  1. I THINK I know who Tracie was... and qwerty... There were afew people who still talked like themselves, even if they acted totally different. But not many.
  2. I just ordered an import of Guillemots - Through the Windowpane. Apparently, the full album has never been released in Canada, which sucks, because it means that it costs an arm and a leg to get ahold of. Hope it comes soon.
  3. Yeah, it sucks. :P Stupid time zones. Man, you were a good sport, though! I would have lost my mind trying to be myself around all of us nutcases.
  4. Yeah. :rolleyes4: I even had to stop myself from talking to real people like my character...
  5. good laugh indeed... i think this was that most that has happened around here in ages. And all in one day at that!
  6. yeah, we're all back to normal now, thank goodness!
  7. Oh, I just had an idea if someone was willing to do an insane amount of work. What if someone was willing to organize a guess list? It would work sort of like the voting for the coldplaying awards. Anyone wants to guess would pm a list of the aliases and their guesses to the organizer. The people who had participated would also include their personas in the list. Then whoever was doing the compiling would post a lists of the guesses and the true identities? Just a suggestion, and will probably be a huge amount of work, but if no one can think of anything better...?
  8. I was one of the characters. Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you... I had somewhere out in the real world where my presence was required for the evening. But yeah, I belong on the list too. And congrats Ren! :D
  9. Man, you guys are MESSED UP!!! It was fun for awhile... till it was perfectly clear that everybody just using it as an excuse to be COMPLETLY perverted. Now I know why some of the other boards I avoid are so messed up. Glad to be back in my own persona again. Acting like my character was starting to mess with my head... still having trouble talking normally. *sigh* :nice:
  10. Well this is a relief... I just came on here and thought I was loosing my mind! I WANT IN! Is it really too late? I only just saw this now. Not that you'll know which one is me anyway... :sneaky: *poofs* for the day
  11. "Store away from direct sunlight; preferably in a dark drawer with your secrets. See inside for details." I probably shouldn't be half as amused by that as I am. My dad, who usually complains about my music, got me both Kid A and Amnesiac. I was impressed. Listening to Amnesiac for the gazillionth time today right now. Pulk/Pull makes my ears tickle when I listen to it on my big headphones- even with the volume very low. :laugh3: Glad you got it too, Zorana. Merry Christmas, everyone!
  12. Hey... I asked for Amnesiac for Christmas too! :D No idea if I'm getting it, though. Enjoy! :nice:
  13. Poor Evi! I hope she's ok. At least she wasn't in the house when it happened. And it's not just all of her stuff too- she was renting the house with a couple of roommates if I remember right, so they've probably lost everything too.
  14. I doublechecked the OED, just so you know where I'm getting this from (yeah, I'm an english student- so what :P :laugh3: ). A hallows is actually something that is 'hallowed', or holy, often a person or a place. The name Halloween comes from 'All Hallows Eve', because it's the day before 'All Saints Day'. In this case, hallows means saints. When someone talks about 'A Hallows' it is usually a reference to some sort of holy place like a shrine, relic, or pagan grove. It's generally a ceremonial place. A Deathly Hallow like the title refers to would most likely be some sort of a place of ritual sacrifice, I'm guessing. It will be interesting to see how the story uses it. Cool title, but it certainly sounds worrying. I've really got to read the last few books I haven't gotten to yet sometime. But I've been taking it slow because I don't want it all to end too soon either!
  15. Well, yesterday I learned that my subconcious is alot smarter than I am. Oh, and sometimes, like for tortillas, non-stick frying pans actually don't work better. Traditional pans are best.
  16. The hinges on jewel cases will break off if (or more accuratly when) you drop them. Drives me freaking crazy. Digipacks on the other hand get messed up if you run out to the car with them in the rain because they aren't plastic. As my worse for the wear copy of the Arcade Fire's album shows, they get tattered from repeated use. And finally, the no size/method restrictions are annoying because they often don't fit on cd racks, and you can't easily access the cd in a hurray. (Not that my one handed open the case and put a cd in while driving method is all that wise, mind you, but I do like to have the option.) Oh yeah, and the slip case on one of my cds scratched the cd quite badly, so I don't use it anymore at all. Imho, the best ones are the laminated digipacks that have the plastic cd tray inside. No raindrop worries, no broken hinges, and easy access.

-Marcus Cole on Babylon 5 Was looking for a certain B5 quote the other day and came across that one. A bit of food for thought. I think actions having consequences hardly counts as karma- if you're a jerk, and tick people off, they aren't exactly going to do nice things for you. If you go out of your way to be kind and helpful, people might like you and help you when you need it. It's not really mystical- just human nature. As far as I won the lottery because i saved a puppy from drowning last week goes, I don't really believe in that, beyond a psychological level. Genuine positive thinking can change how a person behaves subconciously- thus making your own luck. But like Briggins said- I prefer grace. Forgiveness always trumps comeuppance.

  19. Ooh! Thanks! :D MuchMusic is actually a Canadian channel, sort of the Canadian MTV, and Chart magazine (which runs the website) is Canadian too- thus the announcement. So great news for us Canucks. Unfortunatly not very helpful to the Americans on here. Huge thanks for the heads up.
  20. Same here. I put on Parachutes and Arobtth afew days ago for the first time in a long time. They were amazing to listen to with fresh ears again. These are the albums I'll be pestering my kids with 20 years from now. They're fantastic, and they seem to be timeless. I'm sure Coldplay will lose fans over their break. But only the ones who only listened to them because they were an "it" thing in the first place. And that crowd will come back again the next time one of their albums becomes an "it" thing again, pretending that they were there all along. It seems that the formerly die-hard fans who were going to leave left when X&Y came out rather than over any break.
  21. Huge thanks for the link. Looks great so far. I really don't think they didn't release the DVD for that reason. That's why they filmed two nights- so they would have a choice between performances. But who knows. Hmm. Here's my issue. I saw the arobtth dvd AFTER I saw their performance at Glastonbury last year. And as great as that DVD was, you can see how much they have grown since then- they're alot more animated, with bigger songs. I may not think quite so much of X&Y as an album, but the new material made for a fantastic concert. They ought to want to show that. Grr. DVD, please.
  22. Actually the Backstreet Boys were the one set of poptarts who did make it out to Halifax. Twice I think. But they're the exception to the rule. Halifax or anywhere east of Montreal usually doesn't exist on tours.
