  1. Many bands change their style over time because of changing tastes both in the bands and the people listening to them. Radiohead radically changed their style twice, with the releases of OK Computer and Kid A. The late David Bowie's style is almost unrecognisable on The Next Day and Blackstar/No Plan compared to his early days. Feeder changed, albeit on a smaller scale, from the hard rock of Just A Day to the art rock of Just The Way I'm Feeling (a really good song by the way; worth a listen). Katy Perry started off quite respectfully - Hot 'N Cold was great. Her newer songs less so. Coldplay's change is to be expected, and luckily I quite like a lot of their modern stuff (bar AHFOD, which was pretty poorly made most of the time).
  2. I think that's reassuring since it's just the intro to the song.
  3. It has a beat drop. How long is the song on the track listing? I reckon that bit is the start of the song.
  4. Probably, but we/I can dream. Then again, there was Running Up That Hill 2021 and I'm Not Alone 2019.
  5. I agree, it would be nice if they went through their old releases and updated them. For example, they could make a 2022 version of Viva La Vida which has Life In Technicolor ii, the Osaka Sun mix of Lovers In Japan, and a few songs from Prospekt's March dropped in. For AROBTTH, I Ran Away could be on it, and maybe they could finally get to releasing A Ghost. A Head Full of Dreams probably needs a complete remix. It also needs The Race. Sorry. I'm very surprised nobody ahs got angry at me for saying I don't like Parachutes and AROBTTH.
  6. I agree with this to an extent. I don't particularly like Parachutes or A Rush of Blood to The Head (but there are individual songs I like on both) but I never 'clicked' with the album like I did for Viva La Vida, Prospekt's March and Ghost Stories. That is probably down to personal taste, but I argue that the first two albums sounded a bit generic. Please don't shoot me, but I felt like every song, particularly on AROBTTH, sounded too similar. There are great parts of each song, but nothing was different enough. In other words, I think most songs on AROBTTH could be amalgamated into one long track, like Coloratura. Compare it to Music Of The Spheres, where pretty much every track is distinct. When I showed my mother Overtura for the first time, she said that Coldplay were doing a lot of different things on the album. I like songs because they appeal to me, not because of principle. I don't think I fit into 'Newplay' or 'Oldplay'. It just comes down to different albums having songs that I like and ones that I don't. I love Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall, but hate Up In Flames. I love Don't Panic on The Blue Room, but dislike the album version. It's also why I should like Oceans, as an intimate and simple track, but I find the song a bit boring - it's not a good sign when my favourite bit of the track is the intro to A Sky Full Of Stars. I agree, I really love Ghost Stories.
  7. In the song I hear a lot of MOTS2 at the start and the break bit, so you're probably right.
  8. I thought I was going to truly hate the new song, but I am shocked to say I really liked My Universe. Out of Coldplay's pop songs, this is at the good end for me, alongside A Sky Full of Stars. I don't think it's as good as A Sky Full of Stars, which had a really good second half, but I'd say it's close. I am slightly disappointed however. The ending of the song featured in Overtura is great, but seems out of place, especially after the break that sounds a bit like an interlude track. It would have been better if they were the other way around, with the song evolving into the Overtura ending and then moving into the calm interlude bit, giving the song a more natural end instead of the fade out. I also don't like the cheering in the Overtura bit - I would have preferred just one cheer or none at all.
  9. This was the version in the AHFOD documentary, and I believe it was the first one to be leaked. It's also my favourite.
  10. I think that the song, had it been worked on more, could have been good. Currently the vocals sound like he's pretending he's from Bristol, and the rest of the song is a bit tinny, but a re-mix (I don't mean a remix) and new vocals would make the song Fine™. I like it as well. It sounds a lot better made than Higher Power (which I have grown to like quite a bit) and the lyrics don't seem bad at all. The snippet in Overtura was also my favourite one out of the songs that haven't been released yet. But obviously I'll need to hear the whole thing to make my mind up fully.
  11. I am disappointed by the gap between Coloratura and the next single. I wish they'd release another promotional single. <insert The Race suggestion>
  12. Maybe this is the/a hidden track from MOTS?
  13. It's obvious, guys. It's going to be MMIX, Music Of The Spheres, Infinity Sign, O (Reprise) and A Hopeful Transmission.
  14. I was talking about the subforum itself, not the threads...
  15. The LP9 News subforum and its description haven't been updated since the announcement of Higher Power, Coloratura and Music Of The Spheres, so maybe the name and description should be changed to reflect what's been happening since the subforum was first made.
  16. I was just listening to different leaks of The Race, and one thing that interests me is how different they sound. The version in the AHFOD documentary sounds like a completely different song to the one that has leaked, yet they share a lot. The leaked 'full' version does not have the bit from AHFOD in it. Perhaps they're different songs? Hopefully the AHFOD version is the one that will come out; I prefer it to the full song by a lot.
  17. Music Of The Spheres Volume 2 will just be remixes of High Power.
  18. YYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
  19. Lots of us had given up with Coldplay; we thought they'd never make good songs ever again, but I think that Coloratura has proved us wrong - so much, in fact, we look completely student. It's definitely in their top 10. Probably their top 5. Perhaps top 3. Possibly their best one, even...
  20. It certainly was!
