Mylo was a conglomeration of ideas from both an acoustic album and a pop rock album. Some of their best of both of those genres come out in that album. There's no reason they can't follow a similar approach. How about some psychedelic shoegaze dream pop rock with some stripped acoustic tracks. Call the album Starfish.

Any idea where these might come from? It would be hard to just make that up. Whether it's true or not, it must have come from somewhere.

You guys are saying Chris Martin doesn't edit his Wiki pages late at night?

Coldplay- The Boring Album Coming 2018 There are 3 possibilities. 1- Someone is trolling the rest of us Coldplay fans 2- Someone edited it, accidentally putting the forthcoming live album under their discography. 3- HOLY SH*T WE'RE GETTING AN ALBUM THIS YEAR. My guess is #2.

Not to get anyone's hopes up, like I did. This is Wikipedia, so take it with a VERY small grain of salt. But if you look at their discography section, this is what it reads. Discography[edit] Main articles: Coldplay discography and List of songs recorded by Coldplay Parachutes (2000) A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002) X&Y (2005) Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008) Mylo Xyloto (2011) Ghost Stories (2014) A Head Full of Dreams (2015) TBA (2018) ...o_O I'm sure it's nothing and will be fixed soon. Buuuuuuuuut, Chris said they will only be full of surprises AND, they have never gone more than 3 calendar years without releasing a full length studio album.

As an aside from people mentioning them doing a folk/Americana album- If you love Coldplay and love these newer folky bands like people have mentioned, you should totally check out this little known band called Parsonsfield. They are definitely a mix between the 2, and I'm sure you will love their music. Some very deep and emotional stuff along with upbeat Americana/folk rock. Definitely check out their last album-Blooming Through The Black. They had a song featured on The Walking Dead, although I don't think it's their best, but it's still very good.

^Going off of the fact that Coldplay kind of base their albums off of what's popular at the time, I could totally see them doing either a)Psychedelic Tame Impala/MGMT. It's very emotional music that incorporates new-age sounds that would totally suit Coldplay. b) Americana/folk- Mumford & Sons, Lumineers, The National, Wilco, John Mayer are all people who have been really hot of late (last five years or so) with this type of music. Coldplay could totally pull it off, and it would probably sounding a bit like deep tracks from AROBTTH+Til Kingdom Come. I can't really see what other direction Coldplay taking into account the 7 albums they already made, and these two ideas. I don't see Coldplay going Kid A on us and laying their soul on the line to make something risky, but Chris said they were only going to full of surprises from here on out, so who knows? Although Chris' idea of a surprise is probably a kitten jumping out of a bush.

I respect Coldplay fans who admit they despise a handful of Coldplay songs. But you cannot tell me Daylight or Politik or Amsterdam is "rubbish that drags on".

I respect reggae music, but dear god I hope not. That is one genre Coldplay should absolutely not go near. Lol. The only reggae thing they will ever do is Rastarian Targaryen. However, if they are thinking psychedelic/shoegaze, then now we are talking. Give me some whacked out, experimental Coldplay shit.

I love Radiohead, and in terms of talent and creativity, they are far superior to Coldplay. But Coldplay's music is much more relatable and listenable, IMO. I'll show a friend a Radiohead song and their reaction is, "This is f*cking weird". I'll play them a Coldplay deep track and they will say "This is pretty good, who is this?" Side note- And I don't really understand the narrative that Coldplay is a "U2 ripoff" or "Radiohead ripoff". Coldplay's early early stuff, like pre-Parachutes was certainly very clearly a Radiohead-based sound. But since then, I haven't heard much that is really a ripoff of Radiohead. And same with U2, there are a few songs that use their guitar sound (Most explicitly the AHFOD title track and ETIAW), but they are by no means ripping off anyone. X&Y is very unique sounding. VLV, AROBTTH and MX are their creative masterpieces. They've grown up a lot since writing a couple Radiohead knockoffs in 1998.

It really depends on who they would collab with. I like if they collab with someone good. Noel Gallagher on Up&Up is great. Tove Lo is a good voice to pair with Chris, but the song was mediocre. Same with Rihanna, but the song was meh. I'm not a fan of pop collaborations (The Chainsmokers-yuck). But if Johnny Cash was around for Til Kingdom Come, that would've been awesome. Top choices for collabs with Coldplay off the top of my head- John Mayer Eddie Vedder Kanye Frank Ocean Ryan Tedder Alessia Cara Tame Impala Paul McCartney

Random Coldplay thoughts...
For those of who that play Rock Band, it appears ASFOS was just added to the downloadable content!

Kaleidoscope EP
I'm almost glad SJLT didn't win a Grammy- is that messed up?
-
Congrats for being the most positive message board I have ever seen
Would you expect anything else from a Coldplay fan forum? :p

Kaleidoscope EP
Odds on this winning a Grammy today? I would say slim to none. Although I thought there was no chance it would be nominated in the first place. Seems like the Recording Academy will dedicate this one to Ed Sheeran.

Coldplay "Viva La Vida" Era CDs, Vinyl Records, and Memorabilia Collectors' Thread
Thanks. Have you ever watched the promo DVD? I still would've loved them to release the Barcelona DVD. The sound couldn't have been that bad... Maybe in the future when the band look back at their career, there will be a compilation of concert videos throughout the years.

I appreciate it. I really wished they released a Live DVD/CD of X&Y and VLV era tours. I could never understand why they never released a Live CD/DVD of the Viva era. I get that they weren't fond of X&Y and didn't want to release Toronto 2006 to the world, blah blah blah. But these two albums were their peak. Not saying their best albums, and they are still popular, but 2005-2009 was their peak. Would love some more behind the scenes from these two eras.

Still very jealous of Rece. Major Cooper- Are there any live DVDs of concerts from the VLV era that are available somewhere/you would recommend? I see the Chinese version you posted has "DVD" on one of them- is that just music videos or is it live footage?

Here in the US, I see one every once in a while on Amazon for $80. Maybe I don't look hard enough actually, now looking at eBay.

Ghost Stories - Elimination Game
Ink I'm surprised people don't like ASFOS. I understand the Oldplaying crowd being resentful towards it (I am in Oldplaying crowd), but ASFOS is awesome live, and is far superior to their other blatant pop songs (Princess of China, HFTW, SJLT)

Til Kingdom Come Nice song. Doesn't do much for me when compared to the rest on this list.
