  1. So much for not drawing attention to the relationship....
  2. Y'know, I just realized...why don't we bring it up with the oracle? Sure beats the stupid relationship questions being asked....
  3. Y'know, I just realized...why don't we bring it up with the oracle? Sure beats the stupid relationship questions being asked....
  4. Oh look, another LA show. 'Cause that hasn't happened yet....
  5. ^ so it would be more like the wiki then, plus the added bonus of being able to view/dl media?
  6. Oh, I that's what y'all meant. I guess I see it now then. Kind of a lose-lose situation in a way
  7. Seems to me, fans who actually know Chris (and the band) know he's one of those stars that give away a lot of their earnings to charity. So clearly, it isn't a financial thing. Of course, there will be others who don't know this and might bash him for it. Obviously, I couldn't care less about their opinions. Basically, the only backlash is from those who are uninformed. And again, regarding Chris on social media; perhaps im just not as convinced as you, but I wouldn't be surprised if he just honestly hasn't heard about this ALS thing yet. Also, I don't think the rumours and tabloids would effect his ability to dump a bucket of ice water on himself.
  8. TBH, it'd be hard to beat this place. Coldplaying already has a bunch of the features you listed. Perhaps some of the features here require a bit of a facelift or better searchability. If anything, i'd like to see you create AND maintain a wiki 'cause the coldplaying wiki is greatly outdated.
  9. Not because he doesn't want to, or he feels he's above that sort of thing. But I think he really just didn't get the message.
  10. Rankings changed I see....
  11. inb4 Europeans asking wtf is baseball. srsly though, not a big baseball fan (go jays?) but im a big general sports fan, but that speech/moment was pretty cool. Also, Chris allegedly doesn't have a twitter handle or FB, so not sure if he'll get the challenge in time.
  12. Ooh, my thread got mentioned on twitter. THE FAME, THE FAMEEEE
  13. I'm in the same boat. Usually when these 'Rank the Albums' threads pops up and I put Viva last too. But it doesn't mean I hate it, just that I like it less than the others. I try to make that clear in the first post of the thread. So far, i'm pleasantly surprised at the lack of conflict of opinions and the abundance of posters explaining their rankings.
  14. Nah, I wouldn't worry too much about it tbh. They've proven themselves well capable of making at least a handful of great songs per album and putting on a great live show every era.
  15. Yeah, and each one sets the tone SO well for each album/concert/era. Only makes sense to start the concert that way.
  16. Yes, and some ended with ASFoS. Like I said, it will probably be the case 'cause its happened before. Rush of blood started with Politik, ended with Amsterdam, X&Y started with Square One, VLV started with LiT, MX started with MX/HLH, GS started with Always in My Head. Again, if we're playing the odds, I would bet it starts with the LP7 album starter and end with the album ender.
  17. It will prob start and end with the LP7 start and end song just like every other tour. The rest will be 75% LP7 material and 25% hits from LP1-6 and maybe 1 or 2 fan favs that weren't singles (warning sign, politik, sparks, etc). And I hate to put a damper on the fun, but its impossible to know when/where the LP7 songs fit in relation to the other songs without knowing what they sound like. I don't think that'll stop anyone from trying though, haa
  18. That's exactly what was missing. I thought u were talking about LP7, not the DVD/bluray. Sorry Batman, no fight here....
  19. I think the HP thing was just Chris being Chris, and he didn't mean anything by it. Just happens to be 7 HP books and Coldplay are on LP7th. I think you nailed it there, I see Coldplay being like U2 and to stick around basically forever. Perhaps it's more wishful thinking than anything though, but at the very least, I don't see his comments pointing to the band quitting before LP8 though. The oracle even put a stop to the rumor so iunno why its even a topic of discussion anymore tbh. There were some that suggested the November date (if true at all) could be a Prospekt's March style EP release, y'know, something smaller than a full out LP. A live album/dvd would make sense as well now that I think about it. uh, wut? Perhaps you didn't proofread what you wrote, its a bit hard to understand, but i'll try and comment on what I could gather. -Surprised it hasn't been released yet? You mean LP7? True Love isn't even released as a single yet, so how could LP7 be out? -Releasing an album next summer wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility because Chris just said he likes to release in the summer because of festival season.
  20. I agree with a lot of stuff you said, and the reasoning behind it. What i'm having trouble with is narrowing down the sound of LP7. Generally, I think we can agree it's gonna be bigger. But to say it'll be bigger than GS is not much help. I personally don't think it can get much bigger than MX. You mentioned 'a loud sister to GS' which I can take a step further and say would sound like the offspring of MX and GS. But would that simply be MX-lite? Possibly MX with an electronic drum kit? Iunno, i'm having a hard time visualizing it. I mean, I look at the albums like this: this first 3 are a trilogy with a very similar sound (piano driven rock with guitars). But with Viva, MX and GS, it doesn't sound quite like anything they've done before (Viva showcased stringed instuments, MX synths and GS e-drums). To say LP7 is like MX would make me question why they would do the same thing over again when it's not like the band to do the same thing twice anymore. I just don't know what the band are gonna do next, but I guess that's the excitement of following a band like this.
  21. A lot of things I wanna clarify here: 3 singles: Magic, ASFoS and True Love on the horizon, but Midnight was a 'promo' single. Still in a grey area if you wanna call it a single or not. So arguably 4 singles, which is in line with the usual number. No tour: Not NO tour, just a small one. Moderate promo: I'd say the NBC special, lots of interviews (as Chris-centric as they were) and the itunes play was pretty big. All that being said, I do agree LP7 will be huge and more to the label's liking in terms of marketability it being potentially a more 'tourable' album. The reasons for this has been mentioned many times already. I mean, I can find more reasons for it being a 'big' album than a small one.
  22. ^ahhh, y'know, I just realized the Sirius interview has again provided some insight. Straight from Chris's mouth, he prefers to launch albums right before or right in the summer (to coincide with festivals like Glasto).
  23. If it's late 2015, like some of us have suggested, then its not too fast. In fact, its right on par with all their previous outputs. I made a nice post outlining the reasoning behind it and everything. Perhaps what makes it seem fast is that the GS era was so short with there being fewer singles and much fewer tour dates. But to sum, a 1-1.5 year break in between eras is just about right. edit: found my posts I was talking about in the thread. They were post # 153, 160 and 260 if you were curious
  24. Sorry I don't have a source, but I defo remember Chris having a short range mindset. He mentioned this when talking about a previous record and some ppl also interpreted that as them calling it quits soon. As we know, that wasn't that case. What I mean to say is that, I think he wants to deal with LP7 first and focus all his attention on that, and not worry about LP8 and beyond. I'm pretty sure that's what he meant by it and not any sort of ideas about disbanding. Back to LP7 though, a big nugget I got from the Sirus interview is that Chris compared LP7 to the end of the Ghost Stories album. He specifically said something to the effect of how ASFoS has a 'euphoric release' of sorts which was needed at the end. And the way he said it hinted that LP7 is gonna be more like ASFoS. Before everyone wines about that, I don't think that necessarily means EDM, but perhaps that the mood will be more uplifting; perhaps less like the down tempo Parachutes and Ghost Stories and more like VLV and MX Here's the quote i'm talking about https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npH92Hed_Bc#t=45 Ooh, 2500 posts
  25. My interpretation of that interview (going off memory of listening yesterday) was: -Sometimes Chris writes for Rihanna. -Sometimes she likes it, sometimes not. -This time, he is working FOR her, so it would likely be Chris ONLY on a Rihanna record. -I think Chris said he was HOPING to have a collab (not sure if Rihanna was mentioned explicitly, or just 'a collab with someone') -To sum, looks like Rihanna feat. Chris Martin, not Coldplay feat. Rihanna on LP7. And even if that were the case, I don't mind it. I sense a vibe around here that detests collaborations with ppl from poppier genres. At this point, personally, I understand that Coldplay are a pop band (pop, meaning popular) and with that comes the different influences. But if you look at MX, if I get one or two Hurts Like Heaven's and Paradise's for every Princess of China's, then i'm a happy guy. To go even further, I actually don't mind PoC to begin with (and i'm a fan from the ARoBttH era). Iunno, that was all a bit ranty. I just think ppl can't accept the reality of what position Coldplay is in in the music world. Coldplay are gonna turn a bit poppy, and there will be collabs, really, whether we like it or not.
