Los Unidades
Chris cool hook on Timbuktu through the vocoder "Well I don't know who you are or where you come from...", Stormzy's verse, and Jonny's guitar riffs throughout the E.P. are the best bits. Everything else is meh.

===The ultimate Oldplaying Thread===S, BS, TBR, P, AROBTTH, X&Y, VLV, PM===
I remember seeing your posts on here before with the "2003-2011" thing, but I couldn't remember who it was- nice to see you back! I'm curious, what are your thoughts on MX and GS? I tend to think of myself as an Oldplayer too, but I still like LP5 and 6 (not as much as 2, 3, 4). 7 not so much, lol. But really, imo, Coldplay was 2000-2014 (not a fan of Pre-Parachutes for the most part, though).

Los Unidades
Upon 3rd listen- I actually really like the song. The best part for me is that little synth progression that kind of sounds like a Nintendo riff. Again, Chris' lyrics are a bit cheesy. (I'm assuming they're his and not Pharrell's) The tune is nice, I like the incorporation of some lesser known artists and the African vibe to it.

Los Unidades
Well we've heard 25% of the E.P. already. And given the featured artists on the other 3 songs, I'd expect more of the same. Having said that, I think the song is ok, but it wasn't intended to be a Coldplay release but rather a Chris Martin collab release. I think we should judge this output separate from Coldplay. If Coldplay release music like this, then all hell breaks loose, imo.

Los Unidades
I actually quite like the song. But I'm very glad it's not under the name Coldplay.

Los Unidades
Chris said he would never go solo- so my guess is Los Unidades is some sort of compromise where the songs are fully up to Chris, but Will, Guy and Jonny have a far diminished role, but still play some part. Coldplay- still Coldplay with full band approval and participation. Los Unidades- Chris releasing his pop dreams with the attempt to not associate with the Coldplay brand.

Well did you type Los Unidades or Los Unidados? o_O

Los Unidades
Wow you guys all have done incredible detective work. I was trying to figure out why they mispelled Los Unidades- "Unsold Ideas" makes perfect sense. I think we have some unreleased songs coming! Makes sense, considering the film and the end of the seven "chapters". OR maybe this is their way of taking music in a new direction, Unsold Ideas meaning something new and experimental that people might not approve of.

A Head Full of Dreams Film - In Cinemas Nov.14
That piqued my interest as well. I'm pretty sure it said a month also? I was trying to figure out the time of year and what they would have been doing at that point. But Kaleidoscope EP was already released at that point, right? WTF were they talking about- deluxe edition?? New album????????

LP8 Thread - Everyday Life
About a month or 2 back, Guy mentioned they set out after the AHFOD tour to take 1 year off (2018, roughly) and will go back to work at some point next year.

A Head Full of Dreams Film - In Cinemas Nov.14
Well I am so glad this film came out and to have finally seen it after all this anticipation. I assumed in my small area that I would be one of the few in the theater, but I walked up and they said "try to find a seat, if you can't we will show it again later in the evening"- the place was packed! So great to see the passion for Coldplay still high. Luckily I found a seat. It was so cool to see all the background stuff and behind the scenes in the studio and whatnot, but I was still left wanting more. -To echo some people on here, my first takeaway from the film was absolutely zero mention of Clocks. That is my favorite song of all time, of any musical artist and it didn't even have a mention. Many, especially outside of our fandom, consider Clocks to be Coldplay's signature mark on musical history. -I like the heavy focus on X&Y and the bands buildup to that era and the crossroads they hit. -I was really disappointed that there was not more of VLV era included. -On that note, MX had like a 15 second mention it felt. Would have loved to see more of that and Brian Eno's impact. -I thought the band sitting down and deciding the AHFOD track listing was fascinating. Overall, it was a clearly a monumental task to put together this film and whittle down all that footage into a 2 hour story. I appreciate that Mat decided to try to focus on a theme (friendship, starting a band, etc.) rather than just document each album. However, I would much prefer to someday see a behind the scenes focus and how the songs originated and evolved for each album. Having said all that, it was truly amazing to watch this film and Mat did an excellent job. I will be watching again. And again.

I propose a separate AHFOD Film Analysis/Reaction thread for only those who have seen the film, so you can post all the spoilers you want, and to respect those of us who have not seen the film yet.

Worst Coldplay Songs Ever!
I like the way you did this. Parachutes- Spies is maybe my least favorite studio album song. AROBTTH- My favorite album, Green Eyes is pretty forgettable though. X&Y- Masterpiece. The Hardest Part and White Shadows are meh. The stripped down piano version (like on LRLRL) of THP is really good though. VLV- Love them all. Even Yes. MX- Princess of China can just disappear as far as I'm concerned. GS- Another's Arms is meh. AHFOD- I'm so sick of HFTW and AOAL, although I initially liked AOAL and the guitar riff. AHFOD and Birds are awesome. Amazing Day and Up&Up are pleasant enough. The rest is really forgettable. I couldn't get through this without saying Pour Me is absolutely horrific.

Random Coldplay thoughts...
When I watch Toronto 2006 I'm like, what do I have to do to be one of those people in the front row.
-
Random Coldplay thoughts...
Totally, VLV was by far their best era artistically. I am so jealous of everyone who was able to see a VLV or X&Y concert. I am very grateful to have seen AHFOD, and even though it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life, I get the sense it was nothing like VLV or X&Y. I would lose my s*** standing in front of the band kicking off LiT or Square One lol
-
Random Coldplay thoughts...
Although AROBTTH is my favorite album, VLV is the best era for me. They were on top of their game then, in every aspect- the music, Chris' vocals, the art and visuals, etc. It really sucks that they don't play most of those songs anymore. I'd rather have Lovers in Japan, LiT2, Violet Hill, most of the VLV hits over the newer hits in concert.

Come on guys, I'm living for a scene where Guy calls Chris a "f***ing c**t"! :joy:
