  1. Looking forward to this, grats to my NZ friends!
  2. A statist telling an anarchist he claims to have the "answer to all of the world's problems". Are you kidding me? I am aware of human nature, moreso than you are. I read huge books on it for fun. And you're absolutely right, there are no simple solutions to complex social problems. But what does the government do? They say "Yes, we have the solution! Collect taxes and then use the Police to enforce rules!" And that's the same fucking solution they come up with for every goddamned problem that comes down the pike. Point a gun, steal, and then FORCE people to do things. Correct, and in the market place, cheaper is often better. Downloading music is not theft. Taxation is. Fair enough, and Presidents in the USA are appointed by an Electoral College. So neither are direct elections. What do you think Hitler's approval rating would have been in Germany once he got rid of democracy? I'd bet it was pretty high, even while he was smashing the Jews. America had a dictator as well, few remember him that way however - Abraham Lincoln. He killed 600,000 Americans in an unnecessary war of aggression on the seceding states. Now they teach little kids that it was all about freeing the slaves, you know. The same slaves Lincoln had men hunt down in his home state, and returned to their masters. Then he locked up tens of thousands of Americans for speaking out against the war - mostly Northern newspaper editors and individuals who simply had a difference of opinion. No charges necessary. A corporation is a creation of the government. It's a legal structure. I'm talking about businesses, not institutionalized money-machines that can't compete without patents and other protections offered by the government. How many people have died as a result of anarchy? All the millions of deaths you're talking about occurred because of governments.
  3. Another example of the wonders of socialized medicine.
  4. Heh, poor guy. But this is what insurance is for! :P
  5. This is what a BMI of 34 looks like:
  6. Fascinating. So you've got this whole cash-cow industry for researchers and scientists who love to take trips to the arctic or get grants to study how earthworms' behavior is affected by "climate change"... utterly useless information, and a complete waste of resources. But it's free money, so BS it. And the UK even has a "Climate Change Secretary"? Heh. And his job is to convince people that it's real. Then you've got the poor, pitiful British public. These people who are barely hanging onto their last thread of decency and independent-thought, but have had 99% of it beaten out of them by the ubiquitous nanny state. There's a smoldering crater in their brains where they've been mindraped into believing that people who drive "gas guzzlers" should be a particularly juicy target for the parasitical government. What a loser society.
  7. Sleep is very underrated. Our culture condemns people who sleep any longer than 7 hours at night, or who take naps. It's weird. And teenagers especially need more sleep than adults.

  9. I think they created their own punishment - they embarrassed themselves. I just want the parents to find work and raise their kids right. We don't need to go around fining people who are already broke, and breaking up families.
  10. Wasted food is definitely a problem. I think there should be a charity that collects wasted food and offers it to the homeless. Of course they'd probably be breaking a regulation or something, but I'm sure the homeless wouldn't mind.
  11. Probably just as high as if the emergency services hadn't been mobilized. These guys are paid a salary regardless of whether they're chasing a balloon or not!
  12. Hundreds of journalists were in town, renting rooms at motels and eating at local diners. ;)
  13. The family also created a huge media circus that sold a lot of ads for TV news channels. You can look at this any number of ways.
  14. How do you get money out of a family that has no money? How are these people supposed to get jobs in this economy with felony convictions? What about their children? You people are showing more sympathy for the Government than this family. Disgusting.
  15. Yossarian and Tnspieler1012. AT THE SAME TIME.
  16. 23k pounds per year?? I'm moving to the UK. Ohhh my legs!
  17. Anybody who's ever been to America knows the police do a fantastic job of wasting their own time. I have no sympathy for the government in this case. And why the hell was she going to be deported anyway? She's married to an American and has three sons! This is ridiculous.
  18. Go to bed Josh. Your mother and I were just... wrestling. Now close the door and go back to bed.
  19. Beautiful. I wonder how many undiscovered civilizations are inside the frame of that picture? And do they sacrifice their own children, or are they all about partying and having a good time?
  20. The whole "interstate competition is illegal" thing really ticks me off, because no other financial instrument is so heavily regulated as insurance. If I want to invest my money with a fund manager who's based out of New York, I can do that no problem. But why can't I buy insurance there? Today, financial products are all basically the same. Finance is one of those rare fields where it doesn't matter if you're based in New York or a remote island in the Pacific - as long as you can do math and have an internet connection, you're good to go.
  21. True, Britain has a lot of ugly people. But it also has a lot of beautiful people. There's not a whole lot of "average" in Britain like there is in America, LOL. Plus you have to keep in mind the population differences. Clearly because America has over 300 million people, there are bound to be a greater # of people with model-looks. But you know, as long as you keep fit you've got an advantage over someone who is beautiful & fat.
  22. Insurance companies just provide financial instruments, they don't actually have anything to do with health care directly. This is like forcing everyone to buy CDO's and mortgage backed securities to get everyone a free house. It's a proxy for real investment. If I were a statist, I think a more serious approach would be to increase the number of medical schools and enroll more students. Decrease the number of years students have to study to be doctors. Build more hospitals and clinics. Reduce the length of patents on new medicines... The insurance thing will take care of itself if you increase root supply.
  23. Oh you naughty... Wait, you were talking about Bill Clinton. Nevermind. Anyway Aaron, you're still my favorite Democrat, so I'll withhold my anarchist wrath from you!! ;)
  24. Yeah yeah whatever. Hey Ceckers, you're invited to my Christmas party!
  25. A Muslim Al Qaeda sympathizer shoots and kills over a dozen troops on American soil? You couldn't make this stuff up! It's perfect. It emphasizes to Americans that Al Qaeda is still dangerous, and we've got to "bring the fight to them". All the stuff Bush said, but Obama is afraid to say (for fear of appearing undeserving of his Nobel Peace award). And they basically admitted to letting it happen. It's blatantly obvious.
