  1. It's like being handed the keys to a Ferrari that only plays James Taylor songs. That was actually pretty funny.
  2. You're absolutely correct. The beautiful minimalism of songs like Careful Where You Stand and Don't Panic are what makes this band great. I think that's why I, and I'm sure a lot of other fans, were more excited by the live, acoustic performances of their new music than the final studio album. And, yeah, Gravity should have been recorded for the album. It would have been a much better piano ballad than What If.
  3. I entirely agree. I like X&Y as well, but I'll yield that it doesn't have that intimate feel of Parachutes or AROBTTH. I agree with the criticism that it's overproduced and perfect to a fault. However, songs like Talk and Fix You will sound absolutely incredible live. I hope they release a Coldplay Live 2005 cd, and I envy anyone with a ticket to one of their shows this summer.
  4. chris was asked to compare x&y to a rush of blood to the head and parachutes and he said something to the effect of 'that's like comparing a tin of biscuits to a whale, you can do it, but it's not tangible'
  5. Absolutely correct. Speed of Sound is one of the weakest tracks on X&Y.
  6. Elijah Wood completely redeemed his masculinity as Kevin. So silent, but so, so awesome in Sin City.
  7. Would someone post it? I've never heard it. Or could someone send it to me? [email protected] Crests of Waves is another song that should have surfaced on an album.
  8. I agree, it's the spoons that did it for me - Low is awesome.
  9. the guitar solo in Money is among the greatest ever recorded
  10. new for me too, BUT i liked how his voice would go falsetto during the chorus (during the old talk)

i still hold that there was a studio version of moses. i heard it on rhapsody. colduser has a point, though, the 2003 live recording was pretty wicked.
  12. yeah it appears to be fine! the sound quality of this is incredible! way to pull through, wirez! all i can add before everyone downloads this is that they owe it to the band to purchase x&y. but otherwise, the day we've all been waiting for has arrived, and coldplay has definitely delivered. again, though, purchase the cd.
  13. I'm downloading it too. When (and if) it's completed I'll post an update on the quality. He said a couple of tracks were damaged, so that's probably what he meant by nuked.
  14. It appears he had a link up for a time. Did anyone manage to download it?
  15. I thought White Shadows and 'Till Kingdom Come were incredible. Low was good too, and unexpected. The unreleased Talk is better, though. Square One will sound better at CD quality. Overall, outstanding album.
  16. wirez, i speak for all of us when i say that you are a god
  17. how true. the old talk was soo much better, i hope they release it as an alternate version of talk if talk ever becomes a single - but i doubt it. another moment missing from the new talk, under the great north star, try to work out where you are, in the silence of the sea, i don't know where i'll be the old talk had more passion
  18. Are many Americans actually interested in football? I just think that football isn't an American sport. That doesn't mean, that your national team is that bad actually. But what you said might be a part of it too, I suppose. :/ A lot of American youth are interested in football, or soccer as we call it becuase 'American football' is a game played with your hands? Anyhow, we've had our own league now for some years, MLS, and it's growing, so football's popularity stateside is on the rise. That doesn't make it an 'American' sport, though. Football is still fourth to baseball, American football, and basketball. Also, I think it's sad that our national team can beat teams in Central America that consider the sport to be a religion, when it doesn't get enough coverage here. So I can understand when the world wants us to lose at football.

yeah i couldn't find this either, thanks
  20. yeah, a lot notables from both sides were missing, although the us still had donovan and mcbride. i thought the us outplayed the brits even though england has a better team. in the second half, they were winning all the 50/50 balls and had a lot of opportunities to score. ppl forget that the us is ranked highly now. you were right about the low media coverage too. i didn't hear about this game until i turned it on during the second half.
  21. is anyone else having trouble previewing the tracks on amazon, it's like they decided to take them down
