U2 - BONO APOLOGISES FOR MARTIN INSULT U2 frontman BONO has been forced to apologise after insulting CHRIS MARTIN during a live radio broadcast. The Irish rocker called the Coldplay singer a "w**ker" during an interview on British station Radio One on Friday (27Feb09). The show's host, Jo Whiley, stopped the session and forced the star to apologise to listeners for the outburst. Bono retracted his previous comment, saying "Oops! Sorry, sorry, I'm a reformed character - I don't do that (swear) any more," before going on to label Martin "a completely dysfunctional character and a cretin" instead. Bono insists that no matter what his opinion of Martin as a person, he is a big fan of Coldplay's music - calling the singer a "genius melodist up there with Ray Davies and Paul MCCartney". The two singers recently teamed up for a performance in London for the charity War Child, performing together alongside The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers and Take That's Gary Barlow. 27.02.2009 16:16 http://www.contactmusic.com/news.nsf/article/bono%20apologises%20for%20martin%20insult_1096372

  5. Sound Relief announce amazing line-up; Coldplay, Kings Of Leon, Jack Johnson + MORE! The devastation of the current Victorian bushfires has left few unaffected. In response to our nation’s greatest ever natural disaster Australia’s music community have banded together for two stadium benefit concerts scheduled to run simultaneously in both Melbourne and Sydney on Saturday March 14, 2009 under the unified banner of SOUND RELIEF. Michael Gudinski, Managing Director of The Frontier Touring Company said; “The Sound Relief concerts are for the survivors of the bushfires. The sad reality is that rebuilding their lives and communities will be a lengthy and costly process. It has been phenomenal seeing everyone pull together in this horrific time. Without doubt these concerts will be once in a lifetime events that will live on in the memories of everyone who attends.” Michael Chugg, Managing Director of Chugg Entertainment said; “Around the world, some of the words that are used to describe Australians include “big hearted”, “generous”, “battlers and “troopers”. These concerts will honour all of those characteristics of the Australian people, both those who have suffered so much through this terrible tragedy, but also saluting the heroes who fought against the fires, and the courageous people whose fight is just beginning. With the help of the Australian Music Community, these concerts hope to bring people together, not just on the hallowed turf of the MCG and SCG, but around the country as we share the joy of live music. We will remember those who have lost so much, and celebrate the heroes of this devastating story.” Both concerts will be held in their city’s most iconic venue; in Melbourne at the MCG and in Sydney at the SCG. Some of Australia’s most legendary artists will be joined by leading International and Domestic chart-toppers. The concerts will be a celebration of multiple music genres, with artists playing short sets packed with hits. Concert goers are encouraged to attend the concerts from start to finish as major artists will be spread across the bill right from the very start of the day. Coldplay and Kings Of Leon, who both have sold out concerts on March 14 in Sydney and Melbourne respectively, have kindly donated time from their busy schedules to perform 3-4 songs in the early afternoon. Tickets will be sold for $75 and will go on sale from Ticketek 132 849 http://www.ticketek.com.au on Wednesday March 4, 2009 at 9am. GA Standing on the field and reserved seating in the stands will be available for both concerts. 100% of the proceeds from the Melbourne concert will be donated to the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal. For the Sydney concert 50% of the proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal and 50% will be donated to The Premier's Disaster Relief Fund Appeal in QLD to aid the victims of the Queensland floods. Particular thanks is extended to the Victorian Premier’s Department, Cricket Australia and Cricket Victoria for their magnanimous decision to move the Sheffield Shield final out of the MCG, in turn freeing this iconic venue to be used for the Melbourne Sound Relief concert on March 14. Tickets to Sound Relief go on sale from Ticketek 132 849 or http://www.ticketek.com.au on Wednesday March 4 at 9am. Get in quick for what is set to be a once in a lifetime concert event. 8. Just finished one I picked up cheaply in the supermarket on Tues. Its Stray by Rachel Vincent. Its her first novel in a series about Werecats. It had a recommendation by Kelley Armstrong on the cover which is why I picked it up to look further. Wasn't a bad effort. It felt quite similar to Kelley Armstrong's Bitten to start with but soon took on its own voice.

  12. you have all noticed that we'll all have to have men's shirts to get the bright yellow, because it would a bit unfair to have EU women's t-shirts but no US women's t-shirts. spreadshirt don't do a US dark yellow women's t-shirt only the banana or pale lemon or whatever it was called.
  13. I did check out the band index :P see quote below :laugh3: However, I was too lazy to use the search function to see if there was an unindexed thread :p
  14. February 26, 2009 - submitted by Arissa, Brazil Q. Well Oracle, I've heard the song "Such a Rush" so many times and I realized that the voice does not sounds like Chris Martin's. Well, maybe I'm wrong, but if I'm not, can you please tell me whose voice is that? My guess is Guy Berryman, 'cause he wrote the song. But please tell me who it is!! Thanks, Arissa The Oracle replies: I can see why you may be sceptical but it is Chris. When the band first formed his singing voice was a lot deeper and softer but I assure you it's him. The song credits the band, not just Guy, with writing. February 26, 2009 - submitted by Melissa, United States of America Q. Since the first time watching the "LiTii" vid I have had a theory going and now that my curiosity's gotten the best of me I thought I would run it by you, dearest Oracle. The guys are always speaking of themselves as if they are not cool enough to be "rock stars" (something every Coldplay fan, I'm sure, disagrees with). Could it be that their respective puppets did what the guys would love to do if they were "rock stars" ...Chris could do the splits, Johnny would smash up his guitar and amps, Will would throw his drumsticks out to a fan, Guy...well Guy would be Bono and collectively they would fly off in a helicopter? Thank you, Oracle, keep up the great work! The Oracle replies: It was more a case of director Dougal Wilson throwing a few rock n roll clichs in the mix. Chris is already renowned for his nimble acrobatics on stage, Will does throw his drumsticks and the band have been known to arrive/leave in a helicopter (e.g. Isle of Wight Festival) but thankfully there's always room for Jonny!
