  1. Aww yay. What happy news!! :nice: Good thing they are taking a break...they'll need it in more ways than one. ;) Hey, Apple and sibling-to-be will have a playmate! :P
  2. haha, a well argued and substantiated claim!! :laugh4:;)
  3. ^ If this has been successful with U2 fans, I'm sure we can learn a lot from how they've set it up. I agree that private donations would just be best....bypassing any complicated shared paypal type account. And yeah, the idea is just to get people revved up about helping others. Having a goal to work towards is just for motivation and for fun, but nothing too serious or too difficult to keep track of. Before we ask Ian about getting a separate section of the boards for this, we can start a thread and gauge the response...
  4. hehe, in the US, we don't change our clocks until "2:00 a.m. on the first Sunday of April" (yup, I googled it) :laugh4:....so that will be April 2nd I guess. Thanks for alllll the pics Iriden!
  5. ^ yes, yes, please do.....:sneaky:

hahaha "Graceful intensity"...great description! What review is that from Nettie?
  7. hahah. How about we all be part of a parliament instead? :D:P
  8. Great, thank you! I'm so glad there is an interest to get this going. :nice:
  9. I thought about paypal as well, but it is too risky I'm afraid, and I don't think many people would be comfortable with that idea. :( We could just have people just donate individually and then PM someone (we could have an accountant type person) how much they were able to give. That's is one way to keep tally of the total money raised. But again, people could lie about how much they donated or if they donated at all. Humm....
  10. Yeah, I agree that any charities that we list will have to be looked into to make sure they are reputable. As for people giving 'thru' this site....I don't know how we'd set that up exactly. It would really just be an honor system type of deal and we'd have to trust that people would have enough heart not to lie about such a matter.
  11. Oooo yeah, wouldn't that be great if it could have it's own section? Vic, great list... Here are some that I know of: CARE Doctors without Borders The International Rescue Committee International Medical Corps I have others bookmarked, but it will take me some time to find them.
  12. Danielle, I like your idea!...turning it into a club type thing. I DO want to turn it into a VERY big deal....with announcements and stickies all over the place!!! :P Just kidding....kinda. Main thing is, I don't people to feel like they have to donate a lot. Just a few dollars here and there can go a looong way in making a difference in a someones life. Guys, I'm really excited about this! Do you think Ian will have any concerns about it?
  13. Yay, tree huggers! :D That's true about the underage thing...if that is the case, the 'underagers' can kindly ask their parents for assistance. :D I'm sure most parents would gladly help out as well. :)

    hahah me too, meeee tooooo.
  15. Yes! I'm glad you like the idea, Vic! Thank you for the list of charities. Want to work together on organizing this? Considering how many people frequent this place, I'm sure we could generate a lot of attention and raise a lot of money.

  19. Thanks for the heads up for that, Nik. Okay, so I have an idea that I've been milling around in my head. We know that Coldplay is very active in many charitable organizations, and I'm sure that many people on these boards who are very conscious of the plight of those who know the meaning of the word 'survival' up close and personal. It is difficult to know what we can do, on an individual level, for those who need help. One thing is for certain, charity organizations are always needing money to help provide healthcare and basic food assistance to those in need. Even though it may not seem like a few donated dollars (or whatever currency your country uses) will make a difference, but at least it is something. So this is my proposal: together we can choose a charity or multiple charities (perhaps ones that Coldplay support), and then, for those who are able, pledge to donate some money every month. We could start up a thread for this, and if you donate, simply post "I donated to _____ charity and I'm helping to ______"......this way we could encourage each other to give and potentially donate a lot of money if people get really into it. We could even try to have a monetary goal to reach, and a few of us could keep tally (I'd be willing). Let me know what you all think! I think we could make a difference.
  20. Happy Birthday Twinnie and Zorana!!:D
  21. Humm, It's hard to pick a single. White Shadows is one of my favorites but I think it would lose some of its magic if it was turned into a single. It's one of those songs I'd just like to keep for us fans who bought the album and know CP beyond what is played on the radio. :) I really loved Talk before it was performed ad nauseum on every possible live tv gig. I guess I can't complain tooo much because we did get 2 amazing bsides and a cool video out of it all. :P
