What do you do for a living?
I remember those days... :veryangry::laugh3: I didn't last long either. If your 90-year-old grandfather doesn't know what a cellphone is, you don't know how to teach him how to use it, and he's too deaf to understand anything when he calls customer service, maybe just maybe, you shouldn't buy him one for his birthday.

Radiohead
There already is, although it came out before Kid A. It's called "7 Television Commercials"

Will Reilly get LP4?
Reilly, for example and some more of Reilly's handiwork... but you don't know what it was like back then, so don't re-open that debate, please. There was a good reason for it.

Will Reilly get LP4?
:laugh3: I doubt he'll buy it. Maybe he'll listen to it some day if he's bored or curious or something.

Recipes please!
Here's my mom's recipe that I've always used. It turns out great, but has a slight tendency to boil over so be careful. I wrote it up assuming you know how to make pie crust. Butter Tarts Crust: 2 cups flour 1 tsp. salt 3/4 cup shortening 5 or 6 Tbsp. cold water Filling: 1/3 cup butter 1/2 cup corn syrup 1/2 cup brown sugar 2/3 cup raisins (sort of optional- you'll be a little short on filling. Or you can substitute nuts like pecans or walnuts) 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/4 tsp. salt 1 egg Prepare pastry dough. Roll out and cut in circles with round cookie cutter. (about 3 3/4 in.) Line 14 muffin cups (3in at top) with pastry circles. (poke the bottoms with a fork to keep them from getting bubbles when they bake) Melt butter and stir in corn syrup, brown sugar, raisins, vanilla, and salt. Beat egg slightly and add. Mix well. Spoon mixture into pastry-lined cups filling each about 2/3 full. Bake at 425F for about 20 minutes until crust is golden. Reduce time if making smaller tarts. And it doesn't get much more Canadian than that. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butter_tart

Radiohead
It is totally within EMI's rights to do whatever they want to with Radiohead's songs. Same for Coldplay's. A traditional clause in recording contracts is that the company owns the copyrights to the songs, not the bands. They could release a compilation a month if they wanted to. :bomb: It's just that traditionally, under old management, they had the courtesy to include the band in on decisions. Dave will be happy. :dozey::P That was weird, I actually found your answer yesterday looking through news articles... :stunned: http://idolator.com/354270/hey-lets-write-a-song-called-steve-jobs-is-dreamy

Dani Filth challenges Martin to boxing match
:snore: And in the space of one interview Mr. Filth (:laugh4:) loses all credibility by demonstrating that he's a wuss. "Hey, I'm so badass I'm going to pick on Coldplay." :dozey: Dude, you would have been a lot more intimidating if you had done what any self-respecting rock star would do and not cared. Just kept your mouth shut. Proven that they're below you. Or at least picked on someone worth fighting with. Now you're just that looser who picks on Chris Martin. :sneaky:

What do you do for a living?
I'm almost 26 and in EXACTLY the same place. Don't have a job- it's getting frustrating- don't know what to do- probably the reason. Finished 2 years of a 3 year English degree and didn't go back (though I want to finish it someday, when I have money to). So, lost, confused, and insanely lucky I have understanding parents who I get along with. I guess I finally figured out that a big part of my problem has to do with infinite possibility. I just can't stand the idea of eliminating options that might be "my calling" or some such thing. But the logical part of my head knows that it really doesn't work like that. What I finally did (after years of figuring all this stuff out one thing at a time) was just to figure out what my strengths and weaknesses were. I suck at customer service- like in stores, and I can't stand office work. I do enjoy working with my hands on specific projects, I like fixing things, and I like moving around and interacting with people when I don't have to sell something. So with all that in mind, I'm planning to study electronics as soon as I can - there's a lot of good job possibilities in that trade, and I think it will be fascinating. Anyway, I guess my whole point is don't freak out it's part of life. ;)

LOST Season 4: The Official Thread (***contains spoilers***)
So I wonder if those guys are actually after Ben because of all the dead Dharma people... Though it's interesting that they were picked because of connections to the flight...

Recipes please!
For something American, why not just make a nice apple pie (or blueberry?) for dessert or something? I can bug my mom for my grandma's recipe if you want. If you want something Canadian, there's always poutine... (French fries with gravy and cheese curds.) Ooh, or butter tarts. You should make butter tarts. :nice: Besides, desserts like that can be made the day before, saving time and kitchen space.

Yep, they're part of the whole Broken Social Scene thing.

lGreatest Canadian singer/songwriters
Architecture in Helsinki are from Australia. Buble is hilarious. I love him. Great voice too, though I have to be in just the right mood to listen to his music. Greatest songwriters... you're probably always going to end up with the likes of Joni Mitchell and Ron Sexsmith. Singers... too many to list. Though (and I may be biased) for sheer singing talent, I don't think you can top the Rankin sisters... My personal favorite for both singing and songwriting: Loreena McKennit.

Radiohead
Yes, yes you have. :P  *sticks fingers in ears* AROBTTH is my favorite album ever lalalala... :laugh3: ^^ I sing along all the time. I like it when guy singers have higher voices because the songs end up right in my strongest range. Any lower and I'd have to go up an octave into a higher register which just sounds all whispery. "Come on if you think, come on if you think, you can take us allllll...... you can take us alllllllllll......"

US economic growth drops sharply
Yes there is a natural ebb and flow to the economy, but this is happening for some very specific reasons that are different from the dotcom bubble in 2001. Individuals have been spending too much, borrowing too much to pay for it, and saving too little all for too long. And the banks used some nasty tactics to make people keep borrowing. It kept the economy going much stronger than it should have been, but loans come back to haunt you, and that is exactly what is happening now. Loans have to be paid back eventually- which means less spending, and no new loans, which means even less spending. Which means the economy suffers. It's all been living on borrowed time for a while now. It's what happens when people and policies mortgage the future for the sake of the present... the future has a habit of catching up. exactly. :worried:

I NEED ADVICE...OR AT LEAST A GOOD RANT!! (The 'Evil Neighbours' Thread)
Glad to hear it's being taken care of Tracie. I probably wouldn't be that brave in the same situation- would just lay low and keep my mouth shut 3 monkeys style probably. Stay safe.

BARNEY MUST DIE!!!
*sings* :singer: ♫"I hate you, you hate me, let's gang up and kill Barney. With a great big bang and a Barney's on the floor, No more purple dinosaur."♪ Boy am I glad that era is over now that I'm an aunt. Dora isn't remotely as irritating as Barney and Teletubbies were during my babysitting days.

Radiohead Survivor - Kid A - Round 1
Goodness... how do you vote against perfection? :inquisitive: I suppose Treefingers is going to be picked off... but otherwise... there really isn't a weak spot.

Coldplay on JIMMY KIMMEL tonight!
Let's see... it's clocks with the laser and Chris has that blazer on and really cute hair. Definitely old. Though nice as I hadn't seen it before and there's a big difference between youtube and HD. Man, Chris used to look so sharp back then. Oh well.

Coldplay on JIMMY KIMMEL tonight!
Don't let the "live" part of the title fool you. It's pre-taped earlier in the day. The west coast always gets network shows a few hours later than the rest of the continent because of time zones.

Coldplay on JIMMY KIMMEL tonight!
It's probably a clip. I recorded it last night because they were showing a cut scene from the new lost epi on it, and they've been showing clips of old sequences- sort of a series of 'best of' moments I guess... last night they showed the one where Jimmy went to Hawaii to talk to the Lost cast. All the same, I'm setting the DVR for whatever it is.
