  1. "Since day one"? :)
  2. I think it's: "It's far, it's poetry Sit down and sing to me a song 'Cause all I want in this world..."
  3. If you want to figure out what lyric comes after 'and hit the ground', please download this: http://coldplayviolethill.googlepages.com/VioletHilllyricsexcerpt.mp3 I've tried to extract the vocals as far as possible, timestreched the sample, etc. It's all in the file. I'm still not sure about the whole lyric, but I think I hear 'My nerves are X', not 'My love's X'

  5. I think that doesnt have to be true... Coldplay make the songs, Ken Nelson would only produce them. Coldplay could choose to go in a different direction, but still have Ken Nelson as a producer. It seems kind of fair though for a band to choose for a different producer, indeed for the 'we want something different' reason. But to be honest, I wouldnt trust Chris Martin anymore if he would say Coldplay was gonna make the best record ever. X&Y clearly wasnt. Its just not as diverse nor as uplifting as AROBTTH. I cant get through the album, because it keeps going slow and then speeding up to fall back again. And the climaxes are all alike. Its not that I cant enjoy the songs, but after a while they either wear out or become an annoying rollercoaster ride which Ive been on alot of times before. The instrumental promo's prove that it has to do with production, because I enjoy them a little more than the real songs, although of course I miss Chris Martins voice. But even apart from that, X&Y is a missed chance. Its as if they over-tried on each song they made and put what they thought were the best individual songs on one record, and Danton super-polished every part of it and made it sound bland and 'perfect'. Coldplay is a hugely talented band still, but listening to X&Y makes me think that being one of the biggest bands in the world got to their heads. I personally think they should go to the core of what makes their songs beautiful (the melodies, choruses, uplifting sound which includes all the instruments), and from there experiment with different styles. Id love Coldplay to use different instruments for example. Like trumpets or a saxaphone, other percussion instruments, whatever... That would be innovative, right? I have to be honest, Im a AROBTTH fan, and I wouldnt object to AROBTTH 2. Well actually, I hoped they would build from there, not copy it. But I did hope for a similar sound. The funny thing is, X&Y does have alot of similarities with AROBTTH. (Just not the right ones :D) Coldplay admit this saying (well Guy said it) they think of their three albums as a trilogy and wanna go to something completely new. Im really curious of what theyre gonna do next... But secretly I hope theyll listen to Turin Brakes, Elbow, Doves, Embrace, and The Electric Soft Parade alot :P
  6. Youre probably right, but if I look at my points of critique as Ive written down before: ''Alot of songs, like Talk, The Hardest Part, White Shadows and Low, have boring, almost beatbox-like beats. [...] Square One, Fix You, Talk, Low, and The Hardest Part have the exact same bland use of the electric guitar.'' The songs produced by Ken Nelson arent left out.... :)
  7. Which 3 songs did Ken Nelson produce on X&Y?
  8. Life is for Living A Rush Of Blood To The Head / Amsterdam Swallowed In The Sea
  9. (WARNING - this post features criticism about X&Y) http://rapidshare.de/files/6372112/X_Y_-_AROBTTH_comparison.mp3.html Ive made a music file that compares the songs on X&Y with those on A Rush Of Blood To The Head. The first part features the songs 'White Shadows', 'Talk', 'Low', and the B-Sides of Speed Of Sound and Fix You, 'Things I dont Understand' and 'The World's Turned Upside Down'. These tracks summarize the X&Y sound (apart from the ballad songs). After the snippets of these songs, parts of 'In My Place', 'Daylight', 'Politik', and 'A Rush Of Blood To The Head' summarize the Rush Of Blood sound. So its devided in 2 parts. First you hear Chris Martin sing ''X and Y'' and then youll hear parts of X&Y songs, then youll hear Chris Martin sing ''Rush Of Blood To The Head'' and then youll hear parts of AROBTTH songs. When comparing the two album sounds, pay attention to how much variation in drum patterns and melodies there is between the songs, how natural the drums sound (as in not alike a beat computer, each individual snare sounding exactly the same), how the guitars sound and what role they have in the songs, how crisp the songs sound (in contrast to bland / overproduced), and how much you feel lifted up by the songs and inclined to sing together with Chris :P Unless youre deaf or in denial, youll hear the difference between the sound of the 2 albums. There's alot more variation in the drum patterns between the songs on AROBTTH than on the ones on X&Y, and the drums have a more prominent role on these than on X&Y's songs. On the B-Sides especially, it sounds like a beat computer is used. For X&Y Coldplay seem to have swapped their typical warm guitar for a U2-like one that sorta cries over many of the songs. IMO (and these things are said a million times by others before, I know) the X&Y tracks have a more bland and more overproduced sound. In terms of good and bad, I dont find X&Y a bad record. It does have some good songs, which I can enjoy! But after listening it for quite a few times, Ive come to the conclusion it just doesnt have the authenticy, quality, and addictiveness AROBTTH does have. Im interested if any of you will acknowledge my point or agree, if you think its nonsense, or that you see this as an improvement. Or anything else :)
  10. If Coldplay would perform it, it would actually not be that bad  can you imagine? :D it would be fun to see them ridicule themselves :P
  11. I hope it will be sound and obscurely beautiful, like in the old days.... :nice:
  12. Elbow - Leaders of the Free World Lately Ive started to become addicted to 'Cast of Thousands'... New album 'Leaders of the Free World' is coming out next month. Im searching for the new video online (for free). Does anyone know where I can find it?
