  1. I too am a fan of both bands, with U2 being my all time favorite band. I've honestly, never heard the similarity between them outside of the "bigness" of the sound. I know they were an influence and that at least Chris is a huge fan. And yeah, I can't really compare their careers. U2 for sure was more experimental, especially in the '90s. What is similar is that their big breakthroughs sounded nothing like what was big at the time. Parachutes was piano driven FFS. I still remember hearing Yellow for the first time on radio and being completely taken aback at what I was hearing. It was love at first listen. It was the same with The Joshua Tree. It sounded nothing like what was big at the time.
  2. The IheartRadio Thearter is tiny, like 500. They normally live stream it.
  3. Yeah, the email also said that they will be issuing NEW tickets, so the ones we received last week are no good. I'm supposed to have other plans Saturday, so my tix may go to waste. Am now trying to move things around. If I go, I will just hang back.
  4. So here's the deal. I don't think I'll be able to make it to Saturday's show at the Belasco. If there is anyone who has a plus one to the IHeartRadio show on Thursday, if you take me, both of my Belasco tickets are yours.
  5. After a brutal afternoon, this was exactly what we needed. I go to a lot of shows, and what happened in Paris shook me hard because live music is my refuge. I loved the stripped down show. I had tears in my eyes multiple times. ETA: The Bieber jokes were so funny. He had some shows at Staples center, which is close to venue and made getting there hellish.
  6. I will! BTW, if you are near DTLA, Tidal just posted they hid tickets at the Mayan. It's next door to the Belasco.
  7. I'm so excited! Won't be over there until 5:30 but since the space is so small it really doesn't matter.
  8. This happens quite a bit more than you'd think with late night shows. I've been to a few Kimmel concerts, that weren't aired until days later. It depends on the availability of the band, and in this case the prior agreement that the AMAs will get the first performance.
  9. They are taping it tomorrow, but it won't air until later.
  10. I'm going to head over straight from work. So excited. Between this and Muse tomorrow, it's a banner week for free concerts for me! The more I hear Adventure of a Lifetime, the more I like it, so I'm super excited to hear it live. The 2nd best part of winning is I no longer have to hear that awful Halsey song 5 times a day.
  11. First, so incredibly jealous you were at the Roxy show. 11 O'Clock Tick Tock. Sigh. Second, it's a mystery. It may be worth it to just go to the venue and see what happens if we don't win. I've gotten into other shows that way.
  12. Coldplay will be on the Late Show. If you can get off work on Thursday, free tix available via 1Iota! https://1iota.com/Show/439/The-Late-Late-Show-with-James-Corden
  13. I've still not gotten through once. The worst was for the U2 show I was once caller 19. My heart broke on the spot. Also, it's likely KROQ will be doing some giveaways where you have to be the first person to the location, so keep an eye out on their instagram accounts. I hope I win a social media contest today, because listening to KROQ for this long is torturous.
  14. LA people should be following Tidal on Twitter, Facebook et al as they are giving away tickets there. Also, do the free trial subscription and create a Coldplay playlist to be entered for tix as well.
  15. Currently waiting to call 987, but yeah the Belasco show is 8:30. Based on other iheartradio shows I've been too, that one is likely around 6-7 and includes an interview. Good luck everyone!
  16. You want more stress! Alt987 is giving away tickets to a show at their IHeartRadio theater, every hour. I somehow have to listen to both stations?
  17. You can also win via KROQ in LA. http://kroq.cbslocal.com/2015/11/06/win-tickets-to-a-private-kroq-show-with-coldplay-at-the-belasco-theater-november-13/ ETA: They're giving away tickets every hour. If you're listening online, start calling before they announce the contest as the stream is a bit delayed. I know this from two weeks of calling for the U2 show in May. Good luck!
  18. So, you're selling FREE tickets? Wow. That's a whole new level of low.
  19. For me it's their best album since Pop. The lyrics are great, meaningful and not clunky. Danger Mouse's production gives the songs a modern feel, yet it's still evocotive of the post-punk era in which they started. Next year is going to be crazy with a bunch of bands I love touring, U2, Coldplay, Foo Fighters.

  21. I haven't won squat, but I never do on radio contests. I have no idea how the rest of the venue will be filled. At first I thought it would maybe be an Artist's Den show, but they just announced Alabama Shakes. So, no clue. Oh and if there is no other way to get tix, I would highly recommend just showing up as they may just start letting folks in. Did that for Arcade Fire a few years ago and Foster the People earlier this year.
  22. Been searching periodically throughout the day and nothing. Has anyone tried the box office?
  23. No, it's just a very high demand show. Also, since it's LA, there were likely not many tickets even available to sell due to VIPs and the KROQ allotment. I'll just keep my fingers crossed I win my way in.
  24. Sale popped up a bit late, but still no luck. Will keep trying.
