10 [random] songs on your iTunes - The Randomizer!
Here we go again... 1) 12- The 1975 (beautiful, spacious interlude which I've sometimes used to end certain playlists) 2) Charlie- RHCP (funky n shit, but this has always been a track that's never really clicked with me. sorry, Flea ;)) 3) Momentz- Gorillaz feat. De La Soul (great party track, like one of the MILLION tracks DLS appear on with Gorillaz lol) 4) We Don't Deserve Love- Arcade Fire (nice slow jam, and shits over nearly EVERYTHING else on that album) 5) Murder City- Green Day (not heard it much, so idk. hearing it now, it's pretty good but Green Day have done WAY better than this.) 6) Your Loves Whore- Wolf Alice (not heard this much either, but it's EXTREMELY good, 90's, all the good shit. main riff reminds me of Cherub Rock. fuck yeah Wolf Alice) 7) Fairly Local- TØP (UGH, i fucking HATE this TØP track. it's just not them, sorry) 8) Feel It Still (Gryffin Remix)- P.T.M (was mindblown and overwhelmed the original got as much mainstream play as it did. i originally discovered the song and put it on my own 'chart', never knowing it'd get all the attention it did. awesome. this remix is cool too) 9) Well I Wonder- The Smiths (classic. fun fact: i was listening to this song in Liverpool one night around the time i was ONLY on S2 of TWD. lol) 10) Euphoria- FMLYBND (one of the many songs that remind me of my trips to London. awesome song :))

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Wow. Wow. Holy fucking WOW. This era has been quite a ride. Sure, Coldplay may have released one of the worst albums of their whole career with AHFOD, but DAMN has this tour and aesthetic of this era mesmerised and fascinated me. Honestly, when LP7's buildup began (remember we were looking for clues about the record and all that excitement us thinking it would be a psychedelic record lol) I was hoping that this era would be magical. And indeed it was. The album may have been overproduced to shit and had some awful tracks (looking at you, XMTS, Army Of One, Amazing Day, HFTW) but it was full of some bloody good ones too (AOAL, Up&Up, Birds and of course, the title track) and it was also the album era where I saw the band live for the very first time and was there from start to finish. And yes, the Kaleidoscope EP blew my mind, so that too :) (To be 100% honest, Hypnotised completely restored my faith in the band making great music again, so that EP was what saved this era, for me anyways. It continued the magic which was nearly lost in late 2016.) I have absolutely loved coming on here to chat and stuff, and I tell you this: I ain't gonna stop here (LP8 hype train is pulling in at November station!) So to Chris, Jonny, Guy, Will, everyone on this forum and the crew... Thank you for making this era a memorable one, and I love y'all for being there with me. Now to see what the future will bring! Oh and of course: BELIEVE IN LOVE :) :p

HOLY SHIT WHAT IS THIS? Snow Patrol/Blink 182/Bring Me The Horizon soft rock/pop punk/metal? It's odd and kind of phony in places, but it's still kinda cool! 6.8/10 (why the hell has this not been a hit yet?)

=== The Ultimate Newplaying Thread===MX, GS, AHFOD===
I honestly think we've gotten to a point now where it's The Saviors vs Alexandria/Hilltop/The Kingdom (any of ye TWD fans out there will know what I mean) here on Coldplaying. I mean, people who have only just discovered the band thanks to AHFOD (or had after it came out) would go back and look at their old stuff (which is great), but considering the first exposure to them was that album, THAT is how they will remember Coldplay's sound as. Catchy and somewhat funky in places, but also very bland, basic, safe. Safer than MX. Safer than GS. Just plain safe. But during Kaleidoscope, the band themselves shuffled out of that safety zone a bit to create AICTAIY, A L I E N S and Hypnotised. Hell, small fractions (like the guitar solo on Up&Up) were fantastic on AHFOD, if it wasn't for the ANNOYING AS FUCK overproduction coming in to dim the spotlight on it. But that's the band. Us, as a fanbase on the other hand? Plenty of us are still in that 'safety zone' and as I said, will remember Coldplay as a pop band, or a rock band with a pop sound. That's not OUR Coldplay. The reason why I'm using TWD as a comparison? Well, it's kind of obvious. At the time of the AHFOD release, LOADS of people began to leave these forums. They HATED the way the band sounded. But when some people jumped ship, many came aboard. But these 'many' were somewhat MESMERISED by the album. They praised nearly all the songs and jumped all over Chris, basically. Nothing wrong with that, but that seems to have been the trend ever since. Hell, Oldplayers and Newplayers had a forum war for a while. Now, I'm not saying one group of people are better than the other. I enjoy being in both of those groups. As far as everything goes, it's not how new or how old things are that matter. The thing that REALLY matters is if the music is good. And I like a handful of Newplay songs, and lots of Oldplay songs. But really, they're all Coldplay songs. All of them. Ever since AHFOD, we've been split into two sides. Before, it was pretty much all civil. Now, it's much different. And let's face it, some of us have gotten way too angry or annoyingly overpraising at times, either ripping the band apart for not being who they used to be or drooling all over anything they put out. I mean, just look at the song for Mexico. You either hated it, or you loved it. There was only a ridiculously small fraction who were indifferent to either side. Yes, I may have been slightly towards not really liking it, but I gave it a CHANCE. Some people just don't give things a chance anymore. But it can also be the other way round, as in, some people don't give songs a CHANCE to resonate with them and just eat them up anyways for no other reason than OMG THATS AMAZING CHRIS! I just hope eventually, Coldplay drops a song like A L I E N S again , but not on an EP. On an album, as a single. That way, any angry fans would rejoice and any overpraising fans would have a reason to do praise the song. But for now, I guess, it's Oldplayers, Newplayers, and yes, a small fraction of us called Coldplayers.

These tracks are the main tracks that I've been listening to March-October. Disclaimer: EXTREMELY long post incoming (i might have to spilt it into two parts). As you will know, I call the months 'eras', and name them after the topic I was most interested in that month. The reason April is called 'Untitled' is because I couldn't really think of a certain theme in particular that month, as it was pretty much a sandbox of themes. Oh, and yeah, the songs in bold are the songs that best repsented the month it was in. I've picked one main song for each month (except May and June where there is multiple tracks). anyways... Coldplay to debut new song for Estamos Unidos Mexicanos concert
sort of long post incoming... Well, as I've found out with NG's track Holy Mountain, songs take a while to grow on you. And this song (although it is for charity, yes) is one of those tracks which took FOREVER for me to like. Certainly the most cliché Coldplay song. I mean, if someone asked me to define what 'generic new era Coldplay' would be, I'd give them this song as the main definition. It's got a catchy guitar hook and melody (but lets face it, it's EERILY similar to Ed Sheeran's Castle On The Hill). It's got some decent lyrics here and there (but HOLY FUCK is it predictable right from the getgo). And that title, JESUS. (Oh) Beautiful World would have been better than Life Is Beautiful, because that title stinks of CLICHÉ. But as it stands, it's a charity single, so obviously I'll give it a pass. Besides, the band seem to be straying away from R&B beats and shit (although that sort of music can work quite well merged with rock when done right e.g. Beck, Radiohead, Posty, Frank Ocean) so that's good, as it never suited them AT ALL. And there is a really positive message behind it, so that is also good. But the band has recorded much more INCREDIBLE charity songs in the past (like How You See The World, for example) so I'm just saying they maybe could have tried harder with this one. Let's get on the runway to leave the AHFOD era behind, guys.
