Yep, agree with this thread. Paradise is indeed amazing, IMHO! The only issue I had with the preview was the beat in the back, which reminded of those formulaic ballads sang by starlets who's only jobs were to "sing" and look pretty, while a machine did the rest. However, it's obvious that doesn't apply to Coldplay, even if the sound is similar. I loved the song pretty much on my first listen of it. The violin/wall of sound bits created such an incredible atmosphere, and as with pretty much every Coldplay song, they managed to instantly create a mood that fit the situation described in the song perfectly. From the very start with the violin bits I can tell it's about a valiant struggle against some dark force (the notes sounded like a theme for a hero or something), which is clearly what the song is about - escape from a world that that the heroine rejects, whether physically or through dreams. There's a test I have for some of the songs I love. If I can listen to the song and stare off into the distance and feel like I'm a character in a movie about overcoming adversity or something, then it's good. Most Coldplay songs do that, and Paradise does that Awesomely. Honestly, I understand all the complaints about sounding pop or selling out or bad lyrics (I don't agree, obviously, but it's all good), but I think that's picking at pieces that are meant to be a whole. Just taking this song by itself and forgetting about any real world context, then IMHO it's absolutely beautiful; it creates a world of its own and I get lost in it.
  2. The "woo-ing" during the part where Guy runs up the stairs. That's the only obvious one. But I think there are other subtle differences; the background music seems less forceful and more ethereal...or maybe it's just my crappy head phones and imagination.
  3. AWESOME. Also, that mountain in the picture they were standing in front of near the beginning is right close to where I live! It's Mt. Shuksan in northern Washington state. But yeah, the spinning was a little bit excessive. They could've tried spinning in both directions to minimise the dizzy.
  4. What are you talking about? I shot my own computer monitor with my own camera. It is totally my material. :p Ok yeah, obviously you're right. Still, I think the idea is sound. Maybe someone should shoot a video of themselves going through a maze.
  5. Done! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49JbOD0tLxk]YouTube - Coldplay.com Lost Video Contest Entry[/ame] Oh yeah, I'm totally gonna win. ;)
  6. It's Strawberry Swing, no contest. Just look at the lyrics: They were sitting They were sitting on the strawberry swing Every moment was so precious They were sitting They were talking under strawberry swing Everybody was for fighting Wouldn't wanna waste a thing Cold, cold water, bring me round Now my feet won't touch the ground Cold, cold water, what you say When it's such, it's such a perfect day Such a perfect day I remember we were walking up to strawberry swing I can't wait until the morning Wouldn't wanna change a thing People moving all the time Inside a perfectly straight line Don't you wanna just curve away? When it's such, it's such a perfect day It's such a perfect day [Hey, you said you were curvy] Now the sky could be blue I don't mind Without you, it's a waste of time Could be blue I don't mind Without you, it's a waste of sky Could be blue, could be grey Without you I'm just miles away Could be blue I don't mind Without you it's a waste of time And you can even think of "Strawberry Swing" as a metaphor for the marriage, or something. It's certainly the "happiest" Coldplay song that I know of (though my memory could be faulty), and you want your wedding to be happy, right? ;)

I was actually disappointed when I first heard; I had thought it would be epically epic like, say, Viva La Vida, but even bigger. That's not what I got. After a few listens though, I love it. I think a few more listens are needed. ;)
  8. OH GOD YES. I've been listening to every song over and over again for the past...4 hours now, I think, and they just keep getting better and better and better and better and better and better and better and so forth.
  9. Official opinion: I can die right now, and I'll be happy with it, because I've heard Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends. WOW. I've...this was incredible. I really can't describe it with any other word, unless they're synonyms. In terms of pure enjoyability (that's a word now), I say this is the best album, for me. It's so....different, so varied, so multi-colored, and at the same time, it's just so...good. Let's see...scoring: Life in Techicolor - 9 Cemetaries of London - 10 Lost! - 10 42 - 9.5 Lovers In Japan - 10 Reign of Love - 8 Yes - 10 Chinese Sleep Chant - 9.5 Viva La Vida - 10 Violet Hill - 10 Strawberry Swing - 10 Death and All His Friends -10 The Escapist - 8 Reign of Love and The Escapist were just too short to expand too far, but I still love them regardless...just slighty less than the others. Very slightly. I'm going to spaz now. OMFGTHISISFUCKINGAWESOMEYOUGUYS!!#@!$@!$kdslsadljhdsusjhfgtduerr8093274w9ri@!#5
  10. Chinese Sleep Chant; it sounds the same as the CSC performed in the video in this thread: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45995
  11. Wow. I liked it during my first listen, loved it during the second, and during the 3rd I came to a horrible realization: Finding a favorite song on this album will be heartbreaking and excruciating. HOW AM I GOING TO CHOOSE?!
  12. Oh for cryin' out loud you guys. THAT was bad?! I was dancing along with it! I loved it! Though, I gotta add the fact that the only Coldplay concerts I've seen is on Youtube. Maybe that's it? Maybe my ignorance is bliss? Bliss is good. And so is Coldplay.
  13. Oh come on! Please let this be the actual video that'll go on air! I don't care if it's controversial, this video needs to be seen by A LOT OF PEOPLE. Loved it. Fucking loved it.
  14. You cry BECAUSE it's so uplifting. You cry because you're happy. ;) Or maybe that's just me.
  15. Hahaha! Well done sir, well done. :D And I feel the same way. Dare I say it...VIVA "VIVA LA VIDA"! God, this was spectacular, wonderful, extraordinary...I can go on and on about it. I've listened to it a few times now, and every single time I've started dancing in my chair half-way through. You can't help yourself! This is the kind of stuff you need to listen to when you're depressed; it'll cheer you up lickity split. It's the kind of stuff that, when you listen to it, you just want to sing it out loud and clear. Oh my God...can you imagine this in a Coldplay concert? Oh my God...oh my God...and with a full string symphony?! It'll be like Heaven. As for Violet Hill, I loved that one as well. I won't compare them though, just because they're so different. Niiiiice...I'm liking it. Oh yeah, this album's a winner.
  16. Very nice, very nice indeed. I wouldn't say it's their best, but it's certainly up there. It's a good sign that, after listening to it only once, you're humming it continuously, which is what I'm doing. Can't wait for the rest!
  17. Under the great North star Try to work out where you are In the silence of the sea I don't know where I'll be In the future, in the past Going nowhere... much too fast When I go there, go with me When I go there, go with me Cause I don't know where I'm going and I wanna talk I feel like I'm going where I've been before And I wanna talk Take a picture of Something that you're not sure of Bring it back to show to me But I don't know what I see In the future, find a home Getting nowhere on your own Got to find your missing piece Cause you don't know were you're going and you wanna talk You feel like you're going where you've been before Nothing's really making any sense at all You tell anyone who'll listen but you feel ignored Let's talk Let's talk Do you wanna talk I'm ??? through I'm trying to sing a song In a language I don't speak I tried but I can't get through I'm trying to get to you But you’re difficult to reach Won't you talk to me So you don't know were you're going and you wanna talk You feel like you're going where you've been before Let's talk (x4) From http://www.alwaysontherun.net/coldplay.htm#talkdemo
  18. God Put a Smile Upon Your Face "light that I couldn't see"
  19. I'm in the minority it seems, I choose X&Y. :P Think of the trippy video it will make! :D
  20. It was my favorite song for a while (until X&Y came in anyway)
  21. Sparks and For You are least good
  22. I HAVE been missing out! I didn't even know there was a leaked version. :o Can anyone send it to me so I'll have a listen?
