Heroes Season 1
Heroes is back! Now try being somewhat obsessed with all of them to various degrees plus Doctor Who. It's exhausting. Amazing time to be a geek in TV land. I thought the medium was toast back at the worst of the reality plague. Now many of the best movie writers are fleeing back to TV. I'm just grateful that there seems to be something for everyone for a change. No point in dissing others' tastes.

Radiohead
DAS: Yay! There's always that chance that they'll freak out and start mixing all over again, but this means that there is actually a finished (for now) cd! :shocked2:  Yeah, I hear that alot. But I'm tall. Taller than alot of guys. So it's kind of annoying for me.

Happy birthday to ERIN!

Youre all fucking idiots
:laugh3: :laugh3: :laugh3: Such a classic thread... Wow... Reilly standing up for Radiohead... he must have gotten over that phase by the time I got here- I just can't see it. (Well except for the part where I am already, but...)

Type the lyrics of song you are listening to right now
too many voices it won't take long which one's right and which one's wrong and yours is most likely to be misunderstood screaming in tongues at the top of my lungs till I find you till you found me and somehow I always knew that you would and it's all good if you would stop the world from making sense and if I could just realize it doesn't really matter doesn't really matter doesn't really matter

Radiohead
It suddenly occured to me just how short Thom is thanks to that pic. :stunned: I'd have to bend over alot more than that to play the piano. Great pic, though. :nice:

The Worst Songs in Music History
Any worst song list that doesn't have "My Humps" on it doesn't count.

Rate the latest movie you've seen
Hot Fuzz 9/10 I don't think that I've laughed that hard at a movie in... I don't know. Possibly ever. The best part is all of the laughs that hit you once you get home. Really well done.

Newbie's Got a Few Questions
Hi, and welcome. Um, off the top of my head: If you count b-sides and EPs, quite a bit. If you want a list of pretty much everything, check this out: http://www.coldplaying.com/page.php?file=/html/tracksearch/index.htm B-sides are studio quality, except for a few live tracks. Content-wise, I adore most of them. They are the songs Coldplay are a little more willing to play around with their style on. Some can be really fast and fun like "1.36". Others are very slow and quiet, but beautiful, like "For You". Quite a few arguably should have been on the album if only there was room, especially most everything recorded during the sessions for A Rush of Blood to the Head. There are also quite a few songs that were only ever played live. The audio quality on those varies, but many of the songs are worth a listen. For instance some people may dissagree with me, but I still think that "Sweet Marianne" has one of the best guitar riffs they have ever come up with, even if it only exists as an audience recording. Some of the stuff you may come across on youtube if you look long enough. Otherwise check out the multimedia section here, and don't forget to use the search tool. http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=28 Live 2003 is probably the place to start. Besides that, I think their performance at the Glastonbury festival in 2002 is the best I have ever seen, and I know Coldplay used to talk about it in interviews as one of their favorites. All of their Glastonbury appearances are great, actually. There is also the tv special that was recorded in Toronto (supposedly for a non-existant dvd) recently. Big questions with no answers. I guess they like a couple of the songs they've written so far, but hadn't started properly recording them the last time they gave interviews, so between Brian Eno, Timbaland (yeah, he's working on it to. But it probably won't be hiphop-ish) and some bad reviews for X&Y that really bugged them, your guess is as good as anyone's.

Broken Promises (LIVE8)
Actually, that was Liam, and he even said himself at the time that he wasn't serious, he just wanted to make a scene. Chris and Noel seem to get along quite well in general.

the weird thread
Oh, is it one of the bog men? Cool! Do you know where the story is that you got the pic from? That guy is possibly a couple of thousand years old, at least. With other bog men there was evidence that they were killed in some sort of ritual and dumped into a peat bog. Sometimes the bogs can preserve bodies like that for centuries. edit: did a bit of digging around and found out some stuff about that guy. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/4589638.stm and http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/01/0117_060117_irish_bogmen.html Turns out he was really short and used a ton of (expensive) hair gel to make himself look taller. He died around 200 BC. Looks like it was a pretty nasty way to go.

Gun Rampage in American College
Heh. There are many local towns I would call quaint. Truro isn't one of them. I don't live there, so I can't say anything for certain, but I would say it's not the sort of claustrophobic tight knit sort of place the media likes to portray. People seem to mind their own business from what I know. But when a place is small enough to be a town, knowing people is a bit inevitable.

Broken Promises (LIVE8)
Amusing that Noel Gallagher and Damon Albarn have something they actually agree about. Typical media spin though- pick the quote that will be ridiculed just because a Gallagher said it and never mind that several high profile artists have said similar things.
-
Are there any bands that you listen to but you dont understand their lyrics ?!
Yeah, Sigur Ros and Malajube.
-
Gun Rampage in American College
Yeah, especially when you consider how big Truro isn't. :stunned: Naturally it's been the spin on all the news channels around here. Says alot about how random life can be I guess.

Truro, Nova Scotia.

Top 25 non-album Radiohead songs (compiled by me)
It's so worth looking in to for Radiohead. The top 4 or so on my list are among my favorite Radiohead songs in general. The OK Computer b-sides in particular would be good enough for the album for the most part- better than many good bands could ever hope to write. Amazing stuff.

"The Children of Hurin" - "New" Tolkien is rewarding
MEEE!!! :D I loved the (mainly coherent and complete) version of this in Unfinished Tales, and of course the Silmarillion version, but it was no secret that there was a much longer more consistant narrative poem around even though it was only half finished. Should make for an interesting read. Over the years in various places I've actually used Lalaith and Niennor as screen names because of this story. Now if only they would get around to publishing his translation of Beowulf.

Helpin' With Your Homework!
It's Calculus. I really ought to remember how to do that. It's a fairly simple one once you know the right formula to plug it in to. I can't for the life of me remember how though. :embarassed:

My (extremely incomplete) favorite 15: A Reminder Meeting in the Aisle True Love Waits 15 Step Permanent Daylight Polyethylene The Amazing Sounds of Orgy (This has inspired so much of my creative writing lately. It's so moody it's perfect.) Down is the New Up Pearly I Want None of This Lull Lozenge of Love (This always gives me butterflies in my stomach for some reason.) Melatonin (I'm a total sucker for a good lullaby. Especially when Thom sings it.) Banana Co Molasses

What are you thinking right now?
Hmm... just realised I've been hanging around here for OVER 2 YEARS :stunned: (It took me a while to actually sign up for an account.) How time flies.

Radiohead
Aw :nice:, I've always loved his smile. I just said that I had never seen him smile that much before. A genuine relaxed away from all the people and press and stuff. His whole face is transformed. He seems to be a bit of an empath. Even with pictures whatever his mood is gets projected onto anyone who sees him. The happy ones always make my day.

how do they sound live??
Honestly, now that I'm thinking about it, I was singing along at the top of my lungs, cheering and yelling in between the song, laughing at Chris' antics and I was just plain so giddy at being there that I don't think I really noticed how they sounded. So I would have to say not bad at all. Now as far as live recordings go, I think they usually sound great, and I always like hearing the new spin that gets put on a song live. I wouldn't say better or worse, just different and interesting.
