Half of British adults are scared of children who 'behave like feral animals'
But how do you explain it? Would you say that a white president has an equally bad influence on criminal white youth?:dozey:

You don't intend to be racist you just ARE.:( What on earth do you base this assumption on?

snow!!!
I remember our Mexican exchange student getting all excited when it snowed. Must be special if you see it for the first time but it's generally not very nice in cities. I also hate the feeling when your hands proper hurt because it's THAT cold.

snow!!!
That's the only places where snow is nice. I hate snow in villages and cities, it usually turns all muddy and icy after a few days. I'm glad it hardly ever snows where I live.

What do you think should be done about it then?

Doesn't explain why you need to label all kids that dress in a certain way as chavs/ scallies, look down on them and blame them for the majority of social problems. Young people, who behave antisocial aren't unique to Britain yet scallies apparently are.

I pretty much agree with you. There are some incidents obviously but the media focuses way too much on this topic. It's not like you shouldn't try to make sure that young people behave differently but criminalising like half of them is a completely wrong approach. A lot of people look down on kids [ who are mostly from a working class background] simply because of the way they dress and they just assume that they are gonna behave antisocial. I don't live in London but I work with kids from one of the most deprived areas in England and I completely disagree with the way the media represents young people.

Is "British" a racist term??
I disagree. What's wrong with mentioning someone's skin colour as long as you don't attach value to it? It obviously shouldn't be used to put people in groups but it doesn't make sense not to mention someone's skin colour when describing their looks. Even some British people associate the term "British" with being white. Like I went to citizen advice with my housemate the other day and they asked him what his nationality was (even though he speaks with a local accent) whereas they just assumed I was British, which I'm not. Btw British and English is not the same

Is "British" a racist term??
Difficult topic. Black people still suffer from disadvantages when it comes to education or employment. You can't easily eliminate labels of colours because they're very still very much in people's minds. I think there is nothing wrong with the things that guy mentioned and I don't think they are racist either. I generally find it a positive thing to create awareness of black history. I don't see why there shouldn't be specific shops, simply because a lot of African food or literature can't be found nowhere else... same with music. Black consciousness isn't a bad thing s long as it's about knowing one's history and celebrating roots. Some people obviously take it too far and see their race as superior or support racial segregation. It too annoys me how some people seriously assume that only white people can be racist, which doesn't make sense.

Anyone here need a new flatmate? (In London)
We are in a similar position. Someone dropped out and we even found someone but the landlord wants a student and preferably a girl. Sorry can't help you with this because I'm not in London. Only advice I can give you never ever sign a joint tenancy agreement.

Help me rent my apartment!
We had the same problem when one of my housemates dropped out of uni. I'd say think about how/ where to advertise it. If it's close to university/ college, try advertising it on their noticeboard. Also take pictures, which make it look very nice.

Carnage UK: The company cynically turning student binge drinking into big business
Fair enough. I'm not that bothered as long as it's not my friends, who behave like that. I usually have better nights out in Britain anyway.

Carnage UK: The company cynically turning student binge drinking into big business
Depends what you mean. There wasn't anything like Carnage or fancy dress parties and you wouldn't see as many people in town. But that's because town's usually dead (especially during the week). They're more likely to get drunk at a friend's house/ outside.

Tottenham Hotspur
Shame Spurs beat Liverpool again in less than a month. I'm slightly annoyed Liverpool didn't take the competition more seriously. It might only be the Carling Cup still it might affect their first team. Liverpool's performance was just poor, especially first half was terrible. Anyway credit to Tottenham, they were the better team and deserved the win.

That's weird because I wouldn't say Switzerland is much better when it comes to drinking. Young people get drunk all the time, even where I lived and that was in the middle of nowhere.

Is "British" a racist term??
I don't get this. It's wrong to class people according to their skin colour. The idea that it isn't politically-correct to mention someone's skin colour when describing their looks doesn't make sense either though. And the where they come from bit is quite tricky because there are a lot of black or Asian people, who are English, French, American,... It can be quite offensive to ask them "where they are really from" when they've lived in this country all their lives and so have their parents.

You just need to learn to ignore them because they're everywhere.

Carnage UK: The company cynically turning student binge drinking into big business
A lot of bars seem to do that. I once went out not realising that Carnage was in town and we really struggled to get in anywhere.

Who cares? Students get wasted with or without carnage. I do find it quite annoying that some bars wouldn't let you in if you don't wear a carnage shirt though.
