Avast version 5 is out now, and I must say, it's way better than 4.8. It has a new interface that's more intuitive (in 4.8, the interface looked like a music player!) It uses less ram, and the scan speed has improved. I haven't used AVG for years, so I could not say which is better, but I'm quite satisfied with Avast.
