  4. What about a special edition digipack? Then they could make you all happy. A live CD with bonus live DVD.
  5. Yes it is the fourth single. The official site announced it on 15th Feb. Today's announcement is for the official premiere of the single. Still no release date though. As for locking the thread. I haven't seen a thread for discussion of the b-sides for the single. Although if you're going to be pedantic, technically this comes under the Hardest Part threads.

  9. Coldplay: Better on stage, but still droopy By GEMMA TARLACH Journal Sentinel pop music critic Posted: Mar. 20, 2006 Nice guys may or may not finish first, but apparently they draw well at the Bradley Center. Before an adoring crowd of roughly 12,000, Coldplay performed a 90-minute set that showcased the band’s strengths and gave even its shortcomings a rosy glow. While technically a quartet, England’s biggest band of the moment is dominated by the sprightly, surprisingly flexible Chris Martin, whose rubbery stage poses suggested he’s been taking yoga tips from wife Gwyneth Paltrow. Band mates — guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman and drummer Will Champion — stayed in the background for nearly the entire set, leaving Martin plenty of space for his stage acrobatics and aerobic piano playing. The set opened with a strong trio spanning Coldplay’s career in reverse, beginning with the new “Square One” and then stomping through 2002’s “Politik” before dusting off its first commercial hit, “Yellow.” Often (too often) compared with U2, Coldplay does share a number of attributes with its Irish peers, particularly in a live setting, where both bands’ more anthemic material — and outsized front man personalities — have room to stretch out. Songs from 2005’s “X&Y,” notably “Swallowed In the Sea” and “Fix You,” both part of the encore set, benefited from the rush of energy, losing the somewhat sleepy sound of the album. Coldplay also understands how to augment its live performance with thoughtfully chosen visuals. On the enormous curved screen behind the band during “The Scientist,” for example, a satellite appeared to zoom in from space on a man along Milwaukee’s lakefront. In a moment evocative of U2’s “Rattle and Hum”: late in the set, the band gathered at the front of the stage for the gem “Til Kingdom Come,” a hidden track on “X&Y,” and a rendition of “Ring of Fire.” That mini-set was one of the evening’s highlights, but once the salute to Johnny Cash was finished, the band went right back to its repetitive formula of sensitive yet vague lyrics and thoughtful, mid-tempo rock with a big swoopy chorus. Sure, there are far worse bands making far less interesting music. And, to Martin’s credit, his gratitude throughout the show came off as sincere. But one hopes Coldplay’s next move will be to skip yet another song about breaking up with “whoooHOOOwhoohooo” in the middle and instead flex more creative muscle. Let’s also hope that some of Martin’s humility and enthusiasm for entertaining his audience might rub off on former Verve front man Richard Ashcroft, who opened the show. Ashcroft complained about lack of radio play and railed against Nike for paying him $500,000 to use The Verve’s lone hit, “Bittersweet Symphony,” before introducing it as “one of the greatest songs of all time.” http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=409493

  15. How freaky is this? You'd have thought they'd have sorted something before now, there must be a way to get the manufacturer's to get a shimmy on! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/4819966.stm
  16. where did you hear its out on April 10th? there's no official news release on the official website for a date, it just says April. Top of the Pops are quoting Mon 3rd April. http://www.bbc.co.uk/totp/new_releases/soon.shtml this site has it as 10th April http://www.musicmen.co.uk/page.php?20 hmv.co.uk has a release date of 6th April (highly unlikely as the majority of new releases come out on a mon). There's nothing to be seen on amazon.co.uk or whsmith.co.uk woolworths.co.uk have it as a digital track available now but no single info
  17. Its quite horrific, those poor guys have really suffered from some nasty side effects. You know what's really bugging me about this? The word compensation was used in the newspapers this morning. Now correct me if i'm wrong, but if you put yourself forward for a drug trial you have to sign that you agree to various things. One of which is going to be that this is the first trial on human beings, and that the reason for the trial is to ensure there are no side effects. So, you are agreeing to be paid £2000 for this as their is a risk of side effects. So how can you then claim compensation, when you knew in advance that the reason you were agreeing to the test is because they don't know if there are any side effects in humans? And surely, anyone who puts themselves through drug trials is doing it for altruistic reasons and not for the money?
  18. There was no reason for the thread to be closed, it wasn't spam, it wasn't illegal, and it wasn't posted more than once. And no, the mods don't need telling how to do their jobs, what they do require is assistance. The best way to do this is if there is a post which you find insulting, or think its illegal, or against board rules, then hit the "report post" button. Its what its there for. The first mod to read the post report will decide what action to take, if any. Has someone said that particular thread was offensive? I don't remember seeing that. I have mentioned somewhere else in the thread that viewed in a different context some of the threads could be construed as sexual harrassment. As far as i'm aware, the discussion in this thread is about the quantity of threads discussing bums, legs, etc. No-one is saying you can't discuss the various parts of their anatomy but what they are asking you to do is think about the impression you're giving out to new members, and even Coldplay themselves. If you want to talk about Guy/Chris/Will/Johnny's eyes til the cows come home, then do so, but do we really need separate threads for each individual part of their anatomy, and then that multiplied by 4 because each band member needs their own thread? Surely having one Guy/Will/Chris/Johnny thread where you can drool over that band member to your hearts content is plenty?
  19. Are you sure they know who started the thread? I know I for one don't pay any attention to who's started a thread, I decide which threads I'm interested by the thread titles. It wasn't closed because there was no need to close the thread. It turned out to be a joke and was left open, if people wanted the subject to drop then its upto the posters not to post on it. If someone had been insisting it was true, then it would have been slander/libel and we would have had to remove it.
  20. Hmmmm, lemme think. I've got a vague feeling that my husband might like Coldplay!! My sis has Parachutes & AROBTTH in her cd collection. My friend Charlotte has had Coldplay songs as ringtones.
