How We See The World is on MySpace!!!
^ Yes, the friend requests keep coming in!! At least 3-5+ every time I log on. I have no idea how they are finding out about us, but hey! I'm not complaining. Wouldn't it be awesome if we could be one of those myspace featured bands that appears on the main page? Hummm, wonder if we could make that happen. :sneaky:

Aw, thanks for the sweet words Kathy, Annie, Nina, Julia and Josh! Kathy, that colorful thingy I'm wearing is just a funky knitted necklace that my mom picked up at the local hippie store for me. I've had it for agggeees. I love it so. :nice: Annie, you pull off a really cute Madeline...! ;) Gal, heya, don't think I've ever chatted with you before, but nice photo! Did you buy the hat? :P (and wow, your friend in the middle is a dead ringer for someone I know...)

The meaning of Art, if there's any
Art is intrinsic to the human experience. Art and the cultures that give it context are what makes us such unique creatures. Certainly, art (in all of its forms), has different functions for different people. Some use art to record the world as they see it – in my opinion, no true art can be subjective. Art helps us see the world in a new light - reveals truths that are otherwise obscured by daily life. It also serves to give a tangible form to ideas and feelings. Since we are such complex animals, with such a broad array of emotions and ideas, our languages fail to be able to express the immeasurable intricacies of our thoughts. That's when art steps in to provide this outlet of expression. It's true that in today's age of commercialism, art has become another mass produced product, more often than not devoid of any significance...but the creation of art in its purest form, meaning art for art's sake, plays a hugely important role in defining what it means to be human. (Impressive example of human artistic expression dated back to the Upper Paleolithic era - Lascaux cave art - 17,000 - 20,000 years ago)

Yeah exactly, let's do it!! :D I best catch up and read the early frenger comics so I actually know what's going on. Continuity is an important thing. Should I let them know so we can get on the waiting list? Ooo, this'll be fun! Taiwan?? Well at least it's semi-central to you Aussies. By no means is it close, but if you've ever wanted to travel around Asia, it would be perfect! lol V. cool that you're taking some time off to do some jet setting, Josh. School can burn you out; sometimes you just need a break. I think I may be doing this same this Fall - I'm itching to get out of my country for a while and see the world with nothing but a backpack on my shoulders. I'd love to travel on a whim - limiting planning and no stressing. (I'm not even going to try and figure out how I'm going to pay for it yet...details, details.) But yeah, I may head over to Europe to visit family, and my brother who'll be studying in...Denmark. :sneaky: Care to join me? :nice:

Coke or Pepsi
Coke. Pepsi is sickly sweet. Actually, I've done some traveling, and find that Coke tastes vastly different all over the world. Anyone else ever noticed this?

So, who has created "Zoints" (or whatever) yet?
I have one. tbh, I think it's kinda a lame feature....I'd rather have blinnng! :bigcry: Perhaps if people left me Zoint's messages, it would be...less lame? *hint, hint*

What are you thinking right now?

Mew
Today has been a great Mewish day with: the addition of Eyelime to our thread (mm, new blood...wow, that sounds creepy ;)), the frenger comic andddd the video blog. So much excitement. Really. I actually was late to my morning class because I was checking out the comic posts....(Hum, probably shouldn't admit things like that :uhoh:). Kathy - Do it! Go crazy! Jump out of your seat and shout MEW!! The folks in the library could probably use a dose of craze. Kekita - yeah, anyone can draw for the Frenger Comic...I think they have two people lined up, but you should let them know that you're interested to write a future eppy. I'm planning on drawing one at some point too. Hey! I've got an idea! How about all of us write one together!? :D Yesss...

Mew
One more thing to add..... Video Blog 3 - It's an artsy one of Mew in their studio (I presume?). Jonas makes friends with some cows. Silas makes some noise on the drums. And Bo wears an amazingly brightly colored sweater. Go see! (This is my 3rd post in a row.....this is a thread takeover! Hands up!)

GUYS!!! COOL STUFF! Jonas drew a page for the Frenger Comic!!!! http://www.myspace.com/frengercomic If you have no idea what the frenger comic is, think of it like a big, evolved inside joke from the mewsite forum members. There is a long complex backstory which I had to have someone else explain to me - I'll try to summarize if anyone is really interested. But all that is important here is that Jonas finally drew a page - and it's a good one too! If you can't view the frenger comic blog on myspace (seems to be down for maintenance at the moment), Jonas also posted it on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/68429634@N00 The drawings are quite impressive. Clearly a man of many talents! :D:D

:nice: Welcome once again, eyelime!! (cool username btw) Glad you dropped by this lovely thread. :) So v. awesome that you've been to some Mew gigs (ah, plural! - lucky you). As far as I know, they are at home right now, working on the new album and "lubricating muscles on beaches" (Bo's words, not mine!) They aren't doing too many shows over the summer besides playing at Quart Festival (in Kristiansand, Norway) in early July and Beatday in Copenhagen on August 17th. I'm sure tickets are probably long sold out for that last one, but keep your (lime)eye on ebay! Maybe you'll get lucky and get to go! (and then tell us all about it...). Oh, and they also recently announced the possibility of some shows in Asia....that's got some people on here quite excited. lol Anyyyyway, good to have a Dane around - perhaps now you can translate some Mew interviews for us! :sneaky: I kid, I kid.....kinda. Kathy - :laugh4:....just :laugh4:! Actually, similarly a month or so back I saw a Jonas look-a-like while grocery shopping (I wont go into details lest you think me crazy)...but I did follow him around a bit because the resemblance was too uncanny.

Show us your art!
Jónsi !!! :D :D I can definitely tell it's him. The eyes and nose are just right. So for the next portrait....Thom Yorke, Thom Yorke! Then how about Bono? Or, you know....me? :P

Oh wow, what an opportunity! I've always admired his work and his wonderful documentaries. Having an individual of that magnitude and influence come in for guest lectures would definitely be inspiring. Hope it works out. On a related note, last week I went for an Archaeology film festival and the keynote speaker was Dr. Louise Leakey, daughter of Dr. Richard Leakey who was the son of Dr. Louis Leakey. Their whole family has made so many contributions to the field of paleoanthropology/human evolution (perhaps you've read about them in Nat'l Geo? ...). It was a real honor to hear her presentation - just a little reminder to myself to always aim high...maybe someday people will look up to me! :nice: /end blab. Mew...... I was listening to Killer a lot today...the music...rather, the cadence of the music (does that make sense?), really gives me the creeps, but I'm still drawn to it. @kekita - thanks for explaining what an aye aye is! I google-image searched them, and actually find those little guys quite cute (in a strange, strange way). Little bug eyes and bushy tails. Aw.

What are you listening to RIGHT NOW?
Dream Theater - Octavarium This 24min piece of music always leaves me --> :stunned:

~the 'official' sexy fit men thread~
I was too busy looking at him to notice what he was eating! I do remember that he was dressed as the "ultimate rockstar"... in a green jacket, aviator shades, tattered jeans and black chucks. hah His gf and daughter were with him (I'm assuming that's who they were), so I wasn't about to go over to ask for a photo or anything (and I most certainly wasn't going to be sneaky about it either....we could have got kicked out of the restaurant!). Once, at this same place, my aunt and uncle ate lunch next to George Lucas (!!) while he was chatting with his movie team about the last SW film (way before it came out). Crazy, huh?

~the 'official' sexy fit men thread~
^^ OH oh, I sat next to Noel when I ate out at a swanky restaurant last summer in London! Throughout the entire meal, I gawked like a fool. He had a little posse/entourage with him, and he kept getting up to talk on his cell..meaning he walked right by me 10+ times! :wacky: My dad even bumped shoulders with him as he was exiting the men's restroom! True story! lol
