    Heh, shut yer mouf! :shifty:
  2. Everybody's got their favorite paintings, so I decided I'd make a thread for people to post 'em. It's always good to be exposed to new artists and ideas, not just in the realm of music but the visual arts, also. Caravaggio's painting of St. Matthew being approached by an Angel is beautiful to me for its simplicity and elegance. The Angel looks weightless and the way the light flows like liquid over their skin and cloth really makes it come to life. Plus the vertical orientation of the painting emphasizes its spiritual content: Matisse did a few pieces like this, showing a person silhouetted against a night sky as if they were flying in a dream. Again, I love how mesmerizing and simple the image is, yet it conveys powerful emotion: Finally, Edward Hopper's "Nighthawks". His paintings tend to be lonely, with few people in them. I love the 1950's style and calmness: So go ahead and post your own!
  3. This is what happens to Geology students when they get too deep into it.

Three part songs have been around since before Homer's time, let's try not to give Radiohead more credit than they deserve. This reminds me of how they teach school children that everything - from fireworks to paper to seismographs - was invented first in China. Ironic that China hasn't had an original thought in the last couple thousand years. Radiohead = China. *straps meat to legs, releases dogs*

    Are you referring to pootang?
  7. A little disappointing. Don't ask me how I know.
  8. Having $80 million in the bank helps a bit, too. :P
  9. My bike was stolen a few months ago but it was recovered about a week later. People steal bikes at my university all the time. My roommate's was stolen just last week. We're thinking of setting up a situation where one of us leaves our bike obviously unattended, and hides in the bushes to see who comes and takes it. Then when they ride off, we'll check the digital camera to see the pictures we took of their face - only to discover the memory card was already full of cat pictures. That's the plan.
  10. Don't worry guys, it's possible Chris will sing the lyrics at the Live performances. Or it could be released as a B-side.

    Stevie Muirfield. That's awesome.
  12. I'm a big fan of microfinance because it helps states develop their own little economy from the ground-up rather than becoming reliant on continual donations. http://www.kiva.org/app.php Kiva is a site that lets you loan money to people who want to start their own small businesses in developing countries. It's a great way to see capitalism at work on the ground and it incentivises people to take risks, which is a cultural trait that is absolutely necessary if there's going to be economic progress.
  13. In that case, check out this website: http://www.charitynavigator.org/ They rank charities based on what percentage of money donated goes to overhead, and what actually makes it to the people. Look for a charity that's got low overhead and does work in other countries, and see if you can get the contact information from there.
  14. Not sure how old your sis is, but she should check in on him to see how he's doing (assuming you can find him again). If she doesn't want to ask him directly just go through one of his friends and have them tell him to reconsider her. Girls make everything too complex!
  15. Heh are you trying to pad your resume or something? Higher education is so overrated. :P
  16. I can only imagine the kind of hard drugs Guy would have to take after stumbling upon this page... :D
  17. LOL Lore, I know exactly what you mean! ;)

Facebook is the Evil described in the Christian Bible, written as computer code.
  19. You're prolly right on that. Personally I hate alcohol, and I've never been drunk. I'll be JPB binge drinks (to go along with the stereotype)!
  20. I love Doves, and those guys are about as ugly as they come. I think the fact Coldplay are attractive makes them more marketable, that's all.

Heh, intriguing! I think women are a lot less likely to admit certain stuff, too, because they want to appear proper. I just never got the whole Chris/Jonny thing...
  22. Reminds me a lot of this great vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Nx1ocgnd4A
  23. Veterinarian?? Heh.
  24. Not to change the subject but it's always baffled me how my girl-friends will swear up and down they aren't attracted to the idea of two guys making love, yet on here I see evidence that women like thinking about that kind of thing. Guys are turned on by women kissing each other, so the corollary makes sense... I would publish a sociological paper on this but I've got an Italian exam in a few hours. PS: Awesome avatar.
  25. lol hey girl, I got a lot to do between now and Wednesday! I'll do one Wednesday evening. I'm already jotting down ideas... In the meantime, members of the Perv Unit are welcome to turn their attention from Coldplay to me. :P
