the last couple of years, and most recently, i was diagnosed with ASD. the days within this time have ranged from blissful to absolute hell...i almost lost a friend who was really close to me due to stupid decisions, i completely lost track of where i was when first talking to new people in public, and have worried/overthought so many things that i'm pretty sure i sweat excessively every day. my head may be a clusterfuck, but i try to leave all my mistakes/things that i'm not proud of in the past and live in the present day. it's difficult when you've got so much bullshit going round in your head, but it's something that i have done over and over, and the other side is (no pun intended) paradise. mental health should be addressed more in society. it's disgraceful the way some people think that it doesn't exist. i love you all.

REQUEST: a much better studio version of the title track
i love your version, without a doubt. you are right in terms of what we have that the band have given us...but we could re-record sections or even try to use audio from live performances (obviously not the way i did it). i'm determined to get it closer, cause i feel like it can totally be if mulitple people get involved. it's just an idea, but it's one that's been in my head for ages.

REQUEST: a much better studio version of the title track
Hello fellow Coldplayers. Now, you may not be aware, but a couple of years back I decided to try and remake AHFOD (the album) and, to be honest, looking at the (sort of draft) result, I wasn't satisfied. I didn't dedicate myself to that project, had many issues with some of the tracks (some of which weren't even mine to begin with, they were done by other people), and overall, it was probably one of the most half-baked things I've ever done. One of the biggest annoyances on that 'remake' was my version of the title track, 'A Head Full Of Dreams', which I essentially just took out the bass to try and hear the guitar more and slotted in the live version at the end in a much poorer quality. Multiple other people on this forum have also tried to re-create this track, but in my opinion, no one has come as close as @nowayme. His version was probably the nearest thing we could've got to the live version. HOWEVER, I'm sure we can get closer. Despite how good that version is, it's still got plenty of issues (e.g. that 'bubble-like' synth effect that mimics the bass being extremely loud). In my honest opinion, I don't think the AHFOD tour version of the song is even the best version. I think that title has to go to the 2015 live performances of the song: When I first heard this song on it's initial debut (the Belasco gig), I couldn't help but love everything about it. On that performance of the track in particular, I can hear all of the guys' instruments, less of the annoying sound effects (they're still there but they're very faint in the mix) and an extended Color Spectrum 'sparkles' outro. I also prefer Jonny's guitar intro without the slides. Also, as much as I love the Charlie Chaplin speech, the ambience of the Color Spectrum sample on it's own is beautiful in it's own right. If anyone could attempt to get anywhere near close to the versions above, it would single handedly transform this track from a poorly produced pop rock song into an absolute anthem. Maybe we could get the guys to give it a listen, too. To make this track, we'll need to do the following: - extend the Color Spectrum intro - have Will's drums come in straight away instead of a fade in - put Jonny's guitar MUCH higher in the mix - put Guy's bass higher in the mix - remove the handclaps - put the 'bubble-like' sound effects lower in the mix - remove the echo on Chris' vocals - have the climax of the song be like the live version (drums, bass and guitar all higher in the mix) - add the Color Spectrum/'sparkles' outro instead of it just ending - remove the slides from Jonny's guitar intro - create a version WITH the Chaplin intro and WITHOUT the Chaplin intro (so we can have an album version & a tour version) Perhaps, if this is a success, we can try and do it with some of the other tracks on the album too, and, as a forum recreate AHFOD as a much rawer sounding album.

LP8 Thread - Everyday Life
i reckon i'll post a review at some point in the near future, but as a whole, LP8 was a bit of an odd one. FAVS: Arabesque, Church, Trouble In Town, Daddy, title track, Sunrise, Bani Adam, Orphans (without the woo-woos) LEAST: WOTW/POTP, BrokEn (not really my cup of tea, but it's cool that they did something like this), Éko to me, this album's biggest problem is that half of the tracks feel too short, and some of the production is a bit wank (though, to be fair to them, it's a miles times better than AHFOD)

LP8 Thread - Everyday Life
classic @cp3176 making his giant-ass post of quotes and i dig everyday life, too. a very melancholy end to this album, and yes, if that's indeed the second single, then hopefully a lot of this album will be experimental as fuck. i feel as if we've heard a range of things so far...afrobeat/world/jazz ('Arabesque'), indie pop ('Orphans'), Viva-era Oldplay ('Everyday Life'), gospel? ('BrokEn') and really old-school Elvis-esque ballad? ('Cry Cry Cry'). i can't be the only one hoping for a crunchy, punchy punk track on 'Trouble In Town'.

wow, so you heard Orphans as the Stone Roses-inspired track? huh. suppose it's that funky groove going on in that bassline that makes me think of something like Fools Gold...but the more and more I listen I'm getting reggae feels too...

W O W WHAT A FUCKING COINCEDENCE, they play the 75 before! another band whose release I'm excited for. 'People' is a banger and the title track should be heard by everyone. this is giving me so many I like it when you sleep... vibes and being a Brit, I could easily play this full volume in a car cruising down the M6 at night
