  1. It's Prospekt's stepson! Man your battlestations!
  2. I'm making fun of other people's religious beliefs. You better keep your head down, Indya, cause I'm about to switch gears into misogyny and racism! :D
  3. I have a difficult time believing there isn't an impact on the environment from burning as much fossil fuel as we do. And we know burning fossil fuels generally makes for dirtier air (regardless of CO2). So it's a noble goal to want to reduce the emissions. I just don't believe it's a life-or-death problem like so many people want us to believe. This isn't healthy, especially for young children to hear, as they aren't meant to feel guilt and stress over something that is so out of their control. But this is generally the way governments express their control over citizens: 1. Invent a problem. 2. Make the problem seem pressing, vitally important, affecting everyone. Something only elected officials with the power of the law can solve. 3. Campaign on solving the problem. Obtain power. 4. Implement new taxes, or threaten to, making businesses ingratiate themselves to your political party in order to avoid further punishment. Turn people against their employers. McBama: "Government is your guardian. There are terrorists around every corner. The wealthy capitalists are holding you back, taking more than they deserve. Life is so unfair, let me help you."
  4. This post isn't a bash on Catholicism, but I've not encountered another religion that has spawned more Atheists. It's very strange. Every avowed atheist I've ever met has been a former Catholic. The problem with Lennon's "Imagine" is that is advocates nihilism. Atheism is a form of nihilism, because they both view life as meaningless, and therefore expendable (usually for a "greater good", which is often societal equality). Forget having an atheist explain where morality or the strive for equality originates - perhaps it represents a more symmetrical/aesthetic universe. A desire for beauty, so to speak.
  5. How do you know there was nothing before you were born? Maybe you just forgot it. After all, you forgot most of your memories from when you were a baby. ;)
  6. I think the key (for me, at least) to knowing God is to view all human activity with suspicion. I'm not a misanthrope (in fact I foolishly believe people are fundamentally good), I just don't want to trust anyone except myself when it comes to something as fundamental as religion. I simply can't believe that over a period of a couple thousand years, the Bible hasn't in some way been corrupted (even assuming there is truth in there somewhere). The same goes for any other religious text, custom, tradition, myth, etc. I prefer to look at the natural world for clues about God. I suspect that if heaven does exist (and I'm sure some form of it does), then it's far more fantastic and far weirder than we could ever imagine.
  7. Girls who don't have pierced ears = nonconformist, but in a very "state of nature" kinda way... hot. :P A pet peeve of mine is when we're out of milk/bread/pepsi. Like now.
  8. That's Scott McGregor, same guy I posted on the last page. He's an underwear model from Australia. Here's a thread with a million more images of him: http://www.fmforums.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=57349 No wonder he's so good looking. He gets money every time he lifts weights!
  9. It's the boob police. Kinda like the fashion police, but they go after annoying lead-singers.
  10. Holy crap, he looks like my twin.
  11. LOL this is awesome. Here's a great skit about dreams, sorta: http://www.theonion.com/content/video/chef_cooks_dream_omelet_from Speaking of which, has anyone seen "The Science of Sleep"? What a wonderful movie. :P
  12. http://cleantechnica.com/2008/07/25/new-technology-can-turn-heat-waste-into-electricity/ Making inefficient internal combustion engines 60% more efficient.
  13. I thought th... OH CRAP THIS IS COLDPLAYING.COM. How embarrassing. I'm not gay, I swear! I thought the blue thing under his name meant he was a girl. :P
  14. Every time I see Zac Efron I want to barf. No offense to the ladies here who think he's cute. It's so apparent he's gay, too. I feel sorry for his girlfriend, lol.
  15. Can I get your number? :D
  16. Here's a cute model, Scott McGregor: If you want to see loads of pics of him shirtless and in his undies, here's a link: http://www.fmforums.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=57349
  17. I agree, I think it's obnoxious and stupid, and I'd feel very uncomfortable at one of those gay marches. If there are ever gay marches, the participants should dress and behave normally to prove they're no different from the rest of society. That's the only way to gain acceptance.
  18. Just finished it. The tests they did on him were interesting, but to a large extent they didn't correlate with my own experience - 1. I never played with dolls as a kid. 2. My ring finger IS about the same length as my index finger, so this one works for me. 3. I have no older brothers (as I'm the first child), and my younger brother is straight. I'm thinking it's not genetic, just something about how the brain develops in the womb. This could possibly be influenced by any number of factors, even what mom eats while she's pregnant. On a side note, I thought it was funny how he used a Scottish accent when talking to his parents. :P
  19. Hey thanks, Fixed. Here's a link to a torrent of that episode, for those who live outside of the UK and want to see it (the BBC player doesn't work for me). http://www.mininova.org/tor/1634729
  20. Saffire replied to freckles's topic in The Lounge
Girls are a little less discriminating than men when it comes to looks, just so you take care of yourself and dress well. Also helps to have an interesting occupation.

  22. God yes, CHEESE. And lobster... and boiled artichoke leaves dipped in butter... and stone-ground grits.
  23. Thanks for your support, but I don't think anyone "wants" to be gay or straight, it just kinda happens. :P
  24. I drive on the right. I think if I ever moved to another country I'd have night terrors of head-on collisions. :P
