The Oasis Thread
Hey, I have a question for anyone with a clue... I didn't know about it, but was there some sort of debate about the title of Digsy's Diner/Digsy's Dinner going on?

What about that live show from Boston that's been on satellite tv and stuff? http://entertainment1.sympatico.msn.ca/music/concerts/oasis - don't know if those will work internationally, but they might. I quite enjoyed it.- [Top 100 Albums Of 2006] Results!
Uh... there seems to be more people who like Radiohead on here than any other band besides Coldplay... Don't let the naysayers get you down- I probably wouldn't have given them a proper listen without this forum ;)- [Top 100 Albums Of 2006] Results!
Wouldn't be surprised if the Eraser comes in at #1...- The Thread where qwerty and Briggy sign a truce with Rick
:laugh3: :laugh3: Oh man... this has to be the funniest thread I've read in a long time... :laugh3: :laugh3: Kinda reminds me of fifth grade gym class when everyone got in a big fight over who did or didn't have cooties... I'll take that over the more typical displays of mindless male dominance any day :jester: But qwerty, are you sure you haven't just overdosed on Christmas candy or something? Cause you're making less sense than usual... :inquisitive: :p- [Top 100 Albums Of 2006] Results!
hey... someone acutally voted for Weird Al :smug2: Surprised more people didn't vote for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, though...- [Top 100 Albums Of 2006] Results!
Thanks :nice: I don't want them to be left out!- [Top 100 Albums Of 2006] Results!
I don't know if there's a US release date, but the Coast is Clear was released in Canada on: http://www.inflightsafety.ca/muzak.html Do Canadian releases still count?- Jokes so bad, they're good
I was going to say that one... :dozey::lol: Though it got old for me about 15 years ago... :stunned:- The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
- [Album of the year: 2006] VOTE! --- November 29th - January 5th (POLL CLOSED!!!)
:D I know you're barely listening... I know you're barely listening... My sister has that album. It's a good album. She may like it a little bit more than I do, but when I'm in the right mood, I love it. They're great live too. You really ought to check out In-Flight Safety if you haven't already...- The most unlikely Coldplay cover...ever!
He's already done that one... :stunned: :laugh3: What about that fish heads song?- THE ANTARCTIC REVOLUTION
Hey... you finally brought your revolution back...- [Album of the year: 2006] VOTE! --- November 29th - January 5th (POLL CLOSED!!!)
1. Loreena McKennitt - An Ancient Muse 2. Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not 3. Thom Yorke - The Eraser 4. Guillemots - Through the Windowpane 5. Snow Patrol - Eyes Open 6. Muse - Black Holes and Revelations 7. Sam Roberts - Chemical City 8. The Raconteurs - Broken Boy Soldiers 9. In-Flight Safety - The Coast Is Clear 10. Pilate/Pilot Speed - Sell Control for Life Speed 11. TV on the Radio - Return to Cookie Mountain 12. Final Fantasy - He Poos Clouds 13. Kasabian - Empire 14. Keane - Under the Iron Sea 15. Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Stadium Arcadium 1-4 are actually all a tie... I couldn't choose- they're all so different. There are alot more I wish I could have put on here, but I just haven't heard enough of the actual albums, unfortunatly. Beck, K-os, and Gnarls Barkley fall into that category. edit: Want to know how to really mess with your head? Having never listened to either album, listen to both Final Fantasy AND TV on the Radio in one sitting. It's like being asked to learn to speak a couple of different languages in one evening so you can write a book report on a couple of novels written in those languages. Just not enough time to really GET it. :dizzy: Don't know what to think or where to put them...give me a week or two to figure out whats going on and they may have been in the top 5 or 10. But it was FUN- I want to try it again sometime, brain cramps and all.- [Album of the year: 2006] VOTE! --- November 29th - January 5th (POLL CLOSED!!!)
Thank-you thank-you thank-you for the Final Fantasy- it's been on my list of things to listen to for awhile, I just haven't yet. TV on the Radio, I'll give them a listen... I can't say I've been overwhelmed by what I've heard so far, but thanks. And I already adore the Guillemots. :nice: Pity they haven't released their full album here yet. You should have seen the face the guy at the music store made when he tried to order it- he couldn't figure out how to spell the name, no matter how many times I told him. :laugh3:- [Album of the year: 2006] VOTE! --- November 29th - January 5th (POLL CLOSED!!!)
I didn't say you had to agree with me, I just said I wanted to whine about it. ;) :P Here's an interesting alphabetical best of list from local indie newspaper The Coast, in case anyones interested: http://www.thecoast.ca/117559.112113body.lasso?-op=eq&t5=LP2U&-op=eq&MasterID=1714.112113&-op=eq&recordtype=dataitem&-op=cn<6=Best%20of%20the%20year%20(2006)&-maxRecords=50&-token.listname=CD%20REVIEWS&-token.elistsource=1714.112113&-token.elistaction=Search&-skiprecords=0- coldplay a name , a leggend
They are currently recording songs for a fourth album, though no one knows when it will be finished. I don't think it will be like X&Y. There is an Italian thread on here if you are interested. http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9586- Alias Day: A Bit of History
Too true. Actually come to think of it, most of the best Newfie jokes I've heard have been told by Cape Bretoners- that doesn't count.- I finally bought my first Radiohead cd
Ditto here. :D- [Album of the year: 2006] VOTE! --- November 29th - January 5th (POLL CLOSED!!!)
My list is on it's way, but I'd first like to take a moment to protest (read whine REALLY LOUDLY) the omission of We Are Scientists' album. According to memory, and every source I've checked (and I've checked many), it was released on: January 10th, 2006 Even one of the links that was posted for double checking says so: http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:47d4vwnea9uk In other words, NOT in 2005. I haven't seen any of the European release dates, sometimes they are different, but even if it was released there sooner, what is happening is that anyone on this side of the pond would be effectively banned from voting for it either in 2006 or 2005, because we wouldn't have heard it last year. (Was there even a list last year?) With Love and Squalor has shown up on almost every best of list I've seen this year, and I think it deserves to be on our list too.- Top 5 Shit Albums of the year
Franz Ferdinand mention Tesco in one of their songs. I remember because I didn't have a clue what it was, and had to look it up. I thought it was a gas station.- The Blur Thread
Well the BBC is certainly being cautious in how it repeats the story: http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/news/news_in_brief.shtml- The Blur Thread
So is this just another rumor like the ones that have been going around for a bit now or is it for real this time? It is the Sun after all... But if true: Yay!- A Thread About Something.
