^^ Thats a really good read! Although you have to wonder if every band released a single for free, where would be the fun and excitment? It'd become as routine as anything else in the world, and I personally believe In Rainbows, NIN and Violet Hill all benefitted from the 'surprise' element, as in, no-body saw it coming. I mean; The day Radiohead announced In Rainbows was the start of a new age of online music downloads. Announcing an album ten days before release is extraordinary. And now one of the biggest bands in the world release their new single for free, without giving people more than few weeks notice that the song even existed. But if everyone does it, where's that excitiment, that feeling of surprise, that revolution??

You think they'd have done that from the offset. Not very clever from the web designers point of view. That'd be really quite nice, but it does kind of ruin the surprise! Also, this would indicate the lyrics aren't going to be included, save for the big image in the background. I'm still trying to find out who the artist is, although now i'm wondering if the artwork has been made by the band themselves?

Is it just me or have pretty much all the threads lately started with someone saying how great the new songs are, then ends with someone asking where they can get said songs from??? Do we need a separate thread for each persons opinion?

Yeah, I don't think it charted in the UK. Maybe there is something about it being given away as a gift with the album pre-order which excluded it. But Violet Hill got number 8 :D

Well that was plumper than Santa following a hell of a lot of Mince Pies, cos you're bang on! Number 8 I was hoping for higher than that :( But still not bad given people actually paid for it!

I hadn't noticed that, but Cemeteries is the second track, and they might have recorded a couple of videos at once, so yeah, might be! :D

Number 11 now. No mention of Coldplay so far! I hope they'll include them in the chart, maybe theres some strange loophole we haven't thought of...

Yeah, Viva la Vida would make a better numebr one! But I don't think its sold as well on iTunes as Violet Hill. Its amazing how many people have paid for it even though it was online for free all week!! :O

We're down to 20 in the chart, number 22 is a track by Ne-Yo which entered on downloads alone. Haveing checked iTunes its at number 10 in the iTunes download chart. That means both our Colplday tracks should be top 15, maybe even top 10! :D

I don't think they announce the number 1 until about 7. So wikipedia lies I'm afraid!

There are 2 charts in the UK, I think the main one on Radio 1 doesn't include airplay, but the unofficial one on Commercial Radio does include airplay. But don't hold me to that...
