Guitarist Joe Satriani sues Coldplay for plagiarism
Are plagiarism cases filed in federal or state courts? If it's in a federal court, we won't be seeing it.

Guitarist Joe Satriani sues Coldplay for plagiarism
Agreed. Coldplay's response sounds professional and appropriate.

themes, symbols etc. for each album help...
I'd add in another theme: color. Generally, the eras implemented the following color schemes. Parachutes - Warm (Reds, Yellows, etc.) AROBTTH - White X&Y - Cool (Blues, purples, etc.) VLV - Much more of a mix, although to a certain extent it's most like the earthy Parachutes era. As far as whether the music corresponds to those colors, I think to a certain extent it does, although I'm having the most trouble with AROBTTH.

Show Off Your Postcards for the Postcards from Far Away Project!
I picked up a postcard from my college library today! I plan to write "Postcards from Far Away" in white paint on the picture side (a la VLV cover), but I'm a little concerned about the paint drying well on glossy paper.

Guitarist Joe Satriani sues Coldplay for plagiarism
Coldplay talked a lot about how many versions of VLV they went through before deciding on the one that eventual became the hit. I wonder if demos of the earlier versions might shed some light on the musical process. Edit: One thing about that article above bothers me. Satriani elicits sympathy by talking about how he feels stripped of all the work/dedication/emotion/time/energy/etc. that went into the song, but he completely misses the point that if Coldplay did NOT plagiarize (and just happened to follow a rather simple song progression), he's doing the same thing to them.

Guitarist Joe Satriani sues Coldplay for plagiarism
Cool song. :) ... But I'm not sure how this turned into a discussion about who's a better guitarist. Indeed, I imagine many Coldplay fans would acknowledge Satriani's rather incredible talent. His performances certainly show more impressive guitar work than Jonny's, but that's the nature of their respective musical styles. At any rate, I think we can all agree that from time to time, songs will sound similar. There's only so many notes, so many chords, so many rhythms. If pressed, I'm sure one could find a matching melody to almost any song.

SURVIVOR Prospekt's March EP Round 3! Please vote!!
Tough choice. Postcards, I guess. It's beautiful, but its shortness does it in.

33 best albums of year: blender mag
If you've listened to many others on that list, 22 is actually very respectable.

Coldplay - Prospekt's March EP (Review thread)
The text of Pitchfork's review is actually very positive... If you take away the statements about Chris's cliched lyrics and just focus on the descriptions of the music, that sounds like an 8.0+ review.

Ending of Glass of Water
I was thinking the same thing earlier. It's definitely my favorite part.

Random Coldplay thoughts...
Today on Who Wants to be a Millionaire? the $50,000 question was, "Who painted Liberty Leading the People, which appears on the cover of Coldplay's 2008 album Viva la Vida?" I absolutely never watch television at that time, but I just happened to turn it on for a moment today... and surprise! The contestant got it wrong, by the way.

Viva/PM Deluxe surprise: Future Shop...EIGHT COPIES ONLY
I went to Wal-Mart this morning, but they had neither edition. Went to Hastings instead, which had probably 5 EPs for $8.99 and 8-10 double albums for $21.99.

Now That We Have It....REACTIONS
I just had a thought... If Lost+ had been Lost? and LiJ (Osaka Sun Mix) had been LiJ (Acoustic), I think the flow of this EP would've been nearly perfect. I think I'll burn a copy that way.

Now That We Have It....REACTIONS
7/10 (Which, to me, is a really good score for an EP) LiT ii is predictably epic, and it continues the trend of Coldplay's track 1 dominance. I agree with the band's decision, though, to keep the lyrics off the VLV version. It would not have flowed well into CoL. Postcards from Far Away is gorgeous. I would love to see these kinds of transitional tracks on full-length albums. Glass of Water is really nice. I like the extra guitar part on the final explosion. And, WOW, that outro! I've been singing "What are we drinkin' when we're done..." all day. Rainy Day. Hated the preview, but absolutely love it within the context of the song. It's different, sure, but you can't help but melt when the second "Oh, Rainy Day!" kicks in. Prospekt's March. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Cutting lyrics, and Chris's voice on the line: "I don't wanna die on my own here tonight" is earth-moving. And I like the gentle Poppy Fields outro a lot, too. Here's my trouble with the EP. Yes, Lost+ and LiJ (Osaka Sun Mix) are the better versions of their respective songs, but they're not different enough to be included here. All they do for me is break up the pace of the less studio-fied tracks that surround them. NMFWTTG. Reminiscent of Life is for Living and Til Kingdom Come, it's a satisfying closer that doesn't quite live up to my (admittedly unwarranted) hype. Damn Sun review! :P But, seriously, these are some of the most breathtaking tracks Coldplay have ever recorded. Bravo.

Now That We Have It....REACTIONS
I am blown away by everything on here. There are so many beautiful songs. I love VLV, but I'm not sure how many songs I'd call beautiful. But, then again, I don't know what else we expected. Coldplay always has killer b-sides. Also, I have no idea how some one could prefer Lost! to Lost+. As I've said before, all it needs is more Jay-Z.
