Well, that's Lost isn't it? Pulling something completely out of thin air to shock us all. I was expecting another plane, and was REALLY happy that didn't happen. I would have hated it if it did, sooo predictable. The snowy scene was obviously foreshadowing for next year, a quick set up to confuse the shit out of us and leave us hangin' so we tun in for Season 3. ;)

Yeah, but... What truth are we going to find out about? Is Jesus going to come back from the dead and be all "sup, whut'd i miss?". How would we even KNOW? Sorry, not to make light of it or anything... But really, in this day and age, how would we even know someone is Jesus? I could be Jesus, for all I know! Or is someone going to come back from the dead and give us definitive proof as to who "rules", who "created" and if there IS a heaven or "life after death". That's not going to happen. We'll never know, until we die. To me, religion isn't about truth. It's about faith. Because no matter what the truth is, people will find some way to not believe it, or find a fault with it, and the world will continue as it does today, with the same divisions. I'm so cynical. LOL

I think the Bible has been used by people on thrones, in positions of power, to scare the masses into submission. I don't believe in hell for that reason. I just think it's something that was created in order to make people behave themselves, and Heaven was created to make people want to work for something after life. That way they would shut the hell up and get on with their crappy peasant/serf lives thinking there'd be something better for them beyond. I really don't believe in living my life by what the Bible, and those who wrote it, say. Because people are wrong, and people are inherently selfish and evil. Call me a Calvinist, if you will, I really don't care. I just think that no one would write a book completely honestly. There's always going to be something wrong with it, something not quite the truth, a little exagerated or completely made up. Why should I invest myself into something like that? I don't know. I believe in something, I believe that there is more to our lives than what we are lead on to believe, more to it than even religion entails. As long as I'm a good person, then it shouldn't matter if I didn't or don't believe in His High And Mighty, should it? Hey man, didn't do nothin' wrong! Let me in those "pearly gates"! LOL

See, this is what upsets me about religion. People who believe in it, shit... so entitled. Really, who are you to say?? I had a nun tell me when I was 8 years old that I was going to hell because I didn't go to church every Sunday. Ever since then I've been staunchly anti-organized religion. A CCC Care Package, excellent! If we CAN send care packages, maybe we could send some mosquito nets. I think that one of the major problems in Mali is malaria, still. Or am I wrong Nadia? Mosquito nets are everywhere around here, hell, they're 99 cents at a local cheap store here in RI. We could send a few for his family and friends, or SOMETHING. I don't know, I think it would be nice to send him some fun stuff like maybe soccer or other sport parafanalia (I CAN'T SPELL LMFAO), but some really realistic life saving things could be good as well. If we can, that is. I definately want to send a letter out to him, maybe with some baseball cards in it that my brother doesn't use anymore. He likes sports, that could be really cool to him! :) I just want to make sure he's happy and safe, he's such a sweet looking kid. :nice:

Right! I find all the new conspiracies arising due to the DaVinci Code success pretty interesting. There's all these new gospels being discovered and examined that make wholely different points than what the original gospels preached. Like, the Gospels that are taught as "fact" say that Judas was a traitor, a horrible person, blah blah. But now the Gospel of Judas says that Jesus TOLD Judas to betray him, he wanted to be sacrificed. Now, that's really interesting because apparently hundreds of centuries ago a very important guy in the Church (I don't know what "rank" he was, he was higher than a priest and bishop, but not the pope? Or maybe he was?), well this guy said that this was NOT true and it was "lies". Why should we believe him? Because something had come out of the woodwork preaching something different from the "truth". What IS the truth then?? And why do/did they want to write Judas off so quickly?? WHO is the person determining what the truth is? Just because it's been around for so long, people believe it? Hmmm... So maybe if Star Wars DOES have a huge following (or Scientology) still in hundreds of years, there will be ACTUAL Jedis and people who think that Scientology is THE religion (as we think christianity is now). Hmmm... Something to think about.

I do think that the Bible is important, in a cultural sense. Religion is a fascinating thing, to study from afar. When you get deep into it, however, it's quite scary. I do NOT like the Church. This "dislike" borders on hate, for me. But we're not talking about the church, or a belief in God or any of that. Just the text. It's interesting, that's for sure. Some of the verses are absolutely beautiful, pure poetry. Many of the morals taught inside are important for any, regardless of what your religious association may be. The fact that people take it as just that, FACT, isn't..... right, to me. People preach the bible like it's our Constitution, something to exactly interpret your life from. I don't like it being in hotel rooms. What makes Catholics (or Christians, whoever the Bible goes with lmfao see, I'm not religious!), what makes THEM so entitled to deserve this? What about the Koran? How about a copy of that? See, that's what I don't like. The elitism people have when it comes to the Bible, like it deserves a certain... something above any other religion. I guess that's because it's so integrated into our culture, while other religions may not be, but that's no excuse. If Scientology is considered a religion (or at least a way of life) to some, why don't we have copies of L. Ron Hubbards' science fiction novels all over the place, because it's taboo? Well, the bibles taboo to me! ;) See? It's just not fair to think the bible deserves something above anything else.
