  1. :laugh3: Yep. Dude, this here is only begging to scratch the surface of the wacky world of different views. Welcome to the rest of your life.
  2. I have my theories, but I prefer logic, compassion, and an open mind. The universe has a way of taking fixed views as a challenge to prove you wrong.
  3. I've heard of a few. Don't ask me to name names, but they're out there.
  4. I'm sorry. Being woken up is never fun.
  5. Know that feeling. Never did quite understand why my parents could be so strict about some things, and so mellow about types of tv shows.
  6. Do you ever sleep? :inquisitive:
  7. Peter Mackay. Even if he is an incorrigible flirt- especially when Ms. Rice is around... :sneaky:
  8. Oh my word. Suddenly I feel so old- most of these lists only have stuff that wasn't on until I was in high school. :stunned: Besides Mr. Dressup and Sesame Street, there was Smurfs and this Ewok cartoon when I was really little, then She-ra Princess of Power and He-Man. Then the Ghostbusters cartoon, then Ninja Turtles. She-ra and the Turtles were the two big ones, though. Narf.
  9. 2 clicks to ignore. Many keys to whine. Behold human nature in all it's glory. :p ;)
  10. :laugh3: So much for actually paying attention to the advice- which clearly stated to dress in styles that work with your body type. Only certain figures can get away with a sweater dress. Gwyneth's is definitely one. Alas, mine is most certainly not.
  11. What a weird thread.... :stunned::mad: I love Coldplaying- it's usually such a friendly place. And such a live and let live place. Good stuff. Until it all goes bonkers. Perhaps this isn't the place to suggest a big group hug, but maybe a bit of live and let live would go a long way? Pretty please? "Once again, we are hungry for a lynching That's a strange mistake to make You should turn the other cheek Living in a glass house"... You know, it's interesting. This neuroscientist had a stroke, recovered, and then wrote a book about it. She has some facinating ideas about the whole left brain right brain thing when it comes to anger and annoyance: http://www.macleans.ca/homepage/magazine/article.jsp?content=20080611_44219_44219&page=3
  12. So it's not official then.....?
  13. “Jonny’s brother Tim and his band The Domino State will be supporting Coldplay at one of the 02 concerts.” Oi! So he is Jonny's brother. Way back when they were still called "At the Lake", there was a rumor going around that he is, but the band denied it when some people from here wrote to them.
  14. ^Well you can't blame a guy for trying. Gotta admire anyone willing to help out around here, even if he did miss one crucial detail- I did it last year, I'm doing it this year, and I'll probably do it again next year. If there aren't any objections, I'll add these lists to the proper albums of the year poll when I get a minute.
  15. Well, Violet Hill, A Spell a Rebel Yell, and Prospekt's March all seem to be about the same story and person or world at least. Viva la Vida (the song) seems like it may be related too. I get the impression that there was a story, but then it got broken up and abandoned in pieces during the recording process. Who knows? Wouldn't it be neat though, if he did write a proper story cycle?
  16. Oh good grief, not this again. A timeline: - Chris made some silly jokes in Entertainment Weekly. His actual point was that they were working very hard right now. It came across as another joke about quitting while he still had hair. - Some tabloid took a couple of different quotes out of context, mixed them up to mean something different, and didn't say where they came from. - Everyone else took the bait and reprinted variations of the article with increasingly alarmist headlines that they were splitting. - Some bottomfeeding gossip monger tacked on a passage about an industry "source" who if he even exists wouldn't know any thing. He said Chris was quitting because he wanted to go solo. Total BS. - Now these other sources are picking up on that new variation too. That clear it up?
  17. Hey dude, check the sticky threads. I already started this ages ago: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=49796 Get off my turf. :p ;)
  18. Neat idea- apparently you can also make a battery out of a lemon and some copper pennies if I remember right. Or was it a potato? But did this guy ever think about how much energy it takes to produce, package, and ship the energy drink? And to fertilize, harvest, and ship the onions? And then there is either the waste produced by the energy drink's packaging which will probably end up in a landfill for eternity, or else all the energy used to recycle the packaging. There's always a cost. Always.
  19. I checked at my local HMV a couple of weeks ago. They said about 30 copies were on order. Still had them set aside one for me though, just in case. edit: 3999 posts.
  20. And that right there is why some cultures don't eat pork.
  21. Hack job 101: " The frontman has a frantic schedule lined up for next year so he can bow out of Coldplay before his 33rd birthday in March, 2010." Hey, you can find birthdays on imdb. This is so much easier than real research like finding out where a quote actually came from. " A final album is already in the pipeline for December 2009 along with a string of farewell performances." Coldplay are doing stuff. This is suspicious. " Last night Chris said: “I’m 31 now—and I don’t think that bands should keep going past 33, so we’re trying to pack in as much as possible. We’ll go for it until the end of next year.” Chris, who is married to actress GWYNETH PALTROW, will then concentrate on a solo career." Look ma, I can use cut and paste! If I say Chris said it last night, it won't look like I used the exact same quote as everyone else. "A music insider told me: “Chris isn’t the sort of guy who wants the comfort of being in a band. He’s very proud of what Coldplay have done, but he wants to go out when they’re on top. “He’s become bigger than the band so he knows he’s going to have a huge career on his own. A solo career is something he’s always wanted to do.”" Some kid I know who works at HMV says Chris would sell a lot of records even if he went solo. "The Grammy and Brit Award-winning group ... blah blah blah... Coldplay after GUY BERRYMAN and drummer WILL CHAMPION joined." If I add lots of commonly known biographical stuff, it will look like I have something new to say. Class dismissed. :smart:
  22. I've been impressed by how many really great bands actually have women in them lately. And I don't even mean the big indie ensembles like Arcade Fire and Stars (And Hey Rosetta!) as great as they are. The Duke Spirit, Sons and Daughters, Howling Bells. And some others that are slipping my mind. Great stuff.
  23. Listening through the mix, I think Amsterdam into Here Comes the Sun is the best transition on the whole list right now.
