  1. I've read through almost this entire thread and only a handful of you have even spoken about the Flaming Lips - I feel really sorry for Coyne et al because it seems the wrong way around here. Do none of you like good music? If you think you do, why the fuck aren't you talking about the best support act you'll ever see?
  2. If you're at Radiohead's next Sydney gig whenever that is, i'm going to... ...give you a nice hug because then you'll have proved worthy to reply to my comments.
  3. Wow so many shit people at this gig. Random tween next to me "OMG, Mercury Rev are like SOOOOOOOO shit, i'm going to write a letter of complaint". Problem is; 1. You need to be literate to write a letter of complaint, and if you've lined up all day for Coldplay it's obvious you don't rate your studies very well. 2. You can't complain about the supports when you have the musical taste of a gay Brazilian boy. Honestly, the only way you would have been happy was if Kings of Leon and Coldplay were the bill. Other than the crowd, Coldplay were good. Chris Martin needs to shut up if he has nothing useful to say though - can't remember a single thing that he said that wasn't incoherant and stupid. It's also annoying when they rework songs by adding a damn piano solo to the end of each one - Chris, it only worked for Clocks. End the song where you're supposed to you twerp. The techno remix of GPASUYF was terrible - I never liked that track anyway, but following that with the butchering they did to Talk was very annoying. Video balls were excellent, as were the glow in the dark butterflies. None of the songs that I liked; 'Shiver', 'Chinese Sleep Chant', etc. Of course, they're not going to play songs that aren't played on Nova 96.9 are they. Buckland was excellent. Too bad noone in the crowd can name any of the other members. Guy was as sexy as always. Will looks stupid in that scarf. Politik was the best song of the night. Square One would have been nice, as would have White Shadows (in place of 'The Hardest Part', which is just awful). Overall, when I factor in the beauty of Mercury Rev and how technically good Decoder Ring were (and if I ignore the low aggregate intelligent quotient of the GA crowd), i'd give it a 7 out of 10.
  4. I've been a Coldplay fan for years, but they do NOT deserve to win over In Rainbows. VLV is a great pop album, but it does not compare to anything in Radiohead's back catalogue, let alone the beauty of In Rainbows. The comparisons are unfair though, Radiohead are one of the most accomplished bands of all time - Coldplay are a band which makes fans off simple melodies and a weak falsetto.
  5. I've always classified bands with a seated floor as 'Wuss Rock' and I was always proud that Coldplay had never gone down this 'pop artist' route. But now...
  6. Incorrect. And I doubt Chris Martin is anything but Agnostic. Finally, a rational thinker in this thread. A Christian's 'intelligent' conversation: Other: Wrong. Christian: Not wrong, bible says so, and God says the bible is free from error, and the Bible notes God is Omnipotent and Omniscient, so it's true. Other: That's circular logic. Christian: Not it's not, the bible says it isn't.
  7. http://coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=4224 VLV will be sold in iTunes+ format, not DRM 128kbps. That's what the plus is for:
  8. Actually, wouldn't the Dragon Ash cover be the 'plagiarised' one? Thanks for playing.
  9. http://www.last.fm/music/Coldplay/_/Violet+Hill Just saw this updated there now.
  10. It's awful. It looks like a cheap photoshop layer-effects job to me. And the glow function is a dead-giveaway. Hell, even the emboss on the COLDPLAY logo is obviously photoshop's work.
  11. It's very hard to squeeze into any room with Beth Ditto.
  12. Well, I need some help. When I went to see Coldplay that Wednesday night, I was a concert n00b. And I didn't know you could pick up a GA ticket after the show outside the door. And ever since then, i've wondered 'WHY COULDNT I KEEP MY TICKET!!?!'. But i've learned how to internet. And I really want a ticket from GA from that night as a memento. I'm willing to pay for Shipping and even some dollars for whatever it is your saving up for. I just want a ticket for my collection. Ples? Halp?
  13. Que bueno que Coldplay se va a Argentina por la primera vez... :)
  14. My bag wasn't even checked before entry to the Sydney show... In fact the tickets were not even scanned in any sort of a machine before entry, all that happened was a staff member giving us a red armband for each ticket we held that said "General Admission". Made me wonder how they would know if there were duplicate tickets around (ie one's that were reported as lost/stolen and reissued, would still let both ticketholders into the venue). Oh well.
  15. Well, we were certainly happy about his Italy rant!
  16. Haha yeah my friend wouldn't believe me when I said 'he's going to sing Kylie!' and I guess I was expecting him to do the 'woah-oh' thing at the end of the scientist from all the bootlegs so i was straight into it when I heard it.
  17. General Admission, about 11 metres from Chris :D I'll have to upload it all to youtube later :D
  18. I recorded the entire concert in video, i'll be uploading it tomorrow :D
  19. They played 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head' tonight, and trouble was the fifth song.
  20. I'll be in GA on Wednesday Night. Contemplating buying tickets to Tuesday Night's concert too. Damn I love Coldplay.
