Coldplay.Com EXTRAS
Great idea for a thread ravrat :D Here are the two pictures posted so far, for anyone who may have missed it or who doesn't have flash... I have to say, major kudos on the artwork front!! I don't know who this artist is, but thats one of the best lino-prints i've seen in a long long time! These could almost be artwork for possible future singles, although I get the feeling there is going to be an image for every song! yay!

Another reason not to use Limewire...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7389529.stm Fake media file snares PC users The fake file claims to be an mp3 of Girls Aloud Almost 500,000 people have been caught out by a booby-trapped media file, says security firm McAfee. The fake file poses as a music track, short video or movie and has been widely seeded on file-sharing networks to snare victims. McAfee said the fake media file outbreak was the largest it had seen for about three years. Those running the fake file get bombarded with pop-up ads and risk compromising the safety of their PC. The fake file or trojan has been widely distributed on the eDonkey and Limewire file-sharing networks. The file has many names and is written in different languages to trick people into downloading it. The titles make the file appear to be music tracks, pornography and full versions of popular movies. Anyone downloading the trojan and trying to run it is asked to install a codec that will play the supposed media. Instead of playing the media, running the file installs a bundle of adware that plagues a user with pop-ups. Included in the bundle is an MP3 media player that will only play the tracks included with it. McAfee said seeing such a large outbreak was rare because hi-tech criminals typically prefer to target their malicious creations to keep numbers manageable and to avoid detection. In the last seven days McAfee said the trojan had been found on more than 500,000 of the PCs that notify the company when a malicious file is downloaded. It added that, so far, only 10% seem to have gone as far as to install the fake codec and be plagued with pop-ups. Other security companies have seen the trojan but not in such large numbers as McAfee. Only those using Windows are vulnerable to the malicious program. McAfee urged users to update their security software and to be wary when using file-sharing networks. Just a nice little reminder about the evil of Limewire... gah!

The new "studio"...
can't we keep this to the NME thread? instead of starting a new topic for every sentence? No offence mate, but its only a magazine article, do we need five threads?

The NME Thread
Thats two days late now, not very good. Might be worth emailing NME and asking for some sort of refund on the postage. Obviously first class means something different in NME-Land :dozey:

Live 2003 Re-Issue...
Hopefully! I don't know much about the gig on the DVD, but maybe they played some extra tracks that weren't originally on the dvd? Just a guess, but it would make sense...

Live 2003 Re-Issue...
I've just been on HMV.com, and have found a new re-issue of the Live 2003 (Including DVD) album, due out on 26-5-08. Does anyone know anything about this, and if there is likely to be any extra material added in with the CD + DVD. There was an advert in this weeks NME for this as well, at HMV, good price :D http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=12;1;55;-1&sku=809406

I think it was removing the background noise which made it sound so flat :( I had heaps of the damn stuff! But then it is an ancient record player, with a semi-blunt needle, so its not surprising really! :laugh3: The second rip is just the same i'm afraid :(

The NME Thread
hahahaha, its no problem Semy. I had so much background noise when I ripped it that I probably lost a lot of the depth etc. by removing the noise. Although I did have fun playing music old school, I'll keep an eye out for your rip soon! :D EDIT Hold on just a second, I think i've found a different option to rip it, which has very little background noise... might just give that a try, seeing as how i've got all the stuff out now!

no probs, I just hope it sounds ok. you have no idea what a mess i've made digging out the old record player from the loft, setting it all up and just generally causing havoc around the house! :P

Listening to it again, its actually not too bad. I think cos the vocals are so quietly anyway I wasn't sure about it. But the track is there for whoever wants it! :D Coldplay: A Spell A Rebel Yell (320kbps) http://rapidshare.com/files/113228281/A_Spell_A_Rebel_Yell_Vinyl_Rip.mp3
